Always amazed how they get so much done with so little tools and equipment.
As the saying goes . A bad workman quarrel with his tools. We don't have a lot of tools so we just do the work.

Странно , в каждой мастерской Пакистана точат гильзы цилиндров пачками , а тут мада ин жапан . Недоверяют отечественному производителю .
funny thing, in europe mechanics have special clean rooms for engine assemby, while they do this outside on sandy paddock ;p
Not ideal conditions. However, with a little care the same results can be achieved.
I have rebuilt one or two car engines, out side, using common methods, like this. They worked fine.
diesels are far more forgiving
Things doesn't work without some "assembly sand". :)

Torque specs, clearance checks, cylinder hone...who needs that! Few pounds of sealer, good to go...maybe 3-4 months before another PARTS CHANGE.

маловато герметика они кладут)
По поводу организации рабочего места то ты прав,а на счёт старых поршней то это от бедности людей. Помню как в детстве отец перебирал Газ 53 он так-же подкладывал бумагу под вкладыши а поршни не помню! Это было 90-95 годы точно не помню, потому что сам был маленький
200000 км предел для этого двигателя после ремонта.
Кто знает, а чего это чёрное они мажут перед установкой прокладки головки?

F**k it. It works ok alright. Just like a 5 stud tyre. If one wheel nut is missing it still works.

New head gasket as well, i thought he was going to carve one from a goats hide (LOL)
And in the uk we would never think of rebuilding an engine in a car or truck. It would simply be replaced as its more cost effective. 😞
That is true. But even so, the Haynes manual is still explaining how to completely rebuild an engine. Surprise me every time..🤔

The guarantee is out the gate and we are no longer to blame for it.

I can confirm it will do 100,000 or more very easily. The best of mechanics in the world, unlike western mechanics that use one word when engine being seized “scrap it”. Only because they don’t know of the skill.

Старые поршни в новые гильзы... Нахрена? Зачем масло жидкое на прокладки головы? Загадочные пакистанцы..
Жидкое масло пригорит , закоксуется и будет как герметик.
Раньше старые советские грузовики тоже так делали и даже подобное видел при ремонте волги

I'm surprised these engines stay together without using a torque wrench. They should have something under the box holding it up when it's raised while working under it in case the hydraulic pressure gives out. Don't want to see these guys get hurt.
30 years ago we didnt have them . We had a chart that gave the angle you had to tighten different dia bolts once they had been snuggled up.
Never had a problem ever of stretched bolts.

Waaaay too many shortcuts:
(1) Did not hone the new sleeves. Engine break-in will be iffy at best and likely knock 50,000 kilometers off the engine life.
(2) Did not check and adjust ring gaps. Engine is likely to have low compression and burn oil, or break rings.
(3) Head bolt torque likely to be 50% too low or too high.
(4) Missing flywheel bolt.
It's debatable whether this economy rebuild is going to be worth it. Any one of 20 things could go wrong in the first 1,000 miles.

It’s an adequate job to get the truck on the road with minimal resources. It’s fine.
But that V8 sounded good.
It would be interesting to have the mileage, on the engine. and or, when the last rebuild might have been. The bolt might not have been there.
No need to hone new liners/sleeves
Everything carefully torqued to spec . I'm sure ? Sure I heard an elbow click a couple of times !

All bolts were tightened with torque wrench in compliance with recommended torque.
Old pistons into new sleeves. Old rings? What for this brown shit under and oil on head gasket? Tightening by hand, no need for torque wrench. Silicone is best for everything. All jobs like always in sand.
Gasket cement, but I don't know why they didn't coat the entire surface instead of just around the cylinders.
@@BrucePierson as i know head gasket shiuld be installed with no any additives. Dry gasket on dry surface.
@@blazeykk you may want to use something like Permatex Spray-A-Gasket sealant, it's really good for high performance gas engines with a sandwich-metal gaskets. Not sure about diesel ones.
@@BrucePierson yes but what to they call Indian Head in Pakistan? That was definitely an Indian Head bottle of shellac.
There are levels of skill here far beyond the difficult surroundings there being practiced in, it's a pity someone wouldn't invest in some proper tooling and work area etc.
There is no skill involved. Skill assumes knowledge of procedures and understanding them. These people bend rules everywhere with miserable results. You won't trust you engine for repairs to them because most likely it will be harmed beyond any repair after their service.

I would be curious to know how many miles these engine are good to go up to after such rebuilding, stating that many aspects were "approximative" let's say. Probably more than we suspect, as it must not be their first attempt, they probably know that they can keep old pistons or old head bolts without major problems :D
That first sleeve he installed didn't look flush with the block.
Very good restoration with sand and road dirt) so nice, I think this engine now can drive about 1'000'000 km)))

En una reparacion como esa es de suma vitalidad utilisar la llave torque en varios video de ustedes es podido notar la hausencia de esa gran herramienta tomen eso bien en cuenta como uno puede darle 200 libra sin la llave torque no hay forma

These guys are so intuitive their sensitivity is heightened most mechanic have torque wrench’s but these guys work by years of instinctive know how it’s a gift and only the most experience mechanics have a specific skill that defines belief and self confidence these skilled engineers mechanical wizards are capable artist in their trade

Нарушили все правила сборки - ужас.
так они поршня просто от нагара почистили и назад поставили и сделали гильзовку движка, выработка на поршнях осталась, затягивают болты не динамометрическим ключом, а какой то трубой и наверняка с перетяжкой, судя по ржавчине на головке она где то валялась и не факт что плоскость выровняли так же нагар маслянный в выпускных и впусных коллекторах висит - не отмывали, перед установкой прокладки и т.д. поверхность обезжиривают бензином, но тут наоборот смазывают отработкой, про допуски в зазорах и т.д. страшно даже представить + всё собирается на открытом воздухе где куча песка который попав в двигатель будет работать как абразив и делать задиры и т.д. такая переборка наверное на 20 000 км и потом опять капиталка, волосы на голове дыбом
