    What I think is most important is that the power supply is the most forgotten, overlooked and most important piece of equipment on the bench. Doesn’t matter what machine is in your hand. If you don’t have clean, steady sufficient amperage to power it, the machine is worthless and it will show in your healed tattoos.

    Glad y’all put this review out, I got mine last week and it’s a game changer!! 👊

    Guys just get yourself a lab power supply 30v 5a it’s all you need. You are paying stupid prices for what they want you to use. Just get a linear power supply not a switching.

    I unfortunately gotta comment on this one but I am not going to dog on the Musotoku even though the form factor,build and name leave much to be desired for me at least. I can not say if reports of higher voltage output ( i.e. higher than indicated to lure those into thinking it has more "power")are true but this that follows is and cannot be changed by any manufacturer:
    Amperage means nothing as long as its over the draw ...period.
    Ohms law also cannot be broken thus most all machines typically draw an amp at best and 2 is plenty in a supply Clean regulated ripple free linear power is all that's needed and has already been stated below by flippa Chad harrington etc. . To be fair this supply has a few "extra" features as do many but its hardly a game changer in that aspect. Is it quality? I am not sure but I agree it's up there in price and would like to see it opened up or independently tested even though I have no use for it. Nor will I be buying or do I own a critical either, so in that context I feel reasonably objective.
    Just for those who want to believe the hype in general a maxon( just for example of decent rotary motor) brushed 10w at max output in torque draws less than an amp and stalls dead stop at 7 but you'd burn it then...for continuous use 12v/1A is max for nominal output at around 9krpm 150hz/cps and that's not even what you'd use on a human if not trying rip them apart unless have pretty quick hand speed .
    That's reality rest is B.S. Reliability is different animal however and maybe this supply has it..most newer digitals should. I admit to having a 25 year old gw instek ( no longer primary but still used regularly) and it still works trouble free as it will most likely outlive me . They are well under 2 bills today and I only have a 18v 3a as no need for more.the voltage is within a tenth and the regulation is less than 1 hundredth of a percent...I have emailed Musutoko for their specs we'll see if they respond with actual figures as any lab grade supply cannot deviate given intended use and cannot be overstated but I verified anyway.
    Am I saying run out and buy one? There is no need to have a 10 lb behemoth and many supplies do the job just fine even properly regulated digital ones...That's my take .I can back up the numbers and science easily can Musotoku?.But lets be honest Tattooing isn't exactly rocket science lmfao nor should it be.I rarely use coils anymore or my tank power supply as the daily driver but they still do the job . I have been using rotaries for decades as well. technology is a good thing however comma let's not lose sight that just like in any arena they are merely tools and unless they actually afford opportunity to do it better which is subjective unless proven , more efficiently or reliably then its just marketing no matter who or what.More is more but doesn't equate to better result.I won't get into societal overcompensation but it's there
    Love content on this channel btw and would love to hear more insight on different machines from Ty as he has much insight on using so many of them . that rubber meets the road is where the value is...

    Great power supply my biggest gripe was covering it tho.. not as easy as critical where bottle bags don’t work well because of the knob. I discovered a large ink cap goes right over the knob and can be used instead of there knob covers which are always out of stock.. and expensive there is a little slack but its working well for now. use a sheet of barrier film and make a little hole for knob boom machine covered my dudes . If you have a better way please be kind enough to let me know 👍🏻

    I have had a Musotuko power supply for 2 years and it has been as solid as a brick. I dont like how it just doesn't have a removable mount, with its sticky back anchor I have to leave that there. Seriously, that's the only issue which has never let me down when it comes to performance. I love my power supply. Musotuko is the shit!

  • @chadharrington1
    @chadharrington1 Před 5 lety +8

    He's really into that power supply! lol. Having 4 amps vs 1.5 amps doesn't really matter. A machine only draws as much amperage as it needs. Having more amperage available doesn't make a machine run any differently. If a machine only needs .5 amp to run.... it's never going to draw more than .5 amps . I used to be a mechanic... I'm agree with Flippa's comment. Tattoo power supplies are seriously pricey for what they do.

      I used to be a mechanic as well. I have 21 years on power supplies and this review was based on that. Not sponsored or paid. These are the exact same responses you will hear from everyone who owns a MUSOTOKU. Thanks for your feedback. If you ever run one, you will see the difference.

      @@tyatx9258 Hey Ty! Sorry, I didn't mean to offend. it's just you REALLY love that power supply! :) I'm absolutely sure that the Musotoku build quality is great. To me it seems like the idea of a boutique guitar pedal. My point is less about what you were saying and more that I find that tattoo power supplies, in general are really really expensive for the really small power demands a tattoo machine requires.
      Looking forward to more machine talk! Fascinated by the info you had mentioned about no give machines leaving smaller dots.

      @Ivan Matveyev The lcd display is off by .5 ,yes that is old news discovered long after our review and well covered all over the internet. If a Dan Kubin sidewinder is in your budget do a side by side with another power supply. the Musotoku will start a sidewinder at 2.5 volts, any other supply will be at 4.0 volts so the amps do matter. although again this is old news as well. You would be better suited to go wireless these days anyway. That is the future of our industry and not worry yourself watching two year old reviews. I slid over to your channel to try and learn from your industry contributions but as expected, you haven't contributed anything. I do not get paid for reviews, I enjoy tattoo machines and developing technology and spend days of my own free time creating it. What you consider snake oil is all based on actual experience and time using the products so by all means carry on putting down the hardworking and thanks for the laughs.

  • @Fieldgorr
    @Fieldgorr Před 5 lety +2

    critical are great awesome products man, I think muso toku MAY be better, but, seriously, if you use any other cheap powersupply like we use in brazil you'll know that critical does not fail in offering good power supply that don't fluctuate. (like chinese P.S. I used) .
    also the buttons way more reliable when it comes to safety/cross contamination. Some (most) of tattooers don't take their job seriously enough to properly isolate their gear, their power supply, their phone and so on... with this buttons (instead dials) it make more easy to do so

    Has anyone used one of these with a Rook Wave Switch? I see them paired up a lot but haven't used either, I'm curious about how that set up would compare to my Critical Cx-1. I've never had problems with it but maybe I just don't have a good point of reference for a better power supply.

    any rotary machines hardly draw 500ma (0.5amp) in running condition. very few old rotary require jump start otherwise everything is cool. critical usually gives 2amp not 1.5

  • @MikeG-js1jt
    @MikeG-js1jt Před 3 lety

    The power supply will only put out the amps that the motor asks of it, I dont think these tiny electric motors ever draw more than 1.5amps ........... so if you have a supply capable of delivering 10 amps and your electric motor only draws 1 amp those other 9 amps (which is just a potential) are just sitting dormant.
