- It's no secret that Kirby's Epic Yarn is a highly rated game. However, there's no denying it has one gaping tear...a lack of difficulty. So I took some effort to find a suitable challenge for this cute, fluffy platformer. What I found was, unexpected. And terrifying.
There's no health or lives in Kirby's Epic Yarn; instead, the focus is on beads, beads, beads. When you take damage, you lose beads. As a reward for solving a puzzle, you get beads. To get a gold medal, you need beads. Let's take this a step further: how about we grab every bead possible in a single level, without losing any? That's what the Maximum Streak Challenge is all about. The game has a streak counter to keep track of the beads; all we have to do is get the number as high as possible. The Combo and Streak Reset strategies help us get a higher streak, too.
The goal with this video is to find the highest streak in Kirby's Epic Yarn. This narrows the list of stages to discuss, as there are too many natively. The Maximum Streak Challenge is attempted in each candidate stage to see if it has the highest streak in the game.

I'm satisfied with the result of this challenge; however, it does raise an interesting question. If I ever found a fascinating challenge that ended up impossible for me to complete, would you still like a video on it? Or should I just stick to challenges that I've 100% beaten?
I think watching challenge videos that end up in failiure is fine, just look at Gamechamp3000 and his VG Myths series. I think his content is good and i think that you can also do well on that! ^-^

Even if you're stumped, others mightn't be.
Even if a challenge ends up being impossible, it can be interesting to learn how far the limits of a game can be pushed, and how close you can get to completing the challenge. And there's always the chance that someone else can build on your work later and find a way to do the impossible.
I'm fine with impossible challenges. I think I might actually like them more than challenges that are possible.

@@chaosleviatho2855 Well, in devilish mode, you can’t get hit, at all, except if there’s a rare item Fluff brings you. And the game is basically designed around not having a health system, so there’s stuff, everywhere.

Kirby's Epic Yarn is one of my favourite games of all time and, generally, a masterfully crafted game!
25:28 Unfortunately, you forgot to collect the CD on your 9999 bead, 999 streak, Whispy's -Woods- Forest attempt, therefore, the run is invalid and I expect you to redo the whole challenge, getting a 999 streak on every level (you know in your heart it's possible), in order to redeem yourself in the eyes of the internet.
Ha ha, yeah the CD is right in the cannon room! The spikes make me so uneasy I didn't even attempt to grab it! The cannons rotate really fast.

By the way, you can use Prince Fluff (player 2) as a yarn ball to throw instead of killing enemies with valuable beads

@@tommyhowell6955 That's odd, when me and my sister would play the game in multiplayer, beads would drop from enemies when killing them with a yarn ball from Prince Fluff. That was many years ago though, so I might be wrong.

Maybe it's because i played it on dolphin with mouse controls, but i found the train pretty easy to control

My trick on the bell is to activate it when the pointer is at the are you want it to be. Didn't fail once for several years
That usually works, but I guess there's a small amount of RNG in it that can cause it to fail or succeed when it really shouldn't.

Ive always been curious about max scores and stuff in games. Take the original mario, for example.
Whats the highest optimal score you can achieve by stomping enemies, gathering powerups, coins, etc. While also maintaining a good time bonus? For every level. Pushing variable numbers to their limit in games is something that has ALWAYS fascinated me. And this scratches that itch.

I remember listening to KEY's (Kirby Epic Yarn) OST as a young kid when I had an ipad on long road trips (I think this was back in Kansas)

I love this game, they recently made a extra one!
honestly people complain about the difficulty, but it actually stuck to the idea of kirbyism really well. if you just wanna have a good time, you can just tank all the obstacles. if you wanna complete the game, its not that easy, and can get quite difficult. i got 100% completion in the past, tho not gold medals on all stages, and it was pretty tough.
This is one of my favorite Kirby games and childhood game in general, yet I somehow never noticed the streak system at all.
I thought about that once,
then I remembered this...bane of combo streaks. Also, right when I hit yes in the poll button, the star applause happened.
This challenge is way easier on the 3ds remake, new power ups can make you free yarn balls
