    I have watched many many reviews on this machine and this is by far the BEST review! Thank you so much for sharing all you did and also tidbits along the way. Your review is greatly appreciated.

      Thanks, jasn, this is very much appreciated! CZcams changed things up again recently and I was just thinking this is really not worth doing anymore, but you reminded me why I make videos - to help people. Now if people could just be SHOWN the videos, that would be nice. I suspect you found me through a search for Vision reviews. Thanks for persisting through all the videos the algorithm favors to find me, and for letting me know it was helpful!!

    Excellent review 🎉
    It always bugs me when "reviews" are no more than spitting out the back of the box and a token, "I like it." They obviously spent no time on the product and think very little of the audience.

    Looking forward to hear about your experiments with the clear/blue/white acrylic! Would like to see how to engrave acrylic dice blanks on this machine.
    Ive enjoyed your videos for a while, and finally this looks like a laser cutter that could be a great fit for my little workshop!

    • @GreylightMay
      @GreylightMay  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thanks, ScreemBean! Have you seen my prior dice video: czcams.com/video/1MNsgO0qJOQ/video.html
      The process should be the same, the experiments would be around materials and masking. I did engrave these through masking paper, to make them easy to paint. I will have to test if that works on the diode. That is a great project idea, because dice engraving is a popular topic and the diode laser is a great fit if I find a good solution for the wavelength issue!

      @@GreylightMay Yes!! it's the first video of yours I watched. I was looking to see if i could engrave dice myself for my small business (after a manufacturer did a poor job) and at the time I could find plenty of tutorials about engraving wooden dice, but I prefer acrylic - I was very happy to find your channel!

      @GreylightMay  Před 5 měsíci

      I'm making a note to look for leftover blanks in my supply cabinet, and I'll put dice on my project list. It may take a couple months, but I will definitely run some tests and share the results!

      Thank you! It took quite a bit of time to put this together, but I learned a lot, and I always enjoy that. I'm really looking forward to doing projects on the Vision, because it is a much more accessible machine than my 80w CO2. I feel like this product category can really expand the laser cutting community, which is a good thing. It is such a fun hobby!

    One thing the manufacturer (and CZcams reviewers) do not mention is that this machine's auto-focus feature will not work properly on a curved surface. Your lased item must be flat, unless you're in the rotary setup.

    • @GreylightMay
      @GreylightMay  Před měsícem +1

      edd, I haven't had this particular issue but I have provided my own feedback that they need to add a manual option. There have been a couple of situations where I really needed the ability to position the place where the focus laser hits. I can also think of instances in the past where I've adjusted the height based on the type and thickness of material. A curved surface is another good example. An advanced user needs more flexibility.

    Finding it interesting how similar their software UI is to Cricut Design Space as if the same folks developed both. Also, wondering how well this can engrave and cut 1/16" leather for baseball cap embellishments?

    • @GreylightMay
      @GreylightMay  Před měsícem

      I haven't done leather yet, Lance, but my experience so far would lead me to believe that this is a great leather machine. It should easily cut that thickness, and more cleanly than I get on my OmTech. I will have to put leather on my project list! The ventilation on my 80watt CO2 laser is so powerful it is difficult to keep the leather in place. I made special magnetic clamps for that, but they don't work on the knife bed in the Vision, so I'll have to come up with a different clamping strategy. I've found that anything that fits in the WeCreat bed, I prefer to do there. So much of what I do is small, the OmTech is getting lonely!

    Lady Greylight May, we purchased the Unit with the Fume extractor-thinking I didn't need the level of skill as I see you have MASTERED-such a great teacher-thank you for this review. I just subscribed to your channel.
    We had hoped to light it up and go, but instead Found the Laser unit defective. Tech support had me pull the laser module. They have sent me a new one. No instructions how to install nor what the unique pieces were in the replacement box. I think WeCreat wants to be a helpful but it is only by email and with the time difference in China, I don't commonly see email responses until the middle of the night-MST. They are very kind and want to help. They just don't have all the needed how to do this & that for us the users. I need to install this laser module, and found NO ONE has any instructions on how that can be done, what the parts that came with the replacement laser are for as well as how to attach the hose in the tiny space from where it was detached.
    My request is Can you do a lesson on that...WeCreat has a posted a module "How remove the Laser Engraver" It doesn't function well to just do that step by step to install the replacement.

      @GreylightMay  Před 4 měsíci

      Oh no! I'm so sorry you are having this problem. As just one of the over 70 different CZcams content creators they sent machines to, I don't have a way to contact them other than their online support page, but I will try to help. Did they send you any documentation for how to install the new unit? Here is my email: greylightmay@gmail.com
      As I said in my video, I'm not a techie, but I can act as a second pair of eyes. Let's take this conversation to email, and see if we can get your machine up and running!
      Update: I just sent an email to support asking for information and the replacement module they sent you so I have something to work with. Hopefully they will be responsive!

