This is great Bob, it doesn't seem like many people are glass etching with their vinyl cutters. I just got a cutter and am looking at what else i can do. Thanks for the info Bob

got my vinyl cutter 2 years ago and now getting into sandblasting. I've used Etching Cream, and HF acid, both with and without MICA flakes. Check those out if you want chunky texture.

I have been considering this and doing research. As you stated, I don’t need a huge system for simple glass etching and was becoming very discouraged. This was very helpful and may be doable on my limited budget. I deeply appreciate your generosity in sharing. I would love to know if you have considered your modifications successful.
