- "Pasacalle" was composed by Gaspar Sanz in about 1674 for the Spanish baroque guitar. Sanz's body of work forms part of today's classical guitar pedagogy and repertoire. This transcription is by Emilio Pujol.

Good Evening Daniel,
This is a lovely piece. It's new to me but unmistakably Spanish. I was intrigued by the term Pasacalle. Pasa I know from my rudimentary Spanish is step, pass or cross and Calle is Street so we have a Street step or crossing. I since found out that it is in fact a dance style from the era and was considered pretty racy at the time!
So here I go chasing down another rabbit hole following Gaspar Sanz and 15th century dances. How wonderful you are bringing such delights and enrichening our lives.
I could not help but notice that you are not wearing your wedding band. Is this since the finger operation? Just being me nosy I guess.
Bright sunny day here with a chill in the air. Super! Great! Such a relief that the rain has finally eased and with any luck we are entering an antediluvian dry spell even though it is chilly.
Thanks for posting this piece. It really is good.
Keep Safe and Keep Playing
Clive
Thanks Clive!
Another feature of the Passacalle or Passacaglia is that it's in triple meter (metre). It originated in early 17th century Spain and is still used today by composers.
Yes, the finger operation interfered with wearing a ring -- I'm happy to report there are no insurmountable problems in the marriage at this point.
It's going to be much colder for us this next week. So far we've lucked-out with avoiding the disasters that are plaguing the planet.
