love the snatch quote. "Heavy is good, heavy is reliable, if it doesnt work, you can always hit 'em on the head with it"
He threw it in so casually too. Didn't mention it. Lol. I was thinking about the quote when he started saying it. So satisfying hearing him say the whole thing. Lol.
@@JakeLoeppky literally
I was trying to figure out what it was from. I recognized it but had trouble remembering the movie. I initially thought it was from Taxi Driver when the guy is selling him the guns. So thanks for the comment because it cleared it up and now it seems super obvious, haha.
Not one but TWO Neistat brothers uploading videos semi-regularily. Love it.
What I love about Van's workshop creations is that they are so personal, they are not the perfect solution made in CAD and mass produced, they are Van's solutions.
This so much!
and this is why THEY are the perfect solution.
When Van makes a video it’s like a ritual to me. I save it for the next opportunity I have to watch it alone. Door closed, no distractions. Anyone else the same?
Same here!
same and obversely, I'd save all of Casey's vlogs to watch with my kids. It was our nightly ritual.
YES! His videos are the rare ones i can watch quietly, in full screen and normal speed, without skipping or scrolling through comments or recommended videos.
Yes.
Same here
Van and Casey are such great storytellers. CZcams should promote more creators like them.
Check out deans channel too!
@@ACoustaDC dean who? Sounds interesting!
@@ACoustaDC dean has a channel?!

@@saviyou yeah and he's actually a pretty good editor. Not quite the storyteller that Casey and Van are but I like his channel and he's a very interesting guy. He's actually way cooler than van or Casey.
Seeing Casey and Van using the ZV-1 makes me love mine even more 🥰
Same here!
Same!!!
Yup, same. Feel proud now of the my little zv1.
Same here. Greetings from Perú.

as a 35 year journeyman trim carpenter it both drives me crazy and fascinates me to see these two Neistat brothers skills or lack thereof when making things 👍
Reminds me of being a child in my dads workshop making weird stuff.
Brilliant, a perfect example of how ingenuity is born out of necessity. Your willingness and the effort you put into documenting your thoughts and processes are highly appreciated! Best regards
I have made many plywood camera mounts. Plywood is amazing for DIY creations you can build with special features missing in store bought ones. They don't look as "polished" but function is more important than looks.
I love watching Neistats make stuff.
I think Van and Casey are the yin and Yang we need in the community of film makers. Keep it up Van
oh absolutely the purest creators of our generation!
Yeah, this video is basically "CUSTOMIZE EVERYTHING" by Casey, but made by a poet. czcams.com/video/H6lWMsMjTgI/video.html
Your videos are a zen-like experience that give a break from the chaos of the modern reality.
I love all of your videos but this one immediately gets a thumbs up just for the perfectly executed Snatch (2000) quote
"Tommy, is that a gun in your trousers? Where did you get it from? -Boris the blade. "You mean Boris the sneaky fucking Russian?!? A bit heavy init?" Insert Heavy is good, heavy is reliabile. If it does not work, you can always hit him with it." Van added "over the head", but he is forgiven. Not sure many of these young cats got the quote. Hey you, less than 30, go watch "SNATCH"".
Both Neistat’s are so creative. Joy to watch & learn.
The epoxy over the lead was a relief . Lead freaks me out as well. Good move man 👍🏻
I just got a Sony ZV-1 as well as an option for vlogging and as a B camera when needed, it’s very versatile and has a great image in a small package!
Sonyz 1 is awesome especially when you use it with catalyst browse to give awesome stabilization
Interesting… I hate the GoPro mount since it is not the same as a regular camera… but my GoPro does not flip flat like yours does. Must be a new feature? (I have a hero 5, so a bit older). But definitely cool to see how and more importantly WHY you build the mounts that you build. 👍
I like the way Van denies existence of go pro mounts and car mounts for regular cameras. Amazing movie as always!
So satisfying. The sound design adds so much. I've put my ZV-1 through hell it wasn't intended for (stays in my back cycling jersey pocket no matter the weather, in Florida) and it's been amazing. Can't wait for the stories you'll tell with it.
I love this guy. Such an artistic soul
Love that you quoted Boris "The Blade" Yurinov from Snatch… gold.
your storytelling and your DIY skills to make things work better are what i live for in life!
So therapeutic and high quality
every time I watch Van, its like I get zoomed into his video and his style of making films...its great
loved the "lock, stock, and two smoking barrels" reference at the end there:) I need to go back and watch that again, soon:)
Great video! I love seeing these simple solutions. Plus, I agree, that Canon TX-1 belongs in a museum.
Great systems to optimize visual flow!
A great little insightful story, as always Van. Thank you for making these.
I just want to voice a safety concern I'm personally having with hard and especially heavy objects when transported loosely in the car. Even worse in the height of the passengers heads.
In case of a collision these objects easily can become projectiles that can seriously hurt or kill people inside and even outside of the car.
Just food for thought, you do you of course ✌️
I love it! I always come away from your videos inspired to go out and create - thank you!
Your creativity and ingenuity amazes me
Beautifully imperfect. Your maker style seems to not let over-thinking paralyze producing a solution
What a pleasure and an honor to watch this stuff.
thank you spirited man!
I love the way your mind works.
@6:10 Casual Snatch reference. Such a good movie!
Love that Boris the Bullet Dodger reference. Snatch is one of my favorite movies
Nice work!! Love watching your vlogs!
