Hi there! Thanks for the video. For USMLE purposes... would imipramine still be first-line or is prazosin the better option now for nightmares? Thanks!
did you find out?
If imipramine used in nightmare to reduce REM duration, why is it used for enuresis?
Enuresis happens in stage 3 and 4 which are deep sleep and imipiramine is supposed to reduce those stages!
Thank you Dr Bolin. I wanted to check - dopamine agonists produce arousal and dopamine antagonists are sedating... so shouldn’t natural dopamine levels be decreased in sleep?
Thank you Dr. Paul,
where can we find your presentation ? so we can revise it instead of watching the video every time ..

I’ve had hypnagogic hallucinations my whole life, since I was a kid. I’m female, 5’3’ and 135lbs. And now at 37 years old, these hypnagogic hallucinations are negatively affecting my life substantially and all doctors I’ve seen have never heard of this. I’ve never had cataplexy nor sleep attacks during the day, but I do feel very tired and brain foggy during the day. And I’ve been told I may have adult ADHD. What should I do? I asked my primary physician to do a sleep study but what if that day I don’t happen to have a hypnagogic hallucination? (They don’t happen every single night) is there anything else you can recommend?
I would recommend to see a sleep specialist and evaluated for Narcolepsy. He will order a sleep study in center followed on the next day with Multiple Sleep Latency Test.
Please I need help with nightmares
You should go to a doctor then!
