- Logic Pro for iPad 2.0: Everything We Know So Far
Apple just held their ‘Let Loose’ event where they unveiled new iPads, new accessories and announced a brand new update for Logic Pro for iPad.
This isn't just an update though, this is a whole new version; Logic Pro for iPad 2.

Logic updates was the show stealer for me! So cool
Same! Was really great to see it get its own segment in the event.
My favorite part of the keynote as well 😂
Honestly, the Session players are of greatest interest to me. The Mastering function they added last time was absolutely fantastic.
They need to stop the subscription based method for ipad.... I'm waiting for that also 🎼😎🎶
Don’t forget we also got Logic Pro for Mac 11!
True! And both versions are getting all features simultaneously too!
Thats pretty scary that we have to say that. Makes me worry Logic Pro for Mac will become secondary.
…. and still no use of Silicon efficiency cores?
I'm getting this for iMac. I like that it's not a monthly fee on iMac and McBook too like it is on iPad
Very nice summary with all sorts of useful extras. Thanks Patrick.
I can’t wait for Monday! Great updates for Logic Pro for iPad.
Counting the seconds!
@@TheLogicProGuide Indeed!
I'm so looking forward to this!
Thanks so much. This is the perfect video to summarise all the information we were shown during the event and the extra info (including limitations) that later appeared on their web site. Nicely done. 👏
I appreciate that, thanks for watching!
Great overview, mate !
Cheers Marc, exciting stuff!
As an MPC One user my iPad with Logic Pro has been as useful and probably the best arranging experience I’ve ever had outside of Bitwig/Ableton.
Great video! I'm looking forward to checking out the Session Players.
Appreciate you watching!
You made me LOL when you said that Chromaglo is a "Saturation plugin then"! Comedy gold 😂
Great info! Leave it to the Logic Pro Guide to spot the stuff that Apple stealthily slipped in that's right there the videos. Thanks for keeping it low key, but always interesting!
Cheers Ed, appreciate you watching as always!
The chord track is something I’m looking forward to. I do this now with markers, but this new approach gives control over the session players, if they follow along. Unsure how drummer can also get more in depth control. I always hoped that I could define a basic kick/snare pattern and let Logic fill it up with the rest of the kit. That would be awesome. The follow track is not that great for my purposes. I’m reluctant to try the iPad version, as I have an iPad mini 5, but on desktop I’m good with my MacBook Pro.
Hope they add MCU/HUI MIDI control for surface controllers eventually.
Appreciate your coverage of this! I use Logic daily on an M1 Mac so any new changes are always big news for me.
I didn’t make it clear in the video, but all of these features are coming to Logic Pro for Mac in the 13th too.
@@TheLogicProGuide Ah okay! Was hoping iPad wouldn't get all the fun toys 😅 Thank you!!
Super hyped for this update! Cannot wait to try these new AI features! 😁😁😁
All we need now is atoms mixing and audio to midi like you can do on the Mac. But I saw they added some Mac exclusive stuff 🥺
I said this to Pete but it’s pretty cool they are bringing some stuff from an old app called music memos.. which had ai bass back in like 2017.. cool to see it come back.
YES I thought the same thing! The session Bass and Keyboard really seem like Music Memos on steroids.
Great brief on the overly long Apple event. Plus I didn’t have to watch Sir Knees bends a lot for the info. Cheers Patrick
😂 Poor Tim.
always felt Koalas stem splitter was surprisingly good
Nice one Patrick. They’ve really pushed the boat out with version 2.
It sure sounds like it’s going to be a big game changer - Like you said “if it works”.
Only thing that’s still putting me off is that it’s still subscription only. Maybe that will change - one day
Thanks for the recap. I’m bit confused. Do you think the Bass Player and Keyboard Player can be added to an existing project and AI will detect the key and bpm of your project? Or are these Players more useful for starting a project from scratch? 😅
Brother plz make the video’s for how to turn voice to instrument
If we're getting Pedal and Key noise for keyboards, can we get Bass Drum Pedal squeak for drummers, as per Since I've Been Loving You by Led Zeppelin (and many others)?
RipX works well to split music into stems.
Also fadr is pretty awesome
Stem splitting would be great if it works!
