Learn an easy technique to sharpen a hunting knife quickly with a stone and strop! Cabela's Alaskan Guide Series Vanguard Fixed-Blade Knife - www.growingdee... @GrowingDeerTV #deerhunting #hunting
I don't know what it is about your teaching techniques but they always seem to make a lot more sense than other people. I'd never heard somebody talk about using your thumb as a fence makes a lot of sense no rhyme intended
Thanks Roy! What type of strop do you prefer? To learn more about the knife, checkout:www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-alaskan-guide-series-xxx-knife-by-buck-knives-100815873
Thanks for such a helpful instructional video! Right down to the sound! Especially the part of shaving the hair off of your arm (my dear Daddys old trick)! Take care and God Bless.
Gary - I use both diamond (DMT stones) and ceramic (Spyderco) stones to sharpen pending on how dull the knife is. I often start with a DMT course and then a Sypderco fine and then a strop.
This was a great video to teach men an old valuable technique. Thank-you Mr Grant.
Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks Kenneth!
Have seen a lot of material on this topic. This was perfect, digestible format, Dr. Grant.
Thanks Ghillie!
Great video, Grant! All in one video.

Great video.
Thanks Michael!
Thanks!
Very nice video thanks
good video my compadre
Great video! This is something I'd like my boys to learn how to do. What kind of stone(s) would you recommend?
The DMT Diamond stores are very forgiving and work well! The course and extra fine are great stones to start with - and of course a quality strop.
Hi Grant you mentioned about using a ceramic stone to sharpen your knife. Where can you buy one and what grit is it.
Gary - I use both diamond (DMT stones) and ceramic (Spyderco) stones to sharpen pending on how dull the knife is. I often start with a DMT course and then a Sypderco fine and then a strop.
Denim pants is good for strop to sir.
I've got a fixed blade by the company ranch knives. It's made of Damascus steel, and I was wondering if the process is the same? I'm a newbie.
Oh, also, which sharpening stone would you recommend?
does that knife come with a sheath?
He took it out of the sheath , most high quality end knives come in a sheath .
He actually took it out of the sheath at the 1:57 mark
Joseph - It does! to learn more about that knife, checkout:www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-alaskan-guide-series-xxx-knife-by-buck-knives-100815873
