I love how it turned from like a painting of a 5-year-old, to a painting that you would see in a museum
I know what you mean. I was thinking "he really messed this one up" but then it came to life and turned out beautiful. That could be why some artists don't like to show their paintings until it is finished.

@@dylanperalez3939 Yeah, I've since learned not to. His paintings always come out better than my landscapes, even though I try to copy his techniques. But I do other types of oil paintings, not just landscapes. And some of his techniques are applicable to them. So thanks to Bob, I have sold a couple of my paintings, when I wasn't even trying to sell them. Some friends showed images of them to their friends, and some then asked if I would sell one they liked. I did.

@@Jose07-_213 Not much. I sold them pretty cheap (less than $100 each) because they only took me an hour or two. I like to go fast like Bob ! I don't have the patience to spend weeks or months on a painting.

I remembered watching him back in the 1980s when I was growing up. I loved all of his videos. Years later I didn't see him on tv anymore. Thanks to youtube. Thank you youtube for bringing all videos of Bob Ross. I watch his videos all the time. It was a tremendous loss when he passed away. I was very sad. May you rest in Heaven peacefully. I'll see you one day. God Bless.

Even though he's sadly not with us anymore, I still go back to these every day, not to paint, but just to watch how satisfying it is to see a masterpiece come together.

I didn’t grow up with Bob Ross but heard so much about him. After watching a few videos I realize my generation missed out on a true inspiration.

My Dad tells me I was a happy accident 😂
Bob’s voice and his teaching techniques was mesmerizing. He was able to put people watching him in a trance. With his happy little mistakes that we as artist all make, he taught us to be kind to ourselves, little critters and use our mistakes as a added interest to our paintings. Although he was not a “professional” high priced artist, he gave those of us watching him a chance to escaped from reality and the world we are living in and created our own masterpieces. You were one in a billion and blessed our world with your presence and teachings. RIP Bob Ross 🙏🎨

Bob Ross was only 52 when he died. That's how old I am. I still have so many paintings I want to make, and I know Bob did too. Bob was born in 1942, the same year as Joe Biden. Bob should still be alive, painting today.
he brings so much happy memories to me when i see this, my wife and I would spend a quiet Tuesday afternoon listening to him as well as watching him, his voice was peaceful and his painting superb, sadly, he passed away and so did my wife.

Philip Martin Some people can't relax before sleeping and therefore need to be calmed down. There can be many causes of this. One of which is to be stressed. Sometimes it can also be about the thought activity. I could specify more if needed.

I don't know how many times I came back for your help Mr. Ross. You were with me during all of my anxiety episodes, you helped me to calm down a little bit after my father died. Years and years those videos help me to forget about the reality and just listen
30-35 years ago at this point, I remember being home sick from school and watching the Joy of Painting. Oddly enough I remember this exact episode. Even odder is CZcams has it as a random recommendation... Amazing that even today, 30 minutes of watching this man paint is enough to remind you that things are going to be ok. Miss you buddy!
I always watched Bob Ross when I was home sick from school and I still do it as an adult. It's just comforting.
All that story and the fact CZcams recommended this to you "randomly" dosen't call your attention? Dude, I got freaked some time ago when I THOUGHT of learning how code and program, I didn't told anyone, I never searched for it at that point. Danny it’s not easy to stay at home as it seems, especially for people who suffer of depression or are used to stay away from home most of the day because work or studies.
In my case I used my busy routine not to be depressed.

@@tommillard4193 Its the second time he's made the painting. He would do the original painting for an episode over the course of a couple days, then he'd bring it in for taping and keep it off screen for him to look at as a reference. Sure he was skilled, but he's not doing it all on a creative whim.

This is one of my favorites of his work! And it was thanks to this man that I got into painting with Gouache and Watercolor. My love and respect for Art was thanks to his show. I remember watching his show frequently on PBS. Miss those days and his show is a definite ASMR for me. Thanks Bob Ross and miss you!
