Remember this came out during Shia's crazy years so there was no way he'd ever return to the franchise. Makes total sense they killed him offscreen.

The best thing about Lockdown in AOE for new Transformers fans is that he gives an outside perspective of the Autobot/Decepticon war. Like who in a million years would think there are some Cybertronians that haven't joined Optimus or Megatron ? Such a fun character

lockdown is normally one of 3 enforcers who in most stories somehow ends up working for the creators although he originally was a deception who had a side job as a hired merc and bounty hunter he was never really a deception for the cause but in most stories he breaks off@@dreamon7295

Fun fact: Shane's car was supposed to be autobot(or at least one disguised as his car) named Rollbar, though some considered it to be Smokescreen, but was cut from production. Its believed the whole "feels like my driving's on whole other level" line was a scene left from before that point, alluding the autobot was doing most of the work.

I remember waiting for that car to transform for the entire scene, and was genuinely surprised when it didn't.
It a good thing it wasn't left in... He a racer that built that car with his own hand and money. Why TF would it be a transformers... It not like he just came across the car and stole it. It would be ridiculous if every character's car was suddenly a robots... especially since Yeager discover Optimus by accidents so there no reason for an Autobot to pretend to be a normal car just so it could save his girlfriends family? like wtf?
@@NoReply28 I figured it was an Autobot in hiding, either it had showed up at a car lot like Bumblebee did in the first movie, or it scanned and replaced Shane's car.
The timing of his intervention made it seem more like it was running a distraction for Optimus rather than picking up the Yeagers.
Plus there was the line about how Shane felt like he was driving better than usual, almost like someone else was helping him.
It's nice seeing people who genuinely appreciate this movie
Lockdown was a bounty hunter who did not align himself with either side. He gets contracts from the "Creators" and gets sent to hunt whoever is on their list. In this case, he was hired to find Optimus.

And yeah this one of my faves. Lockdown, the Dinobots, Galvatron, John Goodman as Hound, Evil Frasier and an Optimus who has to work through the betrayal both by humans and by his own mentor Sentinel. I love it. :D
Just so you know the first three while in the same universe is its own story in a way. The reason why dark of the Moon was so crazy is because it was supposed to be the end. So consider this the start of a second trilogy

The rally car was originally an autobot Lol but they didn’t have time or money to put it into effect that’s also why Shane said “idk how im driving this thing it’s like I’m on a whole other level” it’s because he wasn’t driving 😂He was assisting it Lol
That last fight with Lockdown was so fucking good also love the parallels of Tessa and Bumblebee not listening to Cade and Optimus about coming back to help lol
In the scene where Optimus first transforms (in the barn), you can hear what sounds like him saying" RUN SAM" which has led fans to the theory that Sam died in an unseen fight.
Yeah, Grimlock, the T-Rex is my favorite Transformer that isn't Optimus Prime. Even over Bumblebee. Those characters are more integral to the whole lore than this movie makes it seem. In the cartoon, Grimlock was one of the few Autobots that Megatron legitimately feared. Maybe the only other one besides Omega Supreme and Optimus himself. There was a scene that was cut from this one where you find out the Dinobots were the guardians of the All-Spark and were with it when Megatron caused it to crash land on Earth in pre-historic times. From what I understand, that would have been greatly expanded upon in the next one and I'm very disappointed they didn't go that route. Supposedly, Grimlock would have been revealed as a Prime as well Volcanicus Prime. I know in one of the later cartoons the Dinobots combined into a big robot called Volcanicus so, I see where that came from. In the unmade fifth film that we sadly didn't get the Dinobots were The Last Knights. I mean....that's all set up in this one. Optimus even calls them knights. I like parts of 5 but....ehhh..
One of my most favorite Transformers movies.
That scene with the car jumping out the window was crazy in the theater in 3D also when they were climbing out of the shop on that line where the robot dogs were attacking them was crazy in 3D there was a lot of metallic details on the ship surface that looked very realistic stuff you wouldn't really get without 3D.
Vince is actually right Shane's car was an autobot called "Rollbar" and he actually had a kind of cool design but they cut him from the movie
I've actually once walked through that street where cemetery wind was driving through to get Optimus and I've actually passed by (on road trips) the "hole in the rock" and the abandoned gas station that he dropped Tessa Cade and Shane at at least twice
Those are the Dino-Bots 1 of the most awesome Transformers teams ever.

For explanation of what happened to Sam, it’s likely that he tried to help the Autobots escape the government’s attacks, but got caught up in a raid with Optimus and died
When Optimus is revived by Cade, amongst his yelling and panic in the barn, if you listen carefully you can hear Optimus say “Sam! Run!”

for those who did know that trex dinobot you see in 38:06 is grimlock also he stands at 80 feet tall
compare to a trex whose 42 feet tall
And that he weighs over 850 tons in T rex mode so you gotta wonder how Optimus backhanded him so far (sent him flying, really). Must be plot armor.

Ah, Galvatron. In all other versions, an upgraded Megatron, here a man made drone vessel for his reincarnated mind. Voiced by Frank Welker, Megatron's original voice actor from the classic show. Pretty unique take imo.

i’m sure you know by now but there’s one more film after this one, then after that there’s a whole new reboot called bumblebee and i think you’ll love it, there’s a sequel to bumblebee called rise of the beasts but it’s still in theatres at the moment so it could take a while to be available if you ever wanted to react to it
One last little thing because I like talking about this movie (and just Transformersin general lol)....I live about 20 miles from Paris, Texas, the town where Mark Wahlberg's character is supposed to live at the beginning and somehow, even though it wasn't really filmed in Paris...that actually looks dead ass like Paris, Texas in the film. For a movie series that showed the back door to the Smithsonian open up into a huge dry field, somehow they got little Paris Texas right. I would think it was just luck but there's this very recognizable fork where you go right for the loop and left for downtown that I swear you see in the film. It's the shot with Optimus on the overpass with Lockdown driving on the road under him. It's so right that it looks to me like Cade lives in Deport and Lockdown chases them up Hwy 271 for about five miles into Paris. As someone who lives here, I appreciated that the location didn't rip me out of the movie by looking all wrong. That's the last thing I expected a Michael Bay movie to get right. Someone had to have actually done their homework. Movies are always getting Texas locations wrong except for this one somehow..

after the next one, there is a bumblebee movie that is a prequel/reboot of the franchise, and there is a follow up to that coming out this year called transformers rise of the beasts, there definately worth watching!

Fun fact about this film: The previous three films had Hugo Weaving voicing Megatron, but Michael Bay originally wanted to use Megatron's ORIGINAL voice actor, Frank Welker. Well, he finally did so with this film, and it was a VERY smart choice on his part. Frank Welker set the standard for voicing Megatron, just as Peter Cullen set the standard for voicing Optimus Prime.

I don’t think it’s an objectively bad movie. The story is just really messy, but the fights are great. The CGI is great. I just wish they went more in depth with the lore and it would’ve been amazing.