This is such wholesome content in a world of folks pushing overly expensive cameras….this is a kind reminder that these are all tools, and what’s important is the story.
Love this channel, no talk of recessions, no BS, just being. Just light. Just art. ❤️
Love from India
6:07 - Great "Snatch" movie quote 🤜🔥🤛🤟
I just discovered your channel, Van. I’ve binged. I’m a long time seeker of inspiration and knowledge here, a soul who appreciates creative types doing it right. The it doesn’t matter. Your channel has immediately become one of my absolute all-time favorites. I admire the cut of your gib. Crack on!
Love the solve for the weight, but it might be worth double checking the package…CA banned the use/sale of lead fishing weights in 2019 as other states have too. Anymore, what you find at the tackle shops is actually tin. Low cost/low melt points. Looking at how shiny it ended up, might be worth an extra look (and peace of mind).
Love your pleasure in making things work better. Also, really enjoyed your Patreon Part 3 Respectibilty Tour. Watched it twice 😀
Beautiful as always
Thanks Van . Your videos always inspire the maker in us
I just found an old Bolex h16 in my parents attic that was my dads from years ago. This has inspired me to actually get that thing out and use it
Super interesting video! Thank you for making ❤
Incredible!
I have a Canon IXUS 220 HS, I don't leave the house without it. When I did, I missed a video. I like the 1080p 24fps video it shoots. The microphone in it is amazing. It's been used in snow, rain, heat (over 40°C) and cold (under -10°C). I bought a broken one, to have an extra battery. I bought another one for $5, for the battery.
Beautiful!
Excellent.
dude! this was awesome! I bought 2 zv1 in the last year. Great camera all around. Battery life is my only complaint, but the batteries are super cheap so I have a ton of them.
wonderful video, as always. keep making stuff! 👍
Great purchase Van. I really love my ZV-1. It just does exactly what I need when it comes to CZcams films. Love the ingenuity of these stands!
Thank you
amazing the things you can create..
Love it Van thank you
Appreciate that quote from "Snatch". Van out here killing it!!
always a pleasure van
Absolutely love the reference to Snatch
Van blows my mind every time. i with i had half of his creativity. amazing.
Love it.
Love the way you brothers think
Loved the quoting of Snatch dialogue!
Love the Tom Sachs inspiration seen in these little camera mount builds...
You’re such a delightful and entertaining weirdo and your videos are great.
This dude certainly sees the world through a different lens........and I say that as a compliment.
Always interesting.
love the Snatch reference! Awesome video as always
i like the filter that you have on your videos it gives them a kind of vhs vibe and makes them feel special
Great ep!
So inspiring... Keep it up Van
The only creator that I intentionally watch the entire ad(s) before the video so he will get paid. Just my little way of helping Van make his dreams happen!
Van, thanks for your videos. Love from Chile.
Man when it comes to ur videos & own music it just hits different ❤❤
Wow so ingenious. You are an original Van!!
I will now join the patreon once i get back to my laptop… you have won my heart by quoting my favourite movie ‘Snatch’
‘Heavy is good, heavy is reliable.
If it doesnt work, you can always hit him with it’
I quote that movie all the time.
Thank you sir, your films actually inspired me to maintain my spirit and to not loose it to being a gear in the machine. 🙏🏼
this was amazing to watch baked
Makes a 6:42 long video about wood, gopro mounts, epoxy, and lead and I'm here for all of it. Just shows how good ideas and storytelling are so often overlooked. I would watch content like this every spare moment if there was enough to consume, but we're not that lucky.
Bloody love this guy.
I have such an appreciation of your ingenuity and craftiness. We are of the same generation and watching you hold true to the need it make it vibe is so wonderful. Thanks for the videos
Happy to AF
Well done!
"Heavy is good, Heavy is reliable. If you it doesn't work you can always hit them with it". - Boris the Blade - Snatch
Such a great vlog. Like a mini movie. ❤
Loved the Snatch reference!!
How can such a simple video be so darn entertaining.
Super stoked on this because my Sony ZV1 arrives tomorrow and it's also my first ever camera. Been phone vloggin for over a year now. This was a big spend for me as we don't have that kinda cash laying around, but I feel a bit more confident in my selection since it now has the Van Neistat nod. From a guy one guy in his 40s to another, keep on keepin on and when you head down Mexico way we live in a little surf town called San Pancho in the state of Nayarit. Swing on by if you need a place to crash en route. Be well! Shaun in Paradise
Hello Van, I am a fan of Neistat brothers videos you are different but in a magical way you have the same magic to tell a story. But ( if I speak as a DJ) i prefer the music choices of your brother. Hello from Greece.
Thanks, I have been thinking about coming up with a mount for cameras for the car, which gives me direction.
came here from casey's channel, I'm so intrigued by your story telling and way of making a video. Calm, inspiring and, mostly, fun to look at.
Such genius!
Beautiful
Van your on another level I would love both of those cameras I just use a iPhone for my videos! Have a GoPro and a canon 80d but I get such good looking footage from iPhone 12 Pro Max! I use a late 2013 mbp for editing I’m happy for that for now
That was neat! 👍
Very cool
i just discovered you . you gosh darn genius . cant wait to watch more
I got the zv1 too Van. Love it 🤙
Great video.
Subbed for the Snatch quote at the end, instantly recognized it. Great video Van
