What a superb upgrade to your cooling, that's a very nice aio as well. Good to see a quality instruction manual, makes such a difference.
Appreciate the support Stephen! LOVE how it turned out and you’re correct, the manual was very thorough and even showed proper AIO mounting positions. Gotta love it
Very nice addition to your pc setup, its looking great now and running nice temps as well by the look of it. I tend to favour air coolers but these new aio coolers are getting to be really affordable and give good performance. Excellent video showing an easy to follow installation as always.
Thank you! The simplicity of air coolers just can’t be beat.
Nicely done again. Your new camera set up is 🔥 and has made a huge upgrade to your vids
Thanks Jason! One of the best purchases I’ve made so far was my camera and mix setup. Appreciate your feedback as always 🤝
Awesome vid Dan!! looks awesome in your build.
Thank you!!! Appreciate it. LOVE how it looks now 👌🏻
I’ve been waiting for thisssss!
Brotha Veeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Great video as always! Keep it up, boo.
❤
Crazy how good non rgb builds can look. Planning on buying the same AIO for my build. From what I can see it's one of the better preformers in this price range.
It has been a great AIO and I LOVE how it looks. Non RGB builds can be amazing. ESPECIALLY if you have some subtle case lighting that is hidden and brings it a little more to life.
Ahhh I love it bcc it’s less cable clutter, I just bought one for my itx build 😁
Finished my build about a month ago and I got to say that I’m very pleased with it. Keeps my 12600k nice and cool. Got a short vid if you wanna see how the Non RGB build turned out :)
@@Mau_S I’m gonna be putting mine on a 10900k in a nr200, hope it keeps it cool enough 😬. Not sure if I should’ve went for a 280, but I have 2 120mm noctua fans I wanted to put on it.
I got my pc built yesterday, temps at highest are 80c using cinebench, it games nice :D
Thanks for making this video! So much has changed since you first got your HP Omen, I remember the temperatures you were getting with the stock configuration, especially when you were doing video rendering! I have been a PC user since 1991 (Atari computers prior to that) and remain very old school yet when it comes to PC cooling and have stuck to air cooling to this day despite the fact that the temperatures are not as good as liquid cooling and that my computer is not as quiet as I would like it to be. But liquid cooling and the possibility of leaks and the potential maintenance involved keeps me up at night LOL. However, even though my CPU is a Ryzen 7 3700X, I know that AMD is recommending liquid cooling for their 5000 series processors and I can't see that changing going forward with CPU's getting more and more powerful with time. I may be forced to embrace change in the future but this video gives me some insight. Much appreciated.
Thanks Mark! Yeah, the Omen in it's stock days were nerve racking to say the least. Omen is still doing super well, just doesn't get used that much. Most AIO's now are sealed and maintenance free, but there is always a possibility of a leak. Air coolers are just so simple though and have no failure points, they just work! Appreciate your support Mark.
My first computer was an Atari 400 and then the Atari 800 with a fabulous 8k of memory. Than a Ti99 and Commodore 64.
@@eddiedabowler That is awesome, I loved those computers. I also had my hands on an Atari 400 for a time, wish I'd kept it!
Alright, Dan goes AIO cpu water cooler! You didn't have to take the motherboard out or anything, looked pretty straightforward, I could maybe do this. Thanks for this Dan.
Thanks! With the design of this AIO, I was able to use the stock AMD backing plate provided with the motherboard, super easy! Overall, installation was not difficult at all and may be even easier with a different case. 👍🏻
I am also thinking about gettting this but in 360mm rgb once it go on sale too. Thanks for the review and it was helpful. Waiting for Omen 45l to come next month.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
FYI, the swivels that connect the tubs to the block move and there is no issue moving them around. I've done it frequently. They are stiff to move, but that's okay. It keeps them in place once you move them. There is no issue with them coming out of the block. They are meant to swivel. The way they are designed there is more adjustment upward then there is downward when the pump is mounted with the logo upright as you have it. The issue is that the front swivel reduces the adjustment of the back swivel. I think, generally, EK means for them to be mounted in the top of the case. But, I've mounted them in several orientations without issue. Most of the AIOs I've seen have 400mm tubes, seems to be sort of a standard.
