Eamon Dunphy Graeme Souness fight about John Terry and Fabio Capello

- The Genie is out of the bottle according to Eamon Dunphy. Fabio Capello is a crap manager. He allowed John Terry to criticise his team selection. Souness states that John Terry should look at himself in the mirror because he is a useless player who blames everyone but himself. He is scum.
Dunphy accuses Capello of being a journeyman. He isn't a "serious" manager. Capello doesn't read the playbook of good management according to Dunphy.
Souness is absolutely stunned at what he is hearing. The studio goes silent for a few seconds. ouness launches an attack on John Terry - the man who cheated on his wife. He says that he has no right to make such decisions and should keep his mouth shut. It is the managers job to choose the team. The tail now wags the dog.
Dunphy says that Capello is a big mistake. Souness says that players are getting paid too much and that they should take a look at themselves. Dunphy lauches an attack on Souness over his comments. Souness says that John Terry is the one player who needs to take a look at himself because he is an idiot who only cares about money and women. - Sport
I just want to say RIP Bill O'Herlihy...
Okie doke
9 times out of 10 souness speaks sense and says the things others simply don't have the balls to say on air even give names to prove it.
agreed, once he has an opinion, and his character seems to say he takes his time forming them,i reckon he's completely inflexible.
He's way too biased against Inited to have a job talks utter shite when it comes to them and never could give them any credit
Souness nails it.
It's a sad reflection of the modern game.
Shame he changed his tune when it came to Ronaldo at Man Utd now
Souness is one of the best pundits around he says what he thinks and in most cases it's what the man on the street thinks
He defended Ronaldo for doing the same thing in 2022
Souness was brilliant.
Good debate, I think Graeme takes this particular one though.
Man , what a fantastic anchor Bill O'Herlihy was....sorely missed.
Graham Souness honed his reputation and pundit skills on RTE in the compamy of O'Herlihy, Giles Dunphy et al. The experience of this has shown to be true when he's on SKY or any of the Brit channels ... Great post
Souness is sooooooo right.I say bring back performance bonus. .......you perform well you get paid well, play bad you get your basic £500 a week, maybe then the respect for the game might return
best football analysis in the world love watching them after a match allways entertaining
How can Dunphy say the modern day players are more or less the same as they where years ago?? Not true at all. Souness won this debate hands down.
You do know who Eamon "that's showbusiness baby" dunphy is don't you? 😉

Talking sh!te as usual
Completely agree with Graeme money corrupts people.
As a Man. United fan since childhood, we were brought up to dislike Liverpool with an intense passion because for years we grew up in their shadow of dominance which made me shed tears a lot as a kid. The fact souness was a hard Liverpool player, Rangers manager and then liverpool manager compounded this but I have really grown to admire his opinion greatly and respect what he done as a player and the success the pool had in the 70s 80s. They built up a dynasty on hard work and ethics -cont'd.
Meanwhile your city has been invaded by muslims. Lol.
Alot of People still think he is a prick
Souness was never liked at Anfield but everyone respected him
@andrewallen1083 no they didn't. He was a dirty thug that got away with it as he could also play a bit.
@@ricksterk7014 he was a thug yes and should have been sent off lots of times I agree but he was a top player. Better than Henderson and fabinio anyway. Not quite as good as Gerrard
Souness is spot on. The problem is now a days is people worship money, It's there god and all these mediocre players on millions are treated like gods by the public because they are loaded and there presented to you as such because of who sponsors them so you then go and buy Adidias trainers or a nike tracksuit. Big business has corrupt football and stole it from the working man in order to profit at your expense at every turn.
Stupid hun.
Smug caucasoid a sevco fan talking about money 🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂
Their = belonging to them. They're = they are. There =That place.
Money = The devil - look at the state of the world and you can see the trouble money causes. Football is taken far to seriously and far to much money is in football, don't get me wrong it's not just football the whole world is loopy. Thankfully professional football won’t be around forever.
