  • When just backwashing isn't enough to keep your swimming pool running smoothly.
    This video shows you how clean out the leaf trap and the pump's impeller to make sure you have good water flow / pressure going through your pump / filter.

    Thank you! I spent 3 hours pulling my hair out and taking everything apart to figure out why I kept getting a low flow warning. Turned out I forgot to put back the gasket on the impeller plate @5:51. Glade I found your video. You saved whats left of my sanity lol

    Thank you that really helped. Mine was so clogged with hair and junk. I haven’t cleaned it out like that for three years. I Didn’t know to take the screws apart and clean that one section. Thank you so much

    Thumbs UP on your great video. I was going nuts trying to figure out why my pump didnt have that strong return as it first did when I got it. I done two backwashes and rinse and still couldnt get it. Well after seeing your video, I done what you show in the vid and YES !!! There was my problem... I cleard the impeller and all was right. Strong return. I'm once again happy thanks to you. Big ol Hug and Handshake for ya guy.... Thanks again.

    Thanks! I really didn't want to take the pump apart, but your video showed how easy it was. Found pine needles and hair clumped inside the impeller. Cleaned it out and the pump is back to full song! And power. Thanks again!

    You need to add Vaseline to all the seals to prevent water seeping out. It does NOT damage the silicon 'O 'rings, as has been suggested on various CZcams videos. It is recommended by Intex.

    • @geoffphuketInPhuket
      @geoffphuketInPhuket Před 4 lety +1

      I have a policy of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I've no idea, but it sounds like you've accidentally lost an O ring?

      geoffphuket no it’s on the control center next to the filter that holds the filter on. Sorry, very bad with the terms of the unit. The piece he unscrewed in the video that has 8 screws sealing it. I unscrewed it to clean it and now the screws don’t tighten all the way. So it’s leaking and the machine can’t run without it sealed. I tried the trick of putting a toothpick in and then the screw and it made one of them tight. I’m going to see if that works

      You have got the locating notch in the correct position? It didn't need toothpicks during manufacture... And it certainly doesn't now!

    Those nuts can EASILY strip out the plastic in the back of those screws. I would suggest placing your pump in some shade, to limit the UV damage to the plastic.

    First time I see the impeller of an Intex sand filter, just was curious. ;) Why not putting a fine nylon mesh in the strainer basket, saves you time taking the pump apart.

    • @fivemusketeers9512
      @fivemusketeers9512  Před 7 lety

      Yeah, that's a good idea.
      So far I haven't had any trouble with my impeller getting dirty, the strainer on the outlet and the leaf basket have done their jobs, but if that changes, definitely something to consider.
      Thanks for the idea.

    • @TheDenyingDutchman
      @TheDenyingDutchman Před 7 lety

      You're welcome. I put a fine mesh over my skimmer basket, which is basically the same although the Intex skimmer by design has a lot of water passing the basket going directly into the outlet and into my filter cartridge. But hey, every bit of debris trapped before the filter helps.

Came back and realized it was running on CLOSED (X) setting. It has low pressure and not good pressure on the inlets A and B but good inflow pressure. It is a sand pump. Any suggestions sure sure sure appreciated. Thanks if you can give me any ideas.

Found out the missing piece just diverted water it probably would have caused too much damage but definitely a slow leak
