No Bullets Fly is probably the most emotional songe they have made, that is if you watch the animated story version. Its a great example of how humanity can overcome even the worst situations. It shows how love can be found even among enemies.

I think their most unique song is "ballad of bull". It's easy to write songs about great last stands and great charges and such but ballad of bull is about a simple Aussie stretcher bearer who never fired a shot. What he did was, at risk to his own safety, carry out twelve wounded men under heavy machine gun fire, to whom he had no connection, they were complete strangers. It's a song that doesn't get much coverage and really deserves far more.

There are so many great Sabaton songs. Sometimes sad, truely devastating, heartbreaking but also spiritlifting, crazy, powerful and beautiful stories. I strongly recommend for you to look ať "no bullets fly", or "the last battle" and read or hear about the just crazy real stories behind that Songs. Love your reactions. There is a lot to experience of Sabaton. "No bullets fly" animated story video as suggested earlier is great. Just make sure to watch it to the very end. "The Night witches" is another great animated story video. If you want a really good live performance I would suggest "En livstid i krig" live from Gothenburg from The Great Tour. Be sure to have caption on since they sing in Swedish. The message is as valid now as it was in the 30 year War. The live performances from Woodstock Poland 2012 is great especially "40:1" and "Uprising"; polish WW2 stories for mainly Polish crowed is amazing (there was more than half a million in that crowed). Also "Ghost Division" from the same concert is super. A special event for Sabaton was at Wacken 2019 where they celebrated 20th years as s band. They had current and all former band members performing on two sets (the two main sets at Wacken, side by side). The song " Swedish Pagans" from that concert is a must watch. If you want more videos chech out "Bismark" great video with stunning CGI (done by a game company as far as I know). The new video "Soldiers of Heaven" is really good an have a little bit special sound in my opinion.
    There is much more.
And also Sabaton has their own history youtube channel.

I agree really wish they had made this song little bit longer. Love how how Neidel (person acting Sir Adrian) embraces the satirical stuff he does like charging alone from the trenches to get shot in the eye, then yelling threats while standing with no cover shooting his submachine gun. The real Sir Adrian truly loved being in life or death situations...

This is such a peculiar song, it sounds upbeat and the acting is almost comical in a Monty Python style but there's always that lingering melancholy for the suffering this man went through. My favourite part is when the artillery shell covers him in dirt and he just loses his cool, it looks like he's going to fistfight the person that launched that shell! I have to recommend No Bullets Fly like many other have, the animated video is so moving, it makes me well up every time I watch it. Other favourites of mine are Bismark, the first Sabaton song I ever heard, Primo Victoria and Dreadnought. This band is a rollercoaster of emotion to listen to. It's common for people to claim that Sabaton can make you feel patriotic toward a country that's not even your home and in a way I'd agree with them.

13:00 to call him a "well decorated" war veteran is a bit of an understatement if you ask me. His list of awards is quite substantial - not the least of which being nothing else than the Victoria Cross - which only 1358 people were ever awarded since its creation in 1856 (for comparison: The Medal of Honor was awarded 3530 times since its inception in 1861 - which is almost three times the number of V.C. recipients).
As a matter of fact he was that big a deal back then that the foreword to his memories was written by none other than Winston S. Churchill himself!

This video was very tongue-in-cheek, and sorta mocks FPS games, treating the subject like a respawning player. Indy Neidell plays the main, he is part of three amazing history channels on CZcams. TimeGhost, The Great War, and World War 2.
Here's a good Startng list of Sabaton:
En Livstig I Krig - live at Gothenburg, watch with subs
(There is an English language version "A Lifetime at War", which is also great, but the context is different, En Livstig I Krieg is more personal while A Lifetime at War is more generalized about the horror and injustice of war itself. Both cover the 30 Years War from ~1618 to 1648, between mostly Catholic and Protestant forces.)
No Bullets Fly - Animated Version, I don't want to spoil this one.
To Hell And Back - Official, focus on PTSD, Audie Murphey is the topic and some of the lyrics are taken from his poem "Crosses Grow on Anzio."
Bismarck - Official, deals with the German battleship. This is just Sabaton at their most epic.
The Royal Guard - about the Swedish Royal Guard, which has existed for over 500 years. It's more ballad that metal.
This is good mix, and a good taste of some of their styles.

