    Hi TC, so glad to find you in CZcams. I am sure you may help me to solve my problem with your expertise in retrofitting head light. Mine is a Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT 2.0 come with projector HID lamp. Recently, I have bought the front headlight on line from China who claimed they are the OEM. But while trying to fit the new light back to the car, we found that there are 2 connection missing. Please advise how can I seek your help.

    The rubber ring should be inside the headlight, there should be a metal adapter (h4, etc) that goes outside (behind). Every other retrofit is done this way for a reason.

    • @TCsAnythingGoes
      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před 5 měsíci +1

      i did ask the distributor that sold me the parts and they mentioned its supposed to be on the outside to prevent water from going into the headlights.
      I was using this retrofit for a few months without any issues till my wife crashed my car and i took out the retrofit for almost a year. I just had them installed back the exact same way and still no leak.

    Two thing,
    1. that wight rubber seal is supposed to be bteween the reflecor and projector not behind the screw.
    2, is a question, is it better than the halogens you had before? And how much better, like significantly or just a little

    • @TCsAnythingGoes
      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The rubber seals needs to be behind the screw. If its between the reflector and projector, water can get into the case from the rear. Also, the manufacturer was the one giving the instruction.
      IT IS SIGNIFICANTLY better than the halogen. Not as bright as the LEDs + Reflector combo but the cutoff of the projectors are just.... SUPERB.

    • @TCsAnythingGoes
      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před rokem

      Yes, but without the shroud. If you want to install with a new shroud, you will need to cut off the reflector for the hi-beam. On the low beam side, there is even enough space for a 3 inch projector.

    • @Blackfang_12
      @Blackfang_12 Před 10 měsíci

      @@TCsAnythingGoes Hey, I just wanna say how great your tutorial is. Something worth mentioning about the low beam side, the stock reflector on Lancers/Inspiras does take well on 3 inch projectors, but since there's a horizontal cut off on top of the reflector, maximum size for the projector shroud will be 12.4cm vertically and 14cm horizontally. Sinolyn"s 3 inch projectors mostly comes with 12.8cm-13.5cm shroud, which will need abit of grinding.

    • @TCsAnythingGoes
      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před 11 měsíci

      Evo X projectors are HID projectors. I would suggest getting a good quality LED meant for your projectors instead of retrofitting.

      @2123sluseter Před 11 měsíci

      Thanks for your reply. My current headlight is running halogen only. Im thinking which one is better if I want to use HID. Not sure to get evo x projector or retrofit aftermarket projector into my headlight.

    • @TCsAnythingGoes
      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před 11 měsíci +2

      ahhhh, got it. Currently on stock lancer headlamps.
      If you can afford it, Evo X headlamps with LED bulbs.
      On a budget, retrofit projector into your current headlamps and use LEDs.
      Retrofitting, you have two options.
      Option 1 - do like what I did and get a projector with built in LEDs ( clear cut off and less hassle to install ). Downside - if the LED burns, you gotta take the entire headlamp apart to change it.
      Option 2 - Retrofit a quality projector into the headlamp that uses LED bulbs (non-built in LEDs). This is harder to do but the benefits in the long run is tremendous. You can choose what LEDs you want to put in (color temp and brightness) and if your LED ever burn, you can just change the bulb like how you do with your halogen.
      Hope this helps.

    • @2123sluseter
      @2123sluseter Před 11 měsíci

      Thanks for your input. Evo X lamps are running xenon right? It will be better to convert it to LED?
      In terms of brightness only, are stock Evo X projectors just as good as retrofitted Xenon/LED?
      I am leaning towards xenon at the moment because I can replace it easier and I've read that 4300K is good for xenon.

    • @TCsAnythingGoes
      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yes, Evo X lamps are running Xenons. Its definitely brighter than halogens. Evo X projectors are pretty good and definitely better than most retrofits. If you are going for 4300k, then Xenon is the way to go as LEDs normally come on 6000k. Brightness wise, LED (quality ones) beats Xenon by a fair bit.
      Here is my take:
      Xenon
      - has a few seconds start up time to warm up
      - runs pretty hot without a cooling system
      - takes in more Watts
      LEDs
      - no start up time
      - runs hotter but comes with a cooling system. Quality ones can be used for years. Cheap ones tend to burn every few months
      - less wattage for the same brighness
      - majority only comes with 6000k and above.
