Kyoko and Togami know the answer but they want the ultimate lucky student to have a talent
If a killer was smart, they'd have killed Makoto or Kyoko who are the biggest threats in the Class Trials.
The first case involved Sayaka who didn't want to kill Makoto, and Leon who decided to kill after being spooked. The second case was a crime of passion between Mondo and Chihiro. And the latest case could only work if:
A. Celeste had an acomplice
B. Taka was killed because of Hifumi's emnity with him
C. A specific person could be pegged as a killer due to a definable trait, in this case Yasuhiro's height of 6 ft.
D. Only two people would be killed
So there was really know way for them to include Makoto specifically in the murders.
You will see that in the second game though..although it was too late to do it.
That seems a bit to spoiler-ish for the second game lol.

She acted weirdly the entire chapter, and I think she also failed at "overly" framing Yasuhiro. I mean, he's stupid, but it was just too much "evidence".

Honestly, the entire trial, it was PAINFULLY obvious that Celeste was the killer! She was way to quick to object to everything. You'd think the Ultimate Gambler would be a bit better under pressure!

When Hagakure brought up about the weapon, I actually felt so proud of him. Like he isn't one of my ultimate favourites (that's already taken by Leon and Chihiro) but his a character that I really relate to. Dumb for the most part and gets scared way to easily but has their moments of smartness :)

Their entire murder plan would've fallen to pieces if a single person decided to check Hifumi for wounds or a pulse.

im guessing that was the point of Celeste immediately affirming to everyone that Hifumi died so they wouldn’t bother checking, not to mention Monokuma’s body announcment happened to play convenient at that time
If they would’ve been found out hifumi would be the blackened not celeste, that was probably a contingency she planned

Really loved Celeste. Design wise and character wise. Sure, i do disagree with her killing them for her selfish reasons. But the good just overshadows the bad. Her and Junko are probably the best designed characters in the first game.

In Danganronpa V3 at least they used that idea with Gonta, but as it turns out Gonta was in fact the culprit (even though Kokichi planned it, Gonta was still the one who carried it out and was the blackened).

1:15:27 is the BEST!! The voice switch where she drops her accent is just so sudden, but very smooth!
i really disliked celeste at first, i was super pissed she killed off taka. however, i really liked her motive, it tied into her character really well. i also liked the confusion bewteen taeko yasahiro and yasahiro hagakure. it was a pretty small detail in the grand scheme, but it left an impact on me. finally, her dropping her accent and admitting defeat was just incredibly powerful. her last words really made me question if she deserved to be executed so awfully. it was pretty obvious she was the culprit, she objected pretty often, but still. this case is the one out of all three games that managed to avoid third case syndrome, and pulled off a satisfying murder case.

From laughter, of course, because that was just so out of place and ridiculous even in a crazy game like this.
In a previous chapter of this playthrough, I jokingly made a comment about Byakuya confirming the Illuminati. It's like the game read my mind.
With that out of the way... whoa. Okay, so in this chapter we have our first genuinely villainous perp. I had my suspicions about her from her introduction, even suspecting her to be the culprit in Chapter 1 at first. She was immediately established as dishonest by virtue of being the "Ultimate Gambler," and through her suspiciously non-Japanese name, which even at the beginning Makoto questioned. Plus she was an Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette and frequently engaged in Finger Tenting, and had RED EYES. You know what those attributes say? They say "I'm evil, don't fuck with me."
Her shadiness only intensified as she proved herself capable of telling convincing lies without even flinching (she fooled CAREBEAR-SENPAI for crying out loud) and when she briefly lost her shit with Hifumi during the milk tea scene. Yes, I mentioned before that that scene was foreshadowing something later, and given the role of Celeste and Hifumi in this chapter, I suspected that was gonna finally play out. I was right. Celeste made Hifumi her bitch, just like before, but to far more dire ends than just milk tea.
Watching her behavior throughout the chapter, and particularly how she was quite a bit more vocal and contrarian than normal during the trial, it soon became clear she was the one. Seeing her go batshit insane as her lies shattered around her was gloriously terrifying, and her confession at the end... "Are you asking me to feel guilty? That's a pointless endeavor. I think
nothing of sacrificing others for my own ends. I feel nothing." And what are these "ends"? To... live in a castle, as borderline royalty. All of that elaborate calculation, all of that cunning, planning, killing, deceiving, was for a completely selfish and petty hedonistic desire for power and luxury. Celeste is a textbook psychopath, through and through. Out of all the perps so far, she was the only one who can be said to have earned her death. Would've been better for it to have been at the hands of someone actually qualified to pass judgment on criminals, though. You know, someone who isn't EVEN MORE OF AN INSANE BASTARD THAN EVERYONE HE COULD EVER POSSIBLY EXECUTE?
Now, the ending. Sakura's the spy...!?

And, oh, I guess it really WAS a creepy bald guy. Or at least, I couldn't see their hair from under the headmask. The hell did he do to Makoto? Is this that "despair disease" I remember reading about? Is it the same as what Monokuma "did to [Kyoko's] body"? Gaaaah, 2manyquestion4me. Seems I'll find out sooner or later.
And I suppose I should have been a little suspicious of Hifumi from the get-go as well, since he has those Scary Shiny Glasses. You know, like a certain EXTREMELY FUCKING EVIL Ace Attorney villain has... But Hifumi was such a spineless wimp that I had to dismiss it as a comical attempt at intimidation. In hindsight, perhaps it was a hint to the player: "keep your eye on this guy." Strange that Byakuya and Toko, the other two glasses-wearers, don't have that mannerism, considering they're both psychos...
You have to admit that she’s isn’t totally evil though... after being exposed she doesn’t resist, and she doesn’t expose alter ego to monokuma even though she could drag everyone down with her

Anyone else like the music they play during Celeste's execution, the way its so majestic at first would be the way i'd wanna die, but the despair she must've felt when she saw that firetruck coming towards her when she must've thought she was gonna die a way that she would approve of.
In the first couple trials I noted that Celeste was a decent help. She brought forward good evidence and made some great points. The big three was Makoto, Kyoko and Celeste.
Then, she just... wasn’t. It made it obvious from the start that she was guilty.
Wanna know a fact that makes this trial a whole bunch sadder? Yasuhiro was the only one to reach out to try and help Taka after Mondo's death.

don’t get me wrong, celeste’s plan was incredible but it was kinda obvious she would be the culprit. in fact she was my first guess before the trial even started. plus it didn’t help that it was she was the only one being stubborn and trying to persuade everyone in another direction during the trial and not helpful or believing in the slightest.
i'll be honest, i didn't know celeste was guilty until far into the trial, but now rewatching it i can see she's quick to defend herself and act clueless when she needs to

My favourite trial, not because of the mystery (it was obvious who the killer was)
But Celeste showing her true colours and the fact hifumi was an accomplice really made this trial my all time favourite
You know what I find disturbing about the voice actors?
The one doing the teddy bear is the same voice actor for a character in Doreamon called Sneech for the english dub.
(and I think Doreamon's english voice actor is the same as the bear's in the english dub of the game's adaptation)
Kinda funny the same actor plays the role of adorable cute childhood friend toy-thing and is the voice actor of a demonic robo bear.
And Yasuhiro's english voice actor is the same english actor for another Doreamon character called Big G.
Holy shit, the start of this trial is VERY different after you know who did it.