Well Said Graeme Souness.
RTE, on the ball providing this on their channel. Good on them!
Dunphy is the man - far better pundit than anyone on Sky, BBC, UTV . . . . Anywhere!
I'm not a fan of Graeme Souness but he's spot on with his assessment here. Terry is one of many overpayed and overrated players in the modern game who do nothing but whinge when things don't go their way. The other guy is living in dreamland. Of course money changes people, it doesn't matter whether it's football or something else. Problem is in football a lot of these guys are earning millions in their teens and early twenties and their ego goes through the roof.
***** yes he has and that's the lamest insult I've ever heard.
David Jack Terry is currently the best centre back in England and one of the best in his generation.
Souness' general point is absolutely right. Terry was wrong with this interview. However, using Terry as an example on this point was a misjudgment as, as much as I dislike what I've heard about Terry, he's certainly a top player.
supafuckinmingster John Terry has always been a slow third-rate defender.
MIKE LYONS Strange hes won the best defender in europe on 4 times but i guess Mike Lyons knows more than everybody else
"The omlette before the game" LOL!!!
Great debate.
Souness is 100%. In the 1980s when he played there were about 6 top players for England: Lineker, Hoddle, Robson, Waddle, Barnes and maybe Terry Butcher.
+xpat73
Also Peter Beardsley...
... and Steve Bull.
Stuart pearce
xpat73 Sounnes was referring to 6 top players playing in England during his time, knowing Souness he would have been including himself, Dalglish, Hansen, Rush, Robson and maybe Hoddle
great stuff and surprisingly from Souness as well!
RTE showing the way again with how to broadcast football.
souness is spot on ther.....
Why cant we have good, honest, frank punditry like this in England. No nonsense, not afraid of offending anybody, not afraid of going against the Sky party line, not afraid of going against the consensus of the know nothing audience which Football panders to these days. Great stuff
Dunpho on Terry: No, Graeme, he's a top player! And the top players are where they are because they are good people. Fundamentally good people.
Following week's headline: Terry in Team-mate's Wife Shagfest Romp!
Dunpho: Terry was never a top player, Bill.
I'm just glad the English media puts so much pressure on the team that they break. Hopefully it never changes.
Spot on Graeme, as he so often is, He tells it how it is, you cannot have players dictating, or even suggesting who the manager should pick.
John Terry is a knob!!
Kevin Davies probably on his sister.
An interesting perspective into this discussion could've been brought by John Giles, regarding the Brian Clough management period at Leeds United.
Dunphy such a legend 😁
Rte will be quite boring without him whenever he goes :/
Souness 20 +trophies, Dunphy 1, i know who's talking sense 😁
Souness, yet again, is bang on ! players today are undermining the man in charge, and that is bang out of order.
"lets fall out" 5:49 hahahahahaha
rte have to bring souness back,,, his debates with dunphy alot of the time were better than the game
Souness is so right. Good on him for saying
Souness talks the truth here and tbh i thought this was common knowledge?
that anyone would say this isnt the truth are just total idiots
managers arent even able to be aggressive to their players anymore, the only ones that are like that are old and from when the game was different
if you look at all the modern managers now they all have to tip toe around their players
Souness includes Rooney as one of the "top players" mentality wise?
Was this before or after he slagged off the England fans?
What else would I be watching on St Stephens night 2022
Souness is bang on, players care more about the lifestyle than the game this day and age.
"Lets fall out." - Graeme Souness, 2010. Brilliant.
Haaha Bill looks like he's wearin a bally at the start!!
Love the man
96 was the last England capable of performance and the midfield had platt and Gascoigne but it did not have the depth of the 1990 squad.
That team could still pass the ball not as well as the 1990 team but still to a high standard.
Can you seriously see the England team today mounting a challenge against a top team.
