  • Trying to move a 40ft shipping container with a medium size tractor. This will be fun...!
lifting chain wont fit using blue rope to pull shipping container, moving a mobile shed, working in the rain, removing fence posts with a tractor front end loader, tractor spinning in 4 wheel drive.
I want to build an off-grid homestead in Northern Ireland where I will grow and feed my family with chemical free and full of nutrients-packed food on a daily basis. I want to create a healthy lifestyle that my three kids will look back on fondly and to a place they will eventually call home.
    My history.
I have a level 3 cert in sports turf horticulture from where I started my work as a greenkeeper working on golf courses. I have spent alot of my working career both around and driving different types of construction machinery. I have also learnt a thing or two working with plenty of highly skilled trades men. This accompanied with my own skill set, creativity, resorcefulness and efficient approach will aid me in turning this 4.25 acres of unused land into the most fertile landscape in the area, using regenative and holistic farming methods to grow my own meat and veg.

I moved my 40ft high cube container with my pickup truck. I used 3" diameter steel pipes, a farm jack, and I needed very little energy to move it around.
Now, in this case, the pipes wouldn't work, so I'd use logs with a 6 inch or larger diameter. If the logs are 10 feet long, then you're golden. No tractor, just me nudging it along with my pickup truck, never spinning out. And this was on hard-packed gravel. 5.7L😢 engine on truck. Easy peasey. :D
So, I'm commenting as I'm watching this, and these guys have a whole nunch of wooden posts that are perfect for this job.

We got the container moved in the end with a 13 tonne digger.
Check out my other videos. I have my shipping container painted now.

Lovely tractor, envious now compared to my Inter 484. Though she did tow out my hurried Disco yesterday

Use the loader on the tractor to push the fence posts in next time, much easier that a post pounder.

I'll have to try that out. The post pounder leaves you feeling tired 😴

Most dangerous way to move a container or do any towing never tow off a tow bar like that

Why did you not throw a couple of fence posts under the container when the tractor and loader was there and then just pull it along with the tractor and then the container won’t stick in the stones.

The chain was too long and couldn't be adjusted nor properly was it able to be attached to the container. The rope held up rightly. The tractor was under powered too and with that chain was too long to get it into place anywayl. I will have a 13 tonne digger coming soon. I plan to move the container into the correct place at that point, being able to swing it accordingly

@@LaidBackHomesteader I bet you the 13 tonne digger won’t lift the container completely off the ground. You’ll have to push and pull it into position with the digger. Get the videos out quicker there good to watch.

Yeah, I agree. I meant to say use the digger to swing each end of the container into place.
Keep watching and hitting the like button. I'll keep uploading it's only the start cheers
