  • Jagalchi Market Busan, South Korea - No trip to Busan is complete without visiting Jagalchi Seafood Market and no trip to Korea is complete without eating Korean BBQ. Jagalchi Fish Market is the largest market in South Korea. This market is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Busan, especially if you like Korean food or seafood. The variety of seafood available at this market is incredible. There is an indoor seafood market and an outdoor seafood market. I start by visiting the indoor seafood market before going on an outdoor Jagalchi market walk. The outdoor market is much more interesting because I imagine that this is what it used to be like when it first started. Korean Aunties lining the streets selling their fish. This is the traditional Korean Market.
    Of course you cannot come to a market without eating some Korean street food. But the fish restaurant I wanted to eat at was closed. So I decided to try something a little bit different and eat at the restaurant that became famous for where the fisherman used to eat after coming back from sea. I had a wonderful Korean BBQ where the Korean Aunty Can't Stop Feeding Me. It was one of the best food I had in Busan.

      I would have eaten for 2 also, you did not travel all the way to Korea to eat small portions lol..especially grilled meats over the fire, that rice charred at the bottom 😋@@hungrytoexplore

    Absolutely loved the seafood market Joe. One thing I saw was the Mackerel, these are one of favourites to cook on the BBQ but is hard to get as they don't get much money for them. Would love to go to Busan.

      yeah mackerel on the BBQ is awesome, that is a memory from my childhood, that is for sure! Best way is to catch them yourself haha

    In my experience the worst smell comes from fish blood. It deteriorates very quickly. I noticed that in Japan and Korea they are always using a lot of water to wash it away.

    • @hungrytoexplore
      @hungrytoexplore  Před 2 měsíci

      Yep 1-2 days for the blood to go rancid. But if it’s been bled properly from the gills after being caught that won’t happen. Then it’s trimethylamine which starts to be produced. Better not to keep it wet actually for that. I guess that’s why these are all live markets

    Wow, Joe, the seafood that looks like red prickly pears are quite intimidating. I wonder what they would taste like, and how to cook them. 😮
