    Reading Champagne Football at the minute and what Dunphy said was true about getting other people to do the hiring. Delaney was pissed off been criticized after hiring Staunton and wanted someone else to take the flak if the next manager flopped

      When Jack's team failed the '96 Euros & he wanted to do a nice quiet with dignity step down in the New Year after the greatest 10yrs in Irish football the 'clowns' were already circling wanting him out pronto like he was a failure. The 'people' know different. Disgraceful.

    Champions league free to air on both nights with these lads....not forgetting George on commentary. ...Premiership on Saturday evenings, with even the odd 3pm kick off live for good measure. My god, we had absolutely no idea how lucky we were.

    It's interesting watching this after all these years. Dunphy really bought into corporate, Celtic Tiger Ireland. Newstalk culture. I expect he'd have a different opinion about managerial appointments now.

    BBC , ITV and sky sports you have nothing on this football panel. I only tuned into Irish matches when I knew these men would be on at half time and full time. Brilliant analysis with the hint of a punch up. Love it.

    Paul Jewell does seem utterly ridiculous now but his stock was high around this time. There were a lot of people disappointed he didn't get the job at the time.

      It's also like comparing apples and oranges when it comes to club football and international football. Gareth Southgate got Middlesborough relegated, but has been sensational for England. There are managers meant to be club managers, and there are some who make it work better with national teams. Mick McCarthy is a good example, took Ireland to the last 16, but was rubbish with Sunderland and Wolves.

    The funny thing is they don't seem to know much more then the 'non-football' people. All the suggestions are UK based. Unless they heard of another person like Philippe Troussier who was mentioned in the newspaper.
    They are doing exactly the same thing Dunphy critised the 10 men in the FAI for!

    Sick of Eammon's Bullshit, from as long as I remember Dunphy has been a critic of the irish manager. Eoin Hand, Jack charlton, Mick mcCarthy , Kerr, Stan, Trap are all not good enougn for Dunphy.
    Its simple our players are not that good, there ok but unless we get golden generation like Denmark had in the late 80's early 90's we will never win anything.
