    Brand new Xbox player here! This video was SOOOOOO helpful! Especially the section on the hot bars! I play a tank most of the time. Having to use right bumper to cycle thru hot bars was such a pain in dungeons! But you helped out so much now all my hot bars have a standardized set up and makes it so much easier! THANK YOU!!! 🙏🥰🙏

    Controler support is so good. I have a recurring pinched nerve in my right arm, and KB/M makes it a lot worse/more frequent. A controler was a life saver

    Also don’t choose Show None on spell affects- set it to Show Limited otherwise you won’t be able to see important beneficial spells like a healers shield / bubble and then you end up standing outside of it looking silly.

    One I would add is setting clicking in of the right stick to Excecute Macro 99, and setting 99 to sprint. This way you don't have to have it on your bars so you have more space for other things. Also I have played for 9 years and didn't know I could set my extra cross bars to always be shown!

    Switching to Legacy movement is gonna save my bacon on AoEs, even on mouse/keyboard. Because backpedaling is so slow, I was _untargeting the enemy so I could strafe out of the way, then awkwardly trying to re-target them through all the visual effects._ What a mess.
    Now I can just...run away lol

    Legacy movement also allows you to continue meleeing a boss while facing away.
    It is by far the most important change every xiv player should make before moving into endgame/harder content

    Pro tip: Change the Stick Sensitivity if you find yourself suddenly slow walking while trying to move your character with the analog stick.
    To do this:
    System Configuration-> Gamepad settings-> Stick Sensitivity.
    I lowered mine from 50 to 25 and I no longer have this issue and dont die due to weird deadzone stuff on my controller.

    This is tempting. I really do want to try this game on the console. Maybe one day they will make it a cross-platform like most game companies are doing now but until then welcome to final fantasy 14, this game truly is a work of art & will get even better like a month from now.
    To those who are truly new to this game, keep playing, it gets better.
    Wait until you get one character to 50-60 before you start multiclassing but definitely pick an easy job like the conjurer or the gladiator or marauder, youll thank me later.
    To those looking to be a paladin, I say good choice & to do that you need to complete the msq (main scenario quest) sylph management, keep playing the msq to unlock the paladin by going back to the gladiator guild in ul'dah & talk to the receptionist at the front desk inside once you turn level 30 after you complete the msq sylph management.

    There is one reason to unequip job stone: if you already became white mage you can't get unicorn without removing it and becoming conjurer again because quest is for conjurers only.

    Everyone says Legacy but I’ve used Standard since the beginning and like the way it feels (and I play on controller). It’s not hard to turn away with the right stick… and I don’t have to worry about getting discombobulated. Imagine not realizing that you are facing an enemy because your character can just face in whatever direction they want separate of where you think they are facing- yes I’ve tried legacy. It doesn’t go very well.

    • @CallawayDay
      @CallawayDay Před 3 měsíci +2

      I’ve used Legacy since ARR by default, and never had any issue whatsoever ever? You don’t need to face a character to HIT them, I tank a mob with my character turned around all the time, that does not matter. To say “It doesn’t go well” just because it threw you off isn’t very fair. Imagine not being able to ever see your character’s face while running around everywhere unless you’re in a cut scene, not being able to look around without your character awkwardly turning slowly, and if you have a job that has directionals (Because jobs still HAVE them, even though most people ignore that fact), and having to awkwardly strafe slowly? Each have their fallbacks and bonuses. I cannot strafe, but that has never hurt me. I cannot move backwards, but I can quickly run back just fine. Honestly, it’s whatever works for YOU. But your experience is not everyone. I would suggest TRYING Legacy, because a lot of people wanna SEE their character, but it’s not for everyone. You gotta remember that for new players. Some people might HATE standard and have no idea how to change it. This makes them go ‘OH AMAZING’.

    • @iceshadow625
      @iceshadow625 Před 3 měsíci

      @@CallawayDay you sound like one of those mouse and keyboard purist. If you want to see your character you can left bumper right analog stick in to enter mouse mode and then left trigger drag to pan around your character… I do that all of the time. I do agree that there is an issue when it comes to channeled spells-you move your camera at all it breaks the channel. I also only play ranged classes. My closest class to melee is Red Mage and when I go in for the melee I have no problem circling to the back of the monster without being “awkward”. I decided to give Legacy a try again and it makes me disorientated. It’s hard to explain. It’s like playing an entire match of Rocket League with Ball Cam off. The camera pans weird and I feel super floaty. Flying is even worst. I would suggest trying Standard because it feels like a console game and gives the character “weight”. Maybe you don’t like that but to me it makes the character feel solid.

    cynical comment incoming.
    advice number 1 -- TRUE (do it on pc also)
    advice number 2 -- lmao aint nobody got time for that, you change bars all the time until you get used to multiple jobs and what feels good in a meta sense.
    advice number 3 -- TRUE, i still have issues when I target ally for something and it doesn't swap to target enemy on offensive ability -- if you have advice please send.
    advice number 4 -- YUP YUP fix HUD to help you.
    advice number 5 -- basically use threat meter as a dps meter and remove their animations that flashbang you.
    advice number 6 -- yeah I keep it all on its an MMO you have a name and title you earned I wanna see it.
    advice number 7 -- stop queueing up to the level 31 H. manor without level 30 job crystal I will find you. so yes MORE important than msq (main story quest) is the job quest below it. if it exists do it.

      i hope is not too late, but for number 3: you can use soft targeting when you need to give your party member an ability, and next one comes automatically back to your main target (in controller this is done by just pressing down or up in the party list to your ally, but not selecting, that makes it a soft target), in healing this comes really handy for quick heals without losing the damage rotation on the boss

    • @chickenstrangler3826
      @chickenstrangler3826 Před 3 dny

      For 3 you can set the targeting filter to exclude party members while your weapon is unsheathed. And if you need to target a party member, well, since they're in your party just scroll up/down on D-pad. This will scroll you up/down the party list and you can select your party member. Or you can sheath your weapon and scroll left/right until you reach your party member/alliance member/random player who's about to die in a FATE, etc.
