So great to see the interaction and taking the feedback back to HQ. My family actually had vowed to never buy a Ford back in 1989 when we had so much trouble with my now wife’s vehicle and the poor response from the dealership. That was until the MachE came out. I got my first one in July 2022. Then had it totaled in October of 2023. Was able to get a replacement 2023 model (unfortunately no longer with my 3 year BlueCruise service but only a 90 day trial).

Good to see Jim hitting the road to see what was up IRL with his company and his customers. Pretty sure the challenges he experienced on this trip trying to charge his truck is why Ford made a deal with Tesla.

SOO glad you made this roadtrip, especially w/ your son, and got to experience the CCS charging challenges... and here we are, three months later, and FORD is now first on TESLA supercharging network- fixing most all of those challenges! So great of you, and for your company, dealers, and customers, to get this real-world experience and suggestions, and as you said, make that human connection and encourage and improve the needed coming changes.
My first car was a Ford, and my family owns a Mach-E now too, we also have Tesla and Rivian...
the main thing for Ford to catch up on now, compared to those two, is software and OTA updates. Still not as smooth and frictionless as those leaders... but you have Ford on the right path to catch up.
Very proud and glad to see someone like you helping lead Ford to the future. Thanks and keep it up!! Get more videos and interviews out there! It shows the difference of you and Ford!

Good deal Jim. Thats the way you build brand loyalty! I just picked up a lightly used 23 Lightning Platinum. I LOVE this truck. The power, the smoothness the quietness. Everything about this truck is great! I am 60 now and have been a gearhead since I was a kid. Had all kinds of bitchen rides way back when. Including a 300 hp 02 Turbo Focus ZX3. What a blast to drive. Sleeper! But this lightning, blows them all away.

Great dynamic between Jim and his son. He cheekly says to the father , " Are we gonna stay here and watch that fill up , looking at the charging cable. 😅

Great video! I’m surprised that algorithm didn’t bring this to me earlier, had no idea it was out there. I love to road trip my Rivian R1S. I did a road trip from MN to Key West Fl. Didn’t go straight there, took a KY bourbon tour, visited NC, SC, Savanah GA, hugged the east coast of Fl and then came back through a different way. No issues with the charging infrastructure. Sure some stalls weren’t working, but I always had at least 1 that I could use. It does need to get better though as more people switch to electric. I’m planning another trip this month , but headed out West this time to as many national parks as possible. I’m going to hit some mountain bike trails and some off-road trails as well. I hope I can use the Tesla network soon, but so far the trip looks very doable just using the existing station and the Rivian Adventure stations.

Glad you have done what you have done. We’re a year into our Lightning Journey in a family that has been a Ford family since the 60’s. Still have a single owner, 77’ crewcab in the Fam. We built a solar charger for our Lightning, and are now going to be converting the system to mobile, for overlanding. We think it should have a 5 year payoff. Free fuel! Who has a gas station in their backyard?

Jim, nice video, ty. Please update the forpass app for my lightning trucks, there's no reason it can not be as good as the tesla app.

Wow Jim, whats going on. Only 121 views? I think you got the point on your drive that the infrastructure sucks really bad. That’s turning off a lot of people from getting electric vehicle aside from a Tesla. I own three electric vehicles right now and if I’m gonna go on a long trip number one I’ll take the Tesla because of the charging network. Number two I would take the Rivian because there’s some Rivian Adventure Network chargers on my routes when I go from LA to Mammoth. The number three would be the Ford lightning that my wife drives. It’s a great road. Truck rides better and quieter than all the others. This is the pro model with a standard battery. For around town it’s a pleasure. It would probably work for most drivers of pick up trucks that go to a job, work and deive back 0:03 home. A lot of people want the chance to go the distance on a long trip and be able to do it without being interrupted by Electrify America chargers that don’t work or overcrowded Charging situations. I know things are gonna get better this next year but the bad news is out there. It’s gonna be hard to turn people back to electric vehicles. In the 15 months and 13,000 miles I’ve only had one problem and the dealer was able to take care of it on a weeks notice. I bought the first Lightning in the state of New Mexico in September last year. The problem was a leaking half shaft. I’d like to meet you sometime I have 13 years of electric driving experience with four different vehicles. I did try and follow you on the Drive, but it was hard to get the information about where you would be going. I do live near Galpin Ford.

The amazing thing from this video , is... it worked! In months! BECAUSE of Jim's roadtrip&charging experience, he pushed the Tesla supercharging deal, and... now Ford is first on the network (Rivian right after), just 3mos later, and free adapters coming out in weeks/months to both. EA chargers need be a pain & problem no more!

@@cgamigalooks like I hit a home run. I will have 2 adapters, one for the Lightning and the other for the Rivian. Wonder which one is first Ford says June on my reservation and Rivian has not allowed me to reserve one.

Huh. A month after it was posted, this video has only 1.5K views on a channel that only has 185 subscribers. Listen, Jim, I am not your biggest fan (despite owning many Fords in my life, starting with a 1967 Mustang and now a Lightning, but I am also a stockholder ☹), but I almost feel sorry for you. You need a much better social media team. I think these videos miss the mark in a very fundamental way: You are, for better or worse, the CEO of a legendary American company. The potential audience for your videos isn't interested in you interviewing other people - it is interested in what YOU think. Want more viewers? Do videos with YOU talking about car stuff (heck, you might even learn something about the auto industry in the process). And some candor would help. Example: Electrify America sucks. You know it. Your SON knows it. All of us out here know it (I have 100+ EA charging sessions in just the last 12 months, and I hate them). So do a honest video about it. Drive some real change, and not just the truck.