0:01 - 0:05 - Bill becomes a Rubberbandit haha
Souness says there was only ever half a dozen top players in the English league. Wow, that's harsh. Between his Liverpool team, the man u team of the 80s, Tottenham, etc, there were only 6 top players? That's a bold statement!
top man souness but no English player is top player especially rooney
workingclass man I agree , ive never rated rooney but I think Souness is referring to their attitude , and in that regard Rooney is a top player .
Wanker
Souness as usual is bang on the money. Overpaid, over hyped and over self obsessed.
chris moyles @ 0.22???
The thing about these RTE posts is they date very well .... most of what is being discussed is still happening .... a lot of this pundit stuff is illuminating and engaging. Souness has improved and is also worth listening to.
Souness is spot on the whole England team believe there better than they actually are and i feel this is because they qualify through an easy group, destroying most teams they play without actually been challenged by a top team.
Terry was thrown under the bus by his fellow England players.Souness is right about the modern day players.
The tail now wags the dog. Winner.
The pillows can be a problem, i stayed at a hotel once and i had an awful sore neck the next day. I could couldn't sit at the bar, i had to sit at a table. It was bloody awful.
Millwall's most capped international footballer, so yea he has played
well said GS!!
Fucking bang on!!
When the pen goes down, shit goes down!
completely agree
As it came to pass, Fabio Capello said the exact same thing as Souness, that the England players looked at anyone else except themselves when it came to responsibility for losing.
souness is spot on he knows what he's talking about
A lot of people are complaining about Capello's leadership and strategy. The fact is we all know England is football team that thinks itself better than it actually is. They brought in Capello for better discipline and order but what seems to have happened is short of blame game within the team (of which Terry is wholly responsible). Now tell me how is Capello supposed to organize the team if the media and even players are questioning his judgement? This is the problem.
I am very sorry for your loss
They need to get Souness back on again at some point as him and Dunphy are fun to look at we they get stuck in.
A cap on wages should have been implemented when the EPL was formed, don't even need hindsight to realise that.
The tail wags the dog? Souness forgets if it wasn't for the tail, he wouldn't have been a manager, nor a pundit for that matter. The boss needs the players, the players don't need the boss.
Lol, at Terry being world class. Anyone notice how Terry has only ever looked world class next to Carvalho? Just a coincidence maybe?
Man RTE coverage really fell down since then.. Joanne Cantwell would interrupt this debate every 10 seconds if this happened today
@scarliley I agree. I think when he works for Sky, Souness has to work to their more tailored agenda whereas with RTE he is let off the leash with their "tell it like it is" style. I like RTE's coverage but I can only get these snippets from CZcams unfortunately. Rather a shame it is not on my Sky box!
07:04. They're all top players. HAHAHAHAHA. Sorry, I'm Spanish and this was really funny.
08:13. He said John Terry is 'good people'? Forgive me, but I think the only thing John Terry hasn't done is kill someone. Pretty much done everything else. Racist, Adulterous, done for taking bribes to give tours at training ground, fights outside nightclubs, parked his car in disabled parking space, questioned pundits because they didn't win as much as him etc. He is not a good person.
I miss Bill O Herlihy miss this type of punditry now days
Complex?
I remember when the English league produced quality that was just as good as Europe.
England in 1990 had 5 world class midfielders and the team from back to front could pass the ball just as well as Germany, Italy, france and Brazil.
It is not a complex it is recognizing that the standard are lower. You only need to see German Vs England at the last world cup to see that.
If a 'manager' was entirely redundant then there wouldn't be such a thing as a football manager. They serve a purpose, and it's pure idiocy to suggest otherwise. Same as suggesting generals don't survey a battlefield. Oh, and Steve Martin is a legend. Not his recent output, maybe. But back in the day with stuff like the jerk and the man with two brains.....legend.
The money has nothing to do with it and is an excuse for the real problem.
There are only 5 clubs in the EPL that play passing football like teams in France, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Netherlands and Italy.
