    I'm a none Audi owner and find this video a great insight to how the suspension system works on the RS4. It's really nice seeing the owner also wanting it to stay standard.
    👏

      It's a fully hydraulic system, no electronics at all, it is quite unique

    I too have an original B7 RS4 Avant (Deep Green) and when i bought it 18 months ago I knew the DRC lines were rusty so i elected to have them swapped out, fortunately all my shocks were dry, however once I see them weeping I will change them out too and will do all 4. I really do love to see the oriniginality in these cars. The DRC ride when the system is pumped up and working correcly is better than any coil-over system, no body roll on cornering, no squatting on acceleration either, its a lovely ride. Keep the great videos coming. I see you have an RS2 in the background, i owned 2 of them at the same time, lovely machines and fairly easy to maintain too. I had a full underneath restoration done on one of mine, cost a fortune but well worth doing, RS2s are reknown for looking fantastic on top but rotten as a pear underneath. Ive just subscribed to your channel and hope theres loads of good RS4 and RS2 content.

      @camau3 Thank you very much, much appreciated 👍 it is true, the DRC is a fantastic system! I have already done a video on the RS2 here:

    Great job . I went Coilovers a few years ago because of leaky rear shocks

      @@SuperRon indeed but as said it keeps the car OEM . Coilovers are ok but can be a little overkill on certain roads .

    Nice job! Love how DRC works. I was afraid of maintenance price at first, but than I find out that each shock could be rebuilt for $100 in my country. 3 years passed, still no leaks 😊

    You must absolutely love customers like the owner of this one, not arguing about the cost of parts or trying to have you fit cheaper options or scrapyard rubbish 😅 im the same on a cheaper scale with my cars, a mechanic friend of mine looks after my vehicles and if he finds things along the way, he just does them as he knows ill want something fixing if its broken, and wont quote me crap parts as theres no point fitting them 👌

    • @SuperRon
      @SuperRon  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes 100% that. We've got to the stage of we don't fit customer supplied parts, we don't fix quote or quote match, and that narrowed down our customer base to people who want the job done once and done right. It's a great privilege to have the customers we do 😁

    Dont envy u! I done a few of these too and they are a pig. Charge machine is fun too airline to vacuum and a handpump to refill. Nipples always snap too. Fair play to u guys for taking on anything no matter how fiddly👍💪

    Bought the last production year ( 2015 ) RS4 assuming they had sorted DRC by then. WRONG ! One shock while in warranty then another went out of warranty.Replaced with KW3 coil-overs and holy crap batman ! Wish I’d done it years ago. No I cant change from ( too ) soft to ( far too ) hard any more but don’t miss it because never did it much any way.These coil overs wipe the floor with DRC, no comparison. If you have DRC whether you need replacement or not it’s worth it just for the improvement in cornering and ride.

    When you had the rear subframe out I’d have used a Dinitrol rust stopper and cleaned and treated the subframe prior to refitting.

    • @Braggy1
      @Braggy1 Před 5 měsíci

      They’re rot boxes they need stripped, rust treated and undersealed properly. Judging by the amount of rust that was underneath, the jacking points will have probably had some holes in too. Most owners won’t know as they can’t see what lurks under the side skirts. My drc failure ended up turning into a restoration on mine.

    Not related to this video: From your experience what are the chances that my alternator belt tensioner is going to have not 'lost tension' when I go to reinstall it with new belt on a 2007 b7 rs4 with 173,000 KM. Just a guess from your experiences would be helpful! Trying to avoid buying a new tensioner for now!

    • @SuperRon
      @SuperRon  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It's not a common problem, so should be fine, just check for a noisey bearing but I've not had to replace one before.

    At 0:48, is it possible the bolts were not the issue and the swirl flap broke. I've heard that in addition to bolts backing out, the swirl flaps weaken over the years and they snap due to pressure from bolts, which is how it looks like that one broke. Only posting this for clarification as there are people I have come across who think if they put the bolts back with thread locker, they will be fine, meanwhile what they are doing can create a flap snapping doomsday...

      @SuperRon  Před 7 měsíci

      I know what you mean with the fracture point, and it is possible if the carbon builds up on the edge but the spindle is still pushing on it, but the screws were missing on these and imprinted in the pistons!

      The C6 and B8 Rs's also still had DRC so they must still have regular jobs. At £400+ a recharge its not cheap though!
