  • I had a lot of people asking me about this, so here's an extra bonus video this week going over my HUD and UI layout that I use for raiding in FFXIV!

    As a tip for being able to visualize your UI in a raid setting without affecting other players while you set it up, you can go into The Mothercrystal, an 8 man trial with NPCs in EW, and set it up there

    Nice, simple and clean video. None of that dreadful CZcamsr speech and intonation. Keep up the good work. Subscribed.

    Great video, lots of good advice. I remember you saying you're new to content creation but come across as someone who's genuinely been doing it for years effortlessly.
    Just wanted to share what helped me personally.
    I made my hotbars smaller so they didn't block anything on screen.
    I use and MMO mouse so I changed the shape of my hotbars to match the same layout as the mouse.
    I moved the boss health and debuffs down to right above my hotbars so my eyes don't have to go from the bottom of the monitor to the top and back down. I find it useful for seeing when other players activate boss debuffs.
    I split my personal buffs/debuffs off to the side and made them a lot bigger to help me see.
    I made the boss cast bar huge and put it right near the boss's health bar.
    I changed the camera tilt from default to 60-70.
    I changed other players effects to simple.

    Great video! Also, you've got a real chill and laidback vibe brother. 🔥 Recently found your channel and so thankful I did.

    Very helpful and thorough video as always. You are a natural teacher, with great explanations. Love to see your channel grow.
    Controller player as well, I have moved my level/xp bar to the right of my hp/mp on the very bottom of my screen, so that my hotbars can be even lower. The limit break lines are to the left on the very bottom.

    as a tank player, i like the target bar being just above my hotbar, because target of target makes managing agro much eaiser, especially in dsr

    You know what I just realized? You remind me a lot of the Japanese Language teacher Dogen here on CZcams, you both have that nice chill vibes. Commenting and liking for the algo-riddim.

    If using controller and unable to right click to focus target, you can instead create a macro and assign that macro to number 99 which is the right stick click by default also known as R3. Also, the left stick is number 98 macro for L3. Example I use L3 to summon mount and R3 for Set focus target.

      @AbsorbAndPlay Před 27 dny

      I'm similar, but you can hit square (or X for Xbox) to open the context menu to select Focus Target. I map R3 to random mount, with a Sprint failover. If I want to sprint instead of mount on the overworld map, I just jump and press R3 and it will simply failover to sprint. I use L3 for sheath/unsheath, primarily because you can configure tab targeting based on the state of your weapon.

      Thats a neat trick. But tbh setting a focus Target doesnt require much Time. Would be nicer if it stays after a wipe though. But i also have a Sprint Macro on R3.

    One good thing I’ve noticed with moving the camera up is that I tend to have my eyes on my character or the boss, so if your feet are just above your hot bar I spend less time looking down then up.

    Crazy, I was watching this video for anything I could use to maybe just tweak my layout, but I've got a very similar setup to what you have. I think I will move that cast bar up some so that it's over my character.

  • @AbsorbAndPlay
    @AbsorbAndPlay Před 27 dny

    I'm also on the same size and ratio monitor, and was surprised with how many of these things I already do. However my screen had much more clutter because I unhid KBM hotbars to duplicate certain key abilities in my rotation so I see them at a glance. With your advice to memorize rotation outside of combat, a lot of these things are making sense. One thing I was surprised by, was that your minimap is so far away. Maybe it's just because I'm a PLD, but I've been trying to keep it closer to where I can see it. Pointing the boss north can be a pain on some fights. I also move my camera up, just like you do. But I was surprised that you had the enemy cast bar right where your characters feet are.
    Thanks for all the tips!

      I don’t really use the mini map for reference, usually just look at the markers in the arena. That’s all personal preference though!

      @99_Vit  Před 27 dny +1

      Yeah, it’s through xiv launcher, just a dalamud plugin. This is pretty much the only thing I use so I can see if my connection is dying. Not sure why this isn’t an in game feature tbh

      33:30 you're right that it's personal preference, but I find that no matter how different someone else's hud might be, it's still going to be better than the default. IDK how the default layout is so bad when every live letter you see layouts that are non-standard lmao
