So soulful and hauntingly beautiful
Thank you for that great reaction. This is also one of my top favorites. It's about love in it's purest and gentlest form, and Elvis' interpretation is heaven. For another song in the same vein, please react to "And the Grass Won't Pay No Mind" from the 1969 album "Back in Memphis (From Memphis to Vegas)". The words are so beautiful and Elvis treats the song delicately.
Just popping back to tell you guys how amazed I am by this song. Its climbing into my Elvis top 10 may be even top 5. So beautiful
Excellent taste JAMES...
His voice is like fine wine you can never get enough of it!!!
Did you know Elvis's Great ,great, great Grandmother was Full blood Cherokee Indian and her name was Morning Dove White !And thats where he gets his looks !
LOVE this song! LOVE this channel! Thank you sir!❤❤❤🇫🇮
My brother...Always an Absolute pleasure 🙏. Your reactions are Amazing 👏
Thank you for the great reaction to this beautiful song!!
I've always loved this one.
Beautiful when you do an Elvis song 🎵 it’s timeless and brings back memories of growing up listening to him there’s definitely only one Elvis Presley ❤❤
One of my fav Elvis songs. So beautiful.
Absolutely brilliant James x ❤💯👍👌
A bit of background on this track James. It was first released by Al Martino in 1967. Elvis recorded his version in June 1970 at the highly regarded Nashville sessions in RCA Studio B. I just checked out a few other versions recorded before Elvis did his. There is a guy, you may know of him, called PJ Proby (known for splitting his pants on stage!). PJ was engaged by a few song writers to record demos of songs they wanted to pitch at Elvis, and although PJ sang in an Elvis style on these demos (to improve the chances that Elvis would choose that song to record), Elvis was quite familiar with PJ’s voice. While Elvis pays some homage to one of his idols, Eddy Arnold, who release his version of this song a few months before Elvis, I think Elvis is much more influenced by PJ Proby’s release of this song in 1968. Elvis was very comfortable with material like this. He captured the master after just 2 takes (plus a couple of false starts, which might have happened because the musicians had a problem getting it right not Elvis!).
Sally you do make me smile. Thank yoy for your input as always x
Thanks James that song means so
much its my name obviously but anything he sings can make me feel better anyway he's gotten me through grief when we lost our son Robert 21 yrs ago his Gospel music especially you mentioned losing the Queen I felt so sad when Elvis died Please play No More from Blue Hawaii when you get a chance Thanks again 💚
James, you picked it. That’s Charlie McCoy on harmonica. Charlie played on a lot of Elvis’ recording sessions.
Its like another dimension. Really feel like his voice is the sixth sense.
What a beautiful ballad. No one sings a ballad as beautifully as Elvis can. His voice is exquisite. So unique. 😊 Thanks so James for listening to this. It was recorded in 1970 for TTWII album and documentary. ❤
His voice, a miracle that continues to endure. NO ONE can pull at your heartstrings like the ex-truck driver from Tupelo. As you say, he sang every genre, so unbelieveably unique. His producer, Felton Jarvis, said that Elvis could sing everything that was thrown at him, listen to a song once, and just nail it. This song is beyond beautiful, others have tried to sing it, Elvis is in a class of his own, simple as that.
This was 1970 released for TTWII beautiful song. Elvis was in top form and he worked hard on this documentary it was awesome.
This song is in the Movie Documentary ”That’s the way it is ” from 1970. Watch that if you can ,it must be available somehow. I had it on videotape from those days, when they still showed it on the telly. 😊I think it was 2004 or something ,an anniversary of some kind ,and they showed that and a compilation of other shows(68’) and movies.lots of good stuff. (I live in sweden ) seems like yesterday, but it’s long ago now. And I don’t have the tapes or a video anymore. But I have the LP ( I got that as a teenager ,long before I watched the movie 20 some years later .😂)
Sorry for all the words, but what I was geting to ,is that this song you can watch when he rehearses it . And other songs in the movie. It’s such a sight to see,how him and his band just work hand in hand . How he commands them and they follow. They have such fun .😊Please react to the documentary ” Elvis and June”. ❤️
I watched Elvis singing this song in his rehearsals for Vegas ,he is so amazing to watch the way he commands his people to play
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Reminder from Canada: 1) Sylvia. 2) Rags To Riches. 3) Somebody Bigger Than You And I (gospel)….hugs 🇨🇦
James, I should note, the videos on CZcams say sings live but please use the official recording by RCA.🥰
I'm also thinking about Ennio Morricone's music playing
In those old Western movies
James, this is a magical reaction! You perfectly described Elvis's interpretation of this song. I heard Lisa Marie say that this is one of her favorite songs her father ever recorded. It's one of my favorites as well. Among Elvis fans, this song is well known but it's a hidden gem for the rest of the world to discover. Thank you for highlighting it so that maybe others can discover it!
SPOT ON✌️
I discovered this gorgeous song relatively late in my Elvis journey but it is now 1 of my favourites. Keep on going down the Elvis rabbit hole James, you will constantly be amazed. ❤
Fantastic reaction… Been a big fan for 30 years, heard every song & if I had to pick my favorite this would be the #1 song for me… after singing if I can dream elvis said he would never sing another song that he couldn’t feel, that didn’t mean something to him… his interpretation is so personal…
👑!!✌
Great review lad. It’s one of my favourite Elvis songs.
“It’s Only Love” is another great Elvis ballad. The best version is on the channel of “SUNtoRCA”.
Thanks 🙏🏻
I love your reactions, just when you think you've heard all his styles he comes up with something else. Please react to This is our dance.
Great reaction. Love it. More please 💕💕💕💕
Great 👍 reaction
1967 Al Martino recorded it.
JAMES, I THINK IT WAS 1970 OR 1971...
recorded in 1970
So, so beautiful. One of my favorites. And, needless to say, your reaction was top notch. I have a request for a song you've already reacted to, but this is a different version that requires a charisma shield. I hope you'll give it a reaction: Are You Lonesome Tonight? (Black Leather Sit-Down Show #2) (3:40). And if you haven't heard the studio version of this song with the spoken word part, it's definitely worth a listen.
Can you paste the link please
@@jamesreacts111 I would be more than willing to if I knew how. But sadly I don't. 🤪 If you type in exactly what I wrote and make sure it's the version that's 3:40 in length, it should be easy to find.
James, I think it was 1967 but may be wrong
Released 1970
