Sir Adrian Carton de Wiart is the theme of this song
    Wikipedia:
He served in the Boer War, First World War, and Second World War. He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunnelled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them. Describing his experiences in the First World War, he wrote, "Frankly I had enjoyed the war."

      1. The foreward to his memoirs where he wrote the "Frankly, I had enjoyed the war" line was also written by his close and personal friend, Winston Churchill. Yes, that Winston Churchill.
      2. Regarding the tunneling out of a prisoner-of-war camp story, well, I'll let Wikipedia sum it up:
"He made five attempts, including seven months tunnelling. Once, Carton de Wiart evaded capture for eight days disguised as an Italian peasant (he was in northern Italy, could not speak Italian, and was 61 years old, with an eye patch, one empty sleeve and multiple injuries and scars)."

Also, he was stationed in Poland when Germany invaded at the start of World War II. We know this, and we also know the Germans knew this.
We also know that as soon as the Germans DID know this, they *bombed his fucking house* because they were that hellbent on never having to have to deal with this man a SECOND time. The man was such an absolute legend that an entire fucking country heard he was in the area and basically responded by screaming "Oh HELL no, not again!"

Indy Neidell, Sabatons history channel guy, played Adrian Carton de Wiart in this music video and did pretty damn well! Also, the music video is very, very innacurate in many obvious ways, but Sabaton clearly knew that and did it on purpose. This guy was in so many wars and battles with so many crazy stories revolving around him, it makes everything so unbelievably hard to believe and get a clear picture of it all, so why not to make a action packed, almost "hollywood" like video. This guy was as close to a video game character as you could get, it is so stupid in a good way.
Over the course of four conflicts, he sustained 11 grievous injuries, which included being shot in the face, head, hand, stomach, leg, groin, and ankle.
As if that wasn’t enough, he survived numerous plane crashes, made multiple escape attempts from an Italian P.O.W. camp, broke his back and tore off his own fingers because doctor refused to amputate it.
Killed over and over and over again, yet he just ignored it. True soldier.

He pulled off one of his fingers after doctors refused to amputate it, he was shot through the skull and ankle during the battle of the Somme, through the hip at the battle of Passchendaele, through the leg at Cambrai and through the ear at Arras. And probably a lot more. The guy was a living bullet sponge

Not much time to watch on this end... family member in hospice.
Glad to see you are back.
I'll listen to the reaction later. Just wanted to stop in and wave.

The thing is that this only dealt with the WW I part of his life, his life was actually more remarkable than that, having escaped from prisoner of war camp, survived multiple plane crashes, becoming a General, oh and he may have been the illegitimate son of the King of Belgium.

Definitely watch the history video on this one. Little advice: don’t eat before that… just to be sure.

Its contested whether or not he's the bastard son of the king of Belgium, but I personally believe he's the son of the god of war

I don't know if there is a book or film of him, but there is Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_Carton_de_Wiart - a good read.

Once in a while you come across a reactor who actually deliver something extra in commentary.
After watching several reactions before deciding if the channel is worth a sub or not I came to this conclusion.
The way you dissect the parts of songs etc. I want to say "music theory" but that seems wrong. Its the way you describe how melody and instruments connect to story and emotions that intrigues me. How you can give a new perspective on songs I heard 100+ times in a way I can use to improve my own songwriting/composing. +1 sub.
    Thank you.
