Swiss Vintage Tram in Zurich - Zürcher Märlitram in Grün - Santa Special

Like many other European cities, Zürich also has a special holiday tram for the pre-Christmas season. It has operated since 1958 and features Santa at the controls.
Two angels in the cabin tell fairytales to kids aged 4 to 10. In 2020 the tram operated for the first time with a green livery, previously and dating back to the 1950s it had either run in white or red. The green vinyls have been applied on top of the red base paint, which is still used for decorative outlining. The tram is sponsored by Jelmoli, the oldest and most traditional department store in Zürich, which traces its roots well back into the 19th century.
The fairly short, four-wheeled streetcar Be 2/2 Nr. 1208 dates from 1913 and was locally built by SWS (Schlieren) and MFO (Oerlikon), the latter supplying the electric traction gear.

Seit 1958 betreiben die VBZ und das Warenhaus Jelmoli jeden Advent das nostalgische Märlitram durch die Stadtmitte von Züri mit dem lieblichen Nostalgiewagen Be 2/2 Nr .1208. Der Zweiachser wurde 1913 lokal gebaut von SWS (Schlieren) und MFO (Oerlikon) und ist das nominell älteste Fahrzeug in der aktiven VBZ-Flotte. 2020 präsentiert sich das sonst rote Märlitram erstmals in Grün.