Correct. I end up getting them positioned how I want, later in the video. Because of the AM4 mounting, I could only mount the tube outlets on the left or right side, instead of the bottom. One I got the angle a little better, they came out looking super clean though.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks Henry! I appreciate you saying that. 👍🏻👌🏻🤝
You knooowww im back to watch another video whooo!
Also Sorry for not being able to make it to your streams I've been busy moving to a new apartment!
Appreciate your support!! No problem! Moving is always a pain. 😫
The ek aios looks insane
Great video, thank you
Appreciate it! 🤝
Love it RGB free build 🤤😍
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cheers for the vid! We’ve actually pretty much got the same build! Same case, same cpu, and soon same AIO! I want to change the waterforce for one of these (having issues with aorus engine) and sick of too much RGB. Also to have all my fans + AIO working at BIOS level without software is the best way imo.
Thanks! I totally agree that all that additional software some of these products use is so annoying. That is a good point that I did not include in the video ( I don't think ). Thanks for your comment Josh, sounds like you got a nice machine.
Totally right there with you Josh! I'm a big fan of minimalistic builds. I actually like the black EK aio better than the RGB version. My Lian Li 011 Mini air is all black with very dim white RGB strips. Some of these builds have way too much (RGB).
dang, i was wondering if it would cool a 5600x and i believe you answered that pretty well, thank you for the temps!!!!
No problem! It works very well with my 5600x 👍🏻
Awesome!
Thanks Mark! 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing Dan, but my Omen case wont let me install it. I can go single fan aio on the rear of the case, 120mm.
Yup! 👍🏻
i ended up getting this cooler during black friday, and it was only until last friday i actually managed to put the whole AIO together, because i was doing a few "small" upgrades on my rig. overall the cooler isn't bad, but it kinda disappoints me how if you care about aesthetics, you need to have the tubes mounted on the right instead of the left (personal preference) to see that EK logo.
it's kind of like the Corsair H100i V2, where you're either mounting the logo upside down, or you're going to have the tubes on the right side, and you're going to like it
Yeah, orientation is only one way but I love how simple the cooler is.
Hey damn, thanks.
Do you compress your videos?
Thank you!! No I do no, why do you ask? Is there something wrong with the video?
Nice dude
Thanks dude!!!
Hey dude I am looking to buy this cooler and have a quick question - do the 2 fans connections get routed to the single 4 pin attached to the pump/coolerblock? Cheers!
No, they all have their own separate connection. The pump has a 4 pin connection and each fan has a 4 pin so you can regulate speeds of all of them.
Looks great! I’ve been looking at the corsair RGB AIO but I really need to change the motherboard first… So many things left to upgrade..
So many upgrades to be done! The itch to upgrade never stops 😫
@@DanKamYouKnow speaking of upgrading… I may need a new mobo sooner than thought… you have any ideas on how to make a large GPU fit with the Omen motherboard power cables? Got everything working and switched into my new case but my 3060 Ti doesn’t fit 🥲. I guess I could mount it vertical but I’d like to avoid that.
@@spicyburrito1780 What case did you choose? You are probably better off going with a modular PSU.
@@DanKamYouKnow Corsair 4000D Airflow. I did choose a modular PSU, but the issue is where you plug the motherboard power cable into the motherboard. The GPU is too thick and is blocked by the power cable when plugged in to the mobo. It’s pretty poor design choice by HP like most things they do haha! Slowly moving away from them!
Ohhhhh, I was wondering what you meant by it not fitting. Yeah, the 24 pin location for the motherboard is in the weirdest spot, compared to other motherboard manufacturers!
