  • Welcome! In this video I replace my high mount brake light, also known as the third brake light on my 1997 Ford Econoline E-150 named Enigma. While the light itself was working fine, the lens was old and heat stressed. the foam weather seal was also completely worn out. New replacement parts are available but if you have a conversion van like me some modifications are required in order to make everything fit.

Do you have the specific size of the screws needed to reattach the assembly to the van? Thanks!

Unfortunately no I don't have that offhand. From a quick bit of reading most likely those screws are metric. Your best bet would be to swing by your local hardware store and grab a few different sizes of metric (and a few SAE) screws and see which one threads correctly.

From what I can see in my wiring diagram, there should be Light Green wires that are the positive, and a black wire that is the ground.

@@MazdaB3K thanks you where right i didnt see this in time. Random question, any idea what colour the fuel pump relay wire is ? The black/pink stripe maybe? Trying to fabricate a kill switch

Looking at my diagram for a '97 Econoline, assuming that you have the 5.4, I see four wires comes out of the fuel pump relay. I see a Yellow, Dark Green with Yellow stripe, Red and Light Blue with Orange stripe. Based on what I see I would insert a kill switch inline with the Red wire. The red wire is 12 volts from the start or run position of the ignition switch. If you interrupt that, the relay won't energize so no fuel flows.
