    You talk about Metal Gear, Thief and Splinter Cell. But the series I miss the most and seems to be completely forgotten is the Tenchu series. It had a unique atmosphere and feeling within the stealth genre.

      @murkspectre000 Před 4 měsíci +57

      Yeah, agreed. Lots of features that made Tenchu a very enjoyable and memorable experience. I liked picking what I though would be the most relevant tools and gear when starting a mission, the lively inhabited environments, the needed observation and planning skills when wiping out all the enemies undetected, eavesdropping and encountering funny and strange npc dialogue in the otherwise serious and dangerous atmosphere, also the amount of patience and skill to become succesfull and achieve top rank for missions. Just nothing else like it. FromSoftware knew what they were doing.
      Sekiro is cool and all but it's not Tenchu.

      Capcom should be all over a remake of Dino Crisis after the success of the RE games. Those first two DC titles were amazing, if brought back with modern survival horror gameplay they would be hits again for sure. • @nolankuffner3573
      @nolankuffner3573 Před 4 měsíci +2

      And that's why they won't make anymore.
      "I liked the new one, but it's not the OG."
      Why make a sequel if fans of the OG games won't buy it because it isn't the same characters, doing something only slightly different?
      Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2. You know why Konami didn't make another one of those in a medieval setting (like every CV ever)? Because most developers don't want to make the same game over and over again. We can call Konami having screwed that game by making it drab and empty and boring, but really.. they just let the devs do what they wanted to, and the wanted to do something different.
      Tons of sequels that have stuck to their guns have done well and they get new games (Burnout being a big exception). But tons of games that stuck to their guns also ended up bankrupting their studios, or coming REALLY close.
      Like, the last Splinter Cell gained the studio less than a million dollars in profit ALL TIME. That's a lot of renewing licenses, paying royalties, server fees, and all the fun stuff that goes into any game over the last ten years.
      There are also a ton of franchises that have changed hands. Series like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot that are feast or famine.
      The industry leaves some behind (Ninja Gaiden is a bit too heavy into the DOA crossover characters and showing some T&A. I mean, they added that, and it went to shit. So while you might like that in your bloody ninja action games, it was no small part of the worst game in the series.)
      And, to be blunt, some just get forgotten. Like Dino Crisis, X-Men Legends (sort of revitalized in Midnight Suns), most every extreme sports game (again, the extreme sports industry just doesn't have the audience it once did), or "competitor series" aka games like NHL / NFL 2K, NBA Live, whether do to developers buying exclusivity or lack of interest.
      Personally, I'd love to see Capcom take a page out of Ubisoft's new POP game and make a brand new Bionic Commando in the same vein, but I'll happily wait for Contra: Operation Galuga while I dream of that improbability.

    Ninja Gaiden for the X-box felt like a predecessor to modern souls like games such as Sekiro, Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor, Lies of P, etc.
    It offered a relatively slow pace of combat which rewards timing and strategy and punishes brainless button mashing. The setting also offers a semi open ended Metroid-vania map which progressively opens up and loops around back on itself. It also introduced me to the concept of punishing boss battles, which could take multiple attempts. It’s so nice to see you that 20 years later, the public still has a hunger for these type of demanding yet rewarding, action games.

It was familiar, but very innovative. Everything we love about GTA but with differing styles. Leaping from cars to steal a vehicle? Martial arts? And the martial arts style completely changes based on what you’re wearing! Like that level of detail is incredible. It was very unique but familiar at the same time. I'm glad to hear Legacy of Kain is on this list, man that series was so epic in my younger days. Blood omen was fun original and creative with 2 different possible endings. Then the canon ending was actually the evil ending which set up such a great world state and story for Soul Reaver. Shifting between the material and spirit worlds to solve puzzles, the unique combat system, and the grand story telling was so undeniably fresh and different. The final entry Defiance, (we dont talk about Nosgoth), left off on a big cliffhanger after some pretty big reveals. A new entry in the series would be incredible!

      With what Naughty Dog did with Last of Us (releasing both pieces on the same hardware, with the same models, running on the same engine), a truly wonderful idea would be a remaster of the ENTIRE Legacy of Kain series. All 5 games, with storyboarded transitional scenes worked in.

    -Tomba! - Fun and unique platformer that was a hidden gem during the early days of PlayStation, but sadly ended after 2 games.

    -Sly Cooper - Just awesome
    -Bonk - Definitely an older game, but one that was fun and would be cool to see come back.
    -Dead Space - After the recent remake of the original game, it would be awesome to follow it up with a new entry in the series.
    -Suikoden - Although the later entries in the series were less popular, the franchise itself still draws interest for its earlier works. In the right hands, a new game in this series would be welcomed.

      Agreed completely! Even the multiplayer was such a unique experience. Then it was butchered by mechanics. I remember seeing the gameplay previews of the latest ones and I was pissed at peoples positive reactions to it. Like are we that dim witted that we need to select enemies and let an automatic function play out and take them out with a click of a button. Or having the ability to see through walls.
      Just like other dying genres I’ve just learnt to watch the downfall play out in front of me. Games become less challenging all the while delivering the same dopamine. Miss the days where I’d be stuck on something pulling my hair out, going to bed waking up and completing the challenge first try.
      Dark souls, Elden ring just don’t do it for me in terms of lore.
      What we get now are 18+ mature games designed for 8 year olds and their attention spans.
      Even city building games and strategy games. There’s a reason people still talk about Banished. But what do we get. Cities skylines 2 where it’s impossible to actually fail. What’s the point. It’s like developers ignore the games that stick in peoples minds and become classics. Substituting them for arcade style yearly releases dribble that cater to younger generations that prefer not to be challenged. I hate the way the industry is going. Anyone that has been around and played video games for 30 years should be able to notice that what we get now is shameful at best.
      I’ll stick to indie games and early access and receive community driven updates for 10 years. Despite people wishing for full release and then quick community falloff.

      @@MrSladej What do you think the reason is that every form of entertainment has become so watered down and dumbed down the last few decades? Even for kids it's lacking in engaging, meaningful and memorable interaction.
      Why are certain views and narratives also forced onto every type of media we get exposed to. The whole thing with sweet baby inc. Is a clear example. That and corporate greed is what's ruining the experiences and freedom.
      Smaller studio's productions and indie games creations are quite often a breath of fresh air amongst the smog.

    I just want them to remake SSX Tricky. One of the greatest games I have ever played.
    I wasn't a huge fan of the changes that came in SSX3. I really enjoyed the racing, but they made subtle changes to the controls that made it worse. Being forced to do other activities in order to unlock more races/courses/parts of the mountain really pissed me off, so much so that I never even bothered to unlock everything.
    I loved Tricky because the extra activities, like the rail grinding point scoring levels were an aside. You weren't forced into them other than to gain skill points for your character. Content was not locked behind it.
