i dont really listen to english covers of japanese songs... except if theyre made by will stetson. the reason why some english covers are not that good is because the lyrics feel like they're forced and unnatural. will stetson is just so good because he makes and english cover and the lyrics are just so good and fits the song amazingly well.
It's because the way he makes lyrics isnt just by directly translating, I think there was a word for what he does but afaik he essentially rewrites the lyrics to be more.. correct sounding? ig when doing japanese to english translations.
@@thejustlexa Not just that, he also does his best to recreate the story that the original song was trying to convey, meaning the feelings put into the song by the original writer is also 100% translated to the english version
@@AntarctylliteCovers1727 Yeah, i just didnt want to write a whole essay in your replies lol.
@@thejustlexa david toth or breadbox translates most of his lyrics. Props to him hes a master at it
I thought it was a Chinese song-
Amazing reaction!
As for Hutao, she is the character who once wasn't able to accept death, she was grieving her grandfather so much she crossed the board no one had crossed before -- the board between life and death, to search for her drandpa. And she discovered he safely gone to the next life, he didn't have any regrets other miserable ghosts stuck on the border had. When she returned, she became a different person. She now runs a funeral parlor, and she always jokes about death in hope that it'll help to erase fear from people;s hearts.
It feels like the song describes four kinds of death in its verses.
First, those who die at the peak of their life, doing what they love and accepting what will come.
Second, those who struggle to keep going for as long as possible, surviving for a longer time but *living* a great deal less.
Third, those who die young, who are outright *unable* to reach the peak of their life because their bodies were broken from the start.
And fourth, those like the old man in the reviewer's story, who have accepted death but are trapped in life by others, represented by the imagery of the woman chaining a butterfly to the earth.
In South-East Asia and East Asia it's a common belief that your loved ones might visit you in form of a butterfly. So i guess in the music video the chained butterfly is similar to the western style chained ghost symbolism.
God, I hope more people listen to this song, because it really has something philosophically for everyone, especially those who have just finished the grieving process. Hu Tao is a young lady who runs a funeral parlor, however, unlike her metaphorical job of laying those who have passed to rest, she literally interacts with the living and the border, passing people onto the land of the dead. Despite this, she isn't immortal and is completely aware of her mortality. Hu Tao is confused by those who would sacrifice the time they have living just to be alive longer, just staving off death without actually using the time they have left effectively. She gets it, but it doesn't make sense to her logically. Living people who don't have any of the answers, see death as obviously bad, while Hu Tao who has all the answers, is still confused about that fact.
I never really thought the lyrics was that deep. but when i realized, this made me think "what i want to do in life" and made me confident to change my current life.
Hu Tao is an amazing character and this song probably sums up her thoughts perfectly. I recommend reading up on her lore if you haven't played the game or done that already.
you should react to more of will! he does english covers of japanese songs and their very good!
You comparing static p to will makes so much sense. If I didn’t click on this video I probably would of never thought about that
I absolutely enjoyed your thoughts on Wil's music video! The story of the old man was honestly, a bit unsettling, I can imagine how it made you feel miserable.
Crazy how a fire music video like this got me thinkin bout philosophical things tho 😭
Quickly became one of my favorite songs because of how it sounds AND because of the amazing message. I remember having this big creepy grin on myself while really listening to the lyrics and understanding them, it was surpirisingly deep and i loved it
It'd be great for you to react to more of Will's content. He has AMAZING vocals, but usually posts covers of songs. This was actually his first original song, and I LOVE IT! :D
So will recently came out with an amazing single called Morality lesson I think it would make a great video
So… Possible Genshin tangent could be The Diagnosis, or some the fan songs the CN VAs pitch into, ie If You Suddenly Think of Me, Let the Wind Tell You, and I’ve Never Forgotten.
Will makes amazing covers and songs. As a fan, thanks for reviewing it.
You have more personality then so many people on this platform, your content is awesome!
man i just found you and i love you, most music reactors i've noticed add very little input to the actual song from the first 3 minutes of the video I could tell your not like that; you seem like a really chill down to earth person.
I honestly really love your talks and reaction to the video! Good video
damn u know static p
Oh yeah, we’re like best friends you know 😤 nah nah fr I happened to find him awhile ago and we keep in touch, cool guy! 😄

Is death really that bad, for everything must come to an end no matter how long it's prolonged. You should live life how you want to, while you wait for death's embrace at the end.
pls check out his version of night dancer
he jusst released a new original song call koala, you should try it ( it have 2 versions but I like the eng version more, hope you enjojoy it !:>) sorry for the very bad grammar

Tell me you didn't play Genshin without telling me....
OMG I LOVE the comparison of Will Stetson to static P! I do that in my head every now and then. Static P is a friend of mine and I adore both him and Will Stetsons voice so much. Would adore hearing them collab, lol