Would it be ok to mount the water block basically upside down with a left side exit for the tubing? (top mounted radiator still)
Yeah, that will work fine. 👌🏻
nice build. pretty bummed i got the 280rgb version and not the basic240 one instead..the all black does looks so much better.
also if you want even better performance you should get the nf-a12x25 noctuas on the aio .
Thanks!! I was personally more of a fan of the Basic version too, looks a lot cleaner IMO. Plus mine is a no RGB system besides some case lighting.
I’m so glad they released the Chromax versions for the a12x25’s! Last I lookedC the availability for them was pretty low but seems like stock is a little better. Think I might order 6 of them at some point: 3 front intakes / 2 top radiator exhausts and 1 rear exhaust.
In your opinion Wich cooler keep the system better, the noctua you used to has installed or this Aio?
AIO is slightly more efficient.
Dan, i purchased this cooler for my hp omen motherboard but the back bracket attached to the omen wont come off and the screws dont go down fully, im guessing its not compatible with hp omen mobo?
Omens do not work with 240mm AIO’s. The radiator won’t fit. You need a 120mm AIO. You need to remove the stock HP Omen backing plate to make way for the coolers new back plate. This EK AIO will not fit though….
@@DanKamYouKnow I do own a corsair 4000d but have no idea how I'm going to remove the back plate of the motherboard
I used plastic pry tools to remove mine.
Dan, Is it cooler than your U12S?
What’s up Jeremy! About a 2-5c difference depending on the fan curve!
Would this be a nice upgrade for my PC build? I got a Gigabyte Geforce RTX 3080 Vision OC with a intel i7-9700k. Don't really know too much about pc builds so I need help when it comes to this type of stuff. I also don't know if I should upgrade my cpu while I'm at it.
9700K is still a good CPU. Upgrading to this will depend on what current cooler is on your 9700K.
@@DanKamYouKnow I have the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
This 240mm AIO won’t be a huge difference from that cooler tbh. Very comparable in cooling capabilities
This 240mm AIO won’t be a huge difference from that cooler tbh. Very comparable in cooling capabilities
@@DanKamYouKnow alright thanks for the help!
To be honest this is super good price for an aio of this size, all the ones I found cost twice as much just because they got rgb
Right?! Super great value and I LOVE how it looks. Great performance as well.
i desperately wish someone would measure pump noise on these and compare it to the asetek pumps. since ill be defo using noctua fans, pump noise and performance are the only things that are significant factors in an aio for me
I don’t have any way of measuring pump noise but with the side panel on, I can’t hear the pump at all, even at 2000 +/- RPM. It’s the most minor “swooshing” sound but I’m not sensitive to PC noise level like other people.
do you think this aio would work after a case swap?
I would see what kind of cooling configurations your new case could use. You could probably go with a 240mm, 280mm or a 360mm AIO depending on the case you want. But yes, this 120mm AIO will work in just about any case.
Nice, an aio for grown ups!👌
Thanks! No doubt. So clean and minimal looking.
@@DanKamYouKnow 100% im getting this :D
It’s a good choice, at a great price. Very good performance as well.
I can't decide between the noctua cpu cooler or an aio. For me the aio looks better but price wise there's a big difference
What case do you have?
@@DanKamYouKnow ordered corsair 4000d
Air coolers are a much more simple design and work well. I large AIO will cool slightly better but can be a little more noisy with the pump. With the 4000d, you have a ton of options for AIO’s or large air coolers. Depends on which one you like more, both will work well
@@DanKamYouKnow thanks Dan, decided to go with ek aio 240mm with 2 noctua 120mm fans
Works great! Keeps my 5600x super cool
Hey brother I have the omen 30l and I noticed we recently got a bios update allowing memory overclocking and xmp files!!! Could you check it out and see if you can give us a tutorial??