So for christmas truce, they did a slow, somber and triumphant song with a little christmas feel added. In this one, they did a fast and fun song, together with a fun video for a madman that thought that war was fun. Another great example is "Ghost division", which is about a panzer division that moved so fast that nobody knew where they were, so the music reflects that too, they play at breakneck speed on that one. Or one of my favourites, "The price of a mile" that just hits you with gutpunch after gutpunch of despair in both the story and the sound..

One of my favorite Sabaton songs is Sarajevo it is different sounding than Christmas Truce and the Unkillable Soldier. This song is about what started World War 1. It is more of a naration and parts are singing in the song. I also like Race to the Sea by them as well. I just discovered Sabaton at the beginning of this year and I am really enjoying their music. In September I am going to see them in concert which will be really cool.

Sabaton is one of those bands that you can't help but get emotionally involved from the first note to the last. You are sucked right in to that moment. You're a soldier of the 24th Regiment of Foot at Roarke's Drift. You're a Winged Hussar charging towards the besieged city of Vienna. You're a Russian soldier in WWI, coughing up blood as you were gassed, still willing to fight off 14 battalions of Germans in a battle called The Attack of The Dead Men. Afterwards, you realized that those were hard men. True Warriors to survive all that.

Heartbreaking Sabaton songs: No bullets fly (animated video), Final solution, price of a mile, en livstid I krig (live from gothenburg, use subtitles), uprising
Bad ass songs: Night Witches (animated video), To hell and back, 82nd all the way Lady of the dark, 40:1
More suggestions: Bismarck, winged Hussars, solider of heaven, Primo Victoria, attack of the dead men, Carolus Rex (both Swedish and English versions work)

You would love the animated story of the, night witches, its an amazing story of woman who broke the glass celling. They became the first stealth bombers back in ww2 using outdated ww1 planes made of cloth and wood. Only a few that made it back after the war, were given the Hero of the Soviet Union issued by Joseph Stalin himself. We should all ways remember the fallen and there sacrifice!

There was a spanish soldier that was also pretty much unkillable, but as he was asociated with the spanish fascist, in fact he was I think a general during the civil war people dontreally like to talk about him, he also created the spanish Legion, inspired on the french legion, their motto in that moment was ."long live death"

Only a matter of time before she discovers Sabatons gothic brother Powerwolf and their looney pirate cousin Alestorm.
If you want THE Sabaton sound you gotta do Primo Victoria, Winged Hussars and The Last Stand.
The big ones to touch on, besides the ones mentioned above, are No Bullets Fly (animated story video), Night Witches (animated story again), Bismarck (official music video), The Great War (official music video) and En Livstid I Krig (live from the great tour, dont forget to turn on captions as i doubt you speak Swedish) Carolus Rex (live from the great tour) and everyone's favourite, Ghost Division (live at Woodstock)
That being said, welcome to the club, enjoy the rabbithole, hope you delve into the Sabaton History channel at one point

I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on sabaton. Therefore , I wish you would watch a live performance next time. I've been a fan of Sabaton since 2007 since the first time I saw them live and I think many others also found them this way. I recommend their most used consert opener, Ghost division. Search for Sabaton Ghost division (official live video) or chose just a great performance from the same consert, Sabaton uprising (official live video).

There is something called Math Metal! I think it is a subgenre that's evolved a lot since then - Check out Sequoia Throne by Protest the Hero. Its all about different time signatures. Hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the subgenre Djent is where it's at now. Periphery or Born of Osiris are my go-to for that stuff now
