- In todays video we try something a little different, we try out a traditional plastering arch forming technique.
The traditionally formed plaster arch was commonly used in the past as part of traditional plastering methods to achieve geometrically perfect shapes.

I've had a copy for 25 years and i still look through it now and again for arch setting out.
It's a very handy book when the right situation arises
Looks class.
Thanks 👍
That’s brill..I have a corbeled archway in the hallway flanked by the busts of two Roman goddesses which has cracked really badly. What they did in the Edwardian times is probably what you’ve done there but with a moulded float as the front and back of the arch had an inch quadrant moulding. One of the goddesses has its nose broken off and the other, when I stripped the paint off, someone has put makeup 💄 on it. You’ve given me ideas.
Thanks, yeah you can attach a profile to it to creat a detailed finish
What a brilliant bit of work
Thanks mate
Used that book back in the 80s when at college
🤣🤣🤣
It's a useful book, I can see why they used it
Looking cool never would have thought of doing that 👍
Thanks

Absolutely amazing job lads just fantastic, so if you’re in the middle of grey and brown bonding, where are you from mate?
Thanks Simon. We are located in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. We are basically on the border of South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Try a sponge float next time you're trying to form any kind of curve int/ext with either skim or bonding.
They make make it so easy to do.
Nice one, will give that a go next time 👍
Hi nice job, what kind of bead did you put on the arch? Is it a tiling bead?
Hi, thanks! It's just a thin coat pvc arch bead. Made for this kind of thing!
@@ryanseeley been in the game best part of 30 years and never saw one of those, ill google them… thanks mate.
No worries, I often use them if I'm ever skimming or reskimming an arch. I know Travis Perkins sell them and so does my local building merchants.
@@ryanseeley I normally use thin coat stop beads but it’s a bit of a nightmare lol