The rest only play rush and kick football as Franz Beckenbauer has stated.
spot on Graeme
this is the no.1 reason why watching football on Irish tv is 1000 times better then engerland, no one afraid to upset theyre "buddies" Redknapp, Neville.... jog on.
But the reason behind that in my opinion is Club rivalry.. The rivalry between the English clubs has escalated so high that the players chemistry with their international team is apalling, in this case its England
RTE has the best punditry for all it's sports. You get characters that aren't afraid to express their opinion. Be it dunphy, pat spillane, George hook, souness, Joe brolly, Brent pope. Love em or hate em it's great tv and analysis. Much better than any British one and the comments below prove that
How can Souness question Ashley Cole's pedigree? Fool!
Well hopefully the shift to a more passing game in the English league isnt that far off , at least there is a hint that the mindset is changing with the appointment of Brendan Rogers at Liverpool ,you would never have seen this 5 years ago , giving a young manager who encourages pure football a chance at a massive club ,normally they would have looked at a big name and their results regardless of their style , ie Houllier and Rafa .
I can't wait until John Terry retires and shows the whole football management world how a club should be managed. He's been doing it for years as a player so he should have no problem being a better manager than all those who've lost their job at Chelsea. No pressure JT !
I know he was a great pundit on RTE he's a shadow of this pundit on SKY
The Manager picks the team.
i admire dunphy and souness for speaking their mind especially eamon dunphy comparing to the bbc crap souness and dunphy are spot on about terrys press conference
I have to say that i dont always agree with Souness but by god he has this one bang on!
Capello didn't have a clue in south Africa.
He should of lost his job straight after the world cup based upon results, performances & decisions in team selections, substitutions, man/team management etc etc
should have lost his job
Souness all the way. Tells it how it is. Some people just can't or won't see it!
The first time I heard of Eamon Dunphy was about 17 minutes ago. In a 'show us your medals'-style argument, there are not too many people that Souness has to move aside for. That's what makes this hilarious! But this has NOT aged well....as one of the best players ever just downed tools at man utd.
Boyd. You sound like some Rangers f*ck
"Asley Cole could play left back for Barca" but he is not and I see no evidence that he is good enough he cannot make basic passes of the ball that Barca require.
In the EPL there is very little focus on passing football.
Spot on Souness, absolutely 100%.
you do know that more different teams have won the Spanish league title than the number of different teams winning the premiership tittle over the same time period .
well who would you back to win the Champions League , Barca managed by Tony Pulis , or Stoke City managed by Pep Guardiola
Say what you like about Dunphy and the RTE boys, they are pure entertainment when compare to the airbrushed circlejerk that is Match of the Day.
alot of luck agreed, but still they limited Bara's quality chances by holding strong in the back four. = good tactics.
Can't wait for the Euros. Even if Ireland are shite, these guys will make it worth watching.
I've watched enough football to know the manager isn't out playing on the pitch. Nor are the generals on the battlefield. And I hate Steve Martin.
dunphy is a legend .... the rte analysis is the best in the world .... sly sports and the bbc has nothing on them.
Souness Legend - totally right,
Also he has played more games for England than any other player at REAL WORLD LEVEL ie tournament football , the fact is every England manager he played under has trusted him at top level football and thought he was the best in the country in his position over a very long time , Chelsea had the money to attract any left back they saw fit and went for Cole , Arsenal have never replaced his consistent performances and are still struggling in that position as do England when hes not there .
he has faced the likes of Messi , Ronaldo, Robbin, Ribery , and Dani Alves in direct one on ones and has held his own in every game , and didnt give Alves a sniff in the first leg of champions league game and Alves was left out of second leg , if standing toe to toe with those players and coming off best isnt good enough to play for Barca or Spain i dont know what is
Graeme Souness great player and great man. Was a solid but skillful player and is right here and most of the time he speaks.