      @@GreylightMay thank you for the reply, No-absolutely nothing in writing came with the replacement Laser unit module...it was beautifully packed but no instructions. Studying the machine, I see where the angle bracket which was in the box is mounted in the far left of the Rail which holds the Laser Module. That piece had no part in the removal of the laser...so didn't think it was a part in the laser install. My install of the laser had the plug-in/play connection which runs with the length of the rail as the laser moves-doing it's job. That cable [that's what I call it, but it is not identified in any of the manual's info] was originally secured by some heavy duty black tape like band aid tape, which I had to remove when taking out the original defective laser unit. Now that connection has to be plugged back into the new Laser Module, I don't know that its as it should be, I got no direction [though I have reached out to the team for help-just no reply yet]. Has anyone gotten a break through in resolving the problems I am having? The thus far, as I have installed it, laser won't even project a red beam. HELP! If anyone can give me assistance, I want this WeCreat unit [which I purchased 2/10/24 and has yet to be able to make a project like I see everyone else is doing-so envious!]

      Colorado, I think if I were in your position I would tell them you want to return the laser cutter for a full refund. Maybe that will get their attention and you will get the support you need. If not, you will have your money back and you can choose whether or not you want to order another one.
      I have just checked my email, and they have not responded to me yet. Getting support from China is very problematic, as you said, for time zone reasons - always day long delays. Could you send the link to what they have posted about how to remove the laser module? I haven't been able to locate that. My understanding is that you did that in reverse and it doesn't work. Perhaps the problem is more than just the module itself, which is why returning it may be the right answer. You should not be expected to be able to repair your machine!

    • @GreylightMay
      @GreylightMay  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hi Colorado! I got a response back from WeCret with the link to "how to replace the laser module" support.wecreat.com/hc/en-us/articles/9124065920015-How-to-Replace-the-Laser-Module
      I think this is what you did to remove yours, and you did these steps in reverse to put the new one in? And not even the red laser pointer works?
      They say they are planning to make a video, but no promise of when that might be.

    Nice review, I don't know if I missed it, is the WeCreate program supported? Do you have to be connected to the internet to use it? No matter the answer I look forward to seeing your projects.

    • @GreylightMay
      @GreylightMay  Před 5 měsíci

      My understanding is you do not need to be connected but I didn't test that because I was always online. There is support for everything through their website but they are in China, so I am not sure how fast their response is. Thanks for the comment, I'm glad this was useful!

  • @ramonamckee5367

    My primary purpose for considering a laser cutter is to make a single step cut and seal using polyester fabric - I make patches and I currently manually cut my fabric with scissors or a home cutting machine and then I have to run an open flame on the edge to seal the fabric to keep it from unraveling. A laser will complete this in one step. But, I need to cut white fabric. A twill type fabric for example - Will this machine cut a white fabric? and if not, what if a press a black interfacing onto the white - will it then cut?

    • @GreylightMay
      @GreylightMay  Před 4 měsíci

      Ramona, my understanding is that it should have no problem with white fabric, especially if it has a matte finish. White wood, for example, works fine. It seems to be acrylic that is the real problem for the blue laser. A reflective material sometimes interferes with the autofocus, I hear, so a shiny white fabric might have some issues there. I myself haven't tested fabric on this laser yet, but I've been impressed with how clean the cuts are, with little to no smoke marks. That would be important for patches. I would send an email to the WeCreat support address to ask this question specifically. I'm sure they've tested most materials.

    I jist ordered the WeCreat and i am super nervous afrer reading the lack of support if something goes wrong. This is a costly machine for no support.

    • @GreylightMay
      @GreylightMay  Před 29 dny

      I agree, so far support is the only negative I've found. It exists, but it's all online and it comes from China, so there is a built in time lag. I'm hoping this will improve soon, but I have no inside contacts, so I don't know what the company's plans are. The good news is it's a well made product, so the need for support should be less. There is also a sizable community of owners already, and there are a lot of talented and helpful people in the group, so short of needing to replace hardware, which only WeCreat can do, you can get advice and information from the user community. But your point remains a good one: for the price you've paid, you have a right to expect support!

      You will have so much fun! The Vision is the easiest laser cutter I've ever used, and you will really enjoy it.
      To head off the only potential issue I've had, watch this video of mine czcams.com/video/QpRB9oYtWes/video.htmlfeature=shared
      at about 8:50 in. It is possible the air assist hose is rubbing back and forth along a sharp metal edge when the machine is in use. The video shows my simple solution, which is to wrap the edge with a piece of adhesive backed felt strip. This has worked well for me, and protects the hose from getting cut. Hopefully, WeCreat has addressed this, but just in case!!