I was able to enable xmp to get my non hp ram up to speed and I'd like to know if I can tighten the timings with the new settings
@@azuresky181 So, not all machines have this BIOS update yet. My Omen is older ( purchased in April of 2020 ) and I haven't gotten the update yet. As soon as I get it and know that everyone has this option, I will definitely do a video.
@@DanKamYouKnow thanks my man! I'm lookin forward to it!
👍🏻 I keep checking but my system doesn’t have it yet. Not sure why it’s taking so long but HP did say that releases for this option would vary. It seems like newer built Omens have the BIOS update with this option.
What’s the best 240 aio these days?
Depends on how much you want to spend. Some of them have screens now that can display PC vitals and GIF’s, and some are more basic like this one reviewed. As long as your running good static pressure fans in the radiator, they should all perform very similarly
Arctic Cooling AIOs are on par and as cheap.
True, the liquid freezer is the same price as this EK. Not a fan of the water-block or tubing design though.
Is the hp omen ryzen 5 5600G rtx3060 good ?
Yes, that's a good combo
What air cooler is that?
Noctua U12S. Great little 120mm equipped air cooler
Having a colored owner's manual says a lot. The Arctic 280mm Freezer II I had in my last build had website address. WTF? I had to use my cell phone to install the cooler.
Yeah, that annoying. The manual was very helpful to have next to me.
Will this go alright with a rtx 3070?
What do you mean? The AIO doesn’t really have anything to do with the graphics card.
@@DanKamYouKnow oh I thought it did, as the more powerful the card, the more likely it’s to heat up. Unless I’ve got it entirely wrong, I’m not an expert on this sort of thing lol
Sometimes GPU’s can give off some heat and possibly heat up the CPU slightly ( usually just air cooled CPU’s ), but it would be very minimal. With AIO’s like that, definitely not.
Always a good idea to have a high flow air case with good fans to prevent GPU heat from rising and heating up the CPU
@@DanKamYouKnow ah ok, thanks for that. Sorry if I sounded dumb at first hahaha
You didn’t sound dumb at all! Just wanted to make sure I understood the question. We all start our PC journey some time and have to learn the ins and outs. The important thing is you are doing your research and asking questions! In time, you’ll be a PC building master. 👍🏻
This cooler is good, but the Arctic liquid freezer ii beats it in both price and performance.
Cool. It looks like it’s the same price as of right now, $90. Arctic makes great stuff, I think I just prefer the look of the EK AIO 👍🏻
@@DanKamYouKnow I agree tbh. Althought somehow the price is better for me (although only marginally) and the performance is better, I really dislike the look of the pump. That being said I've still heard some people like it. Totally with you on this one, in terms of looks
Definitely heard a lot of great things about the Arctic coolers, and I like their fans a lot.
Such a good looking block. Tired of the RGB trend
Agreed. The gun metal gray looks fantastic
If your venting air out from the top of the case why are you using the air filter on top. Should remove it for better air flow since your exhausting heat out.
I actually ended up removing all 3 filters for this case but temps weren’t that bad with them in.
WATERRRRRRRRR
the one thing cali lacks
🥵🥵🥵
can i have your 2 ek fans?
Yoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
👀👀👀👀👀 Do I know you?!? 👀👀👀👀👀
🗿🗿🗿
💥
No RGB yay!
Nope! Just a super clean look 👍🏻
Gay processor
Where's the software? Why doesn't anyone who reviews this bother to show the software needed to control the RGB (for RBG versions), pump speed or fan?
Are we really supposed to just use the bullshit 'Fan 5' or similar basic BIOS software?
EK Connect doesn't work, I guess you actually need to give them $60 for this hardware, but the software for that is horrible if you look for reviews. It's broken.
Why would I review the software when the EK Basic doesn’t utilize RGB, and I didn’t cover the RGB version for this video?! Why would you ever use bloatware like those programs when your BIOS fan adjustments work just fine and consistently?
