    Should I PVA a painted plasterboard that had been wallpapered prior to skimming?

    Good job lads, do you find plastic rad pipes and clips take some boarding over and keeping level cus I’m finding it difficult especially when close to door frames and getting board to fit flush with them, I think they should be chopped in, how do you guys find them?

      Thanks 👍 Yeah, pipes should always be chopped in I think personally but when they aren't, and if you can't get your boards back far enough we just cut around the pipes and bond over them. Then we tape in and over the bonding to make sure we protect against cracks. Pipes are a massive issue for us most of the time!

      Never thought of that method with the bonding and tape,I had one a few weeks ago an extension plastic pipes and copper pipes all on clips the ones on the clips I hacked out as it was thermalite block,usually I've always notched clips and brackets out on the back of the plasterboard,

      That's probably the best method to prevent risk of cracking but these pipes would have made us be way out on the sockets if we had gone over them, so we taped them up.

    Are you trowelling up just with the flexis? Or stick with your main trowel after the flatten? What’s the process and tools you’re using?

      We go steel for putting on both coats, and 1st trowel. Then flexi for the 2nd trowel and cross.
      We use Ox trowels with a Ragini corner trowel.

      Looks decent 👍 old carbon mt all the way through for me. Got a Refina superflex 3 but can’t get on with it. Probably needs more use before it comes good.

      I've been interested in using a carbon MT just to try it out. Do you oil yours?

      @@ryanseeley sometimes I spray a bit of wd40 on it but normally just dry it off on my jumper at the end of the day. Once the steel goes black it doesn’t really rust too bad, they break in quick and there’s a bit of give in the blade, it’s not as rigid as a stainless I don’t think. I’ve got a broken in stainless aswell. Not sure if I’d buy another carbon over a stainless I’m undecided which is better but the carbon is what I use at the moment.

    Was installation not required before the plaster boards went on? Or is that optional?

    • @ryanseeley
      @ryanseeley  Před 3 lety +1

      This is a two course wall so the insulation is between the two courses. Hope this answers your question.