I am very excited about this new version of Logic Pro on iPad but unfortunately I won't be able to use the Stem Splitter feature because I have the 9th generation ipad.
It’s unfortunate that Apple have chosen to leave some of these features out for some.
The decision to restrict this wonders me, since there are many apps out there like the Koala sampler, which supporting stem splitting and it doesn't take too long and unless it isn't implemented as real time feature, acceptable waiting times should be choice of the user.
So the only feature I was excited about I can’t even use because I don’t have an M chip IPad Pro. Not about to spend another grand just to get it. So now I don’t care at all about this update. But Thank You for the heads up.
UGH, still nothing about an updated browser =(
Thanks for the update!
Improv the logic overall (when the song have more EQ the logic will give you a notification saying overall) and inprove the new mastering plugging and the piano 🎹 roll to pick note like FL Studio
I Hope that it is midi mapaple now
If it wasnt a subscription i would buy it
Hi, if I added a backing track could I enhance it, for instance the base line … thnk you
Yeah it looks like that’s the case. We’ll know more when it releases in the 13th.
Hmmm...Logic Pro 2 for iPad with 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM? Recommend 1 TB with 16 GB or am I okay with 512 gb with 8 GB to use Logic on new iPad Pro M4?...🧐
So still no Sampler for us sample instrument creators? I would have thought they would have prioritized that
Since I already have logic for iPad is the new version going to replace it, or I have to pay for that too?
It’s coming as an update to the existing app, no need to pay again.
I wish there was a way to allow pc programs like superior drummer and adddictive drums. It's literally the missing puzzle piece for me
Unfortunately Apple seem to be leaving it up to developers to port their products over themselves.
They just need to make them AUV3 but most developers aren't doing it.
Will Logic Pro 2 be an app we have to purchase separately?
No it's a free update.
Will logic pro 2 be on the M1 ipad.
Yes, it works on all the same models the previous version does.
Tbh I probably won't be renewing my yearly subscription for Logic Pro for iPad....not because it isn't good but I rarely use it, and also my iPad is a 2020 iPad Pro and not an M series iPad and I dont see myself buying a new iPad right now, I just bought an M3 Max MacBook Pro and I have Logic Pro for that .
Midi mapping in logic for ipad 2?
Fingers crossed. I'm sure there will be lots of other 'smaller' updates alongside the big features Apple announced today when Logic 2 releases on the 13th.
ARA for stuff like Melodyne would be more welcome than any of these features.
I want an “imitone”-feature. Where singing melodies translates to instrument. And … no monthly fee please. One time payment Thank you
A one time payment would be prohibitively expensive for most people. A $5 a month subscription lowers the barrier of entry and ensures that anyone who wants to make music with Logic on their iPad can do so.
For Logic Pro iPad how to turn voice to instrument ai
Not something you can do unfortunately
@@TheLogicProGuide but how
@@NoTon-wh2di you can’t do it in Logic
Still need an easy export options so you can export easily to another Daw with bux and aux efx printed, it’s takes so long bouncing each stem especially if you have over 40 stems .
You’re right, would be great to have for collaboration.
So, any way to do multi-outs on drummer yet? It's not really even good for me as scratch pad without that.
Remains to be seen, though I’m sure there will be a lot of other less flashy additions/fixes in the patch notes.
Anyone else excited for new pianos? I just like to play around with stock pianos, it is fast, they are not the best.
Logic sucks since there is presently no punch in and out recording and functions like rec, play etc. are not assignable to a footswitch as all is possible in the Mac Version
Midi Learn?
Unclear yet. Hopefully.
If they didnt add a true midi learn for auv3 instruments, its still a really deep POS
Was just having a 'discussion' with somebody online about the return on investment from Logic Pro and they just got mad and said they'll make us pay for upgrades soon enough bra bra bra. 'Twas a pleasure to know he had a shit day today because I know he remembers our 'discussion'.
Had a few ‘discussions’ like that myself today. People liking Logic seems to make some people very angry for some reason 🤷♂️
did they make it useable yet? logic for ipad ui is so awful
How would you improve it?
Flex pitch
Pretty sure they would have mentioned if they were adding Flex Pitch in this update.
No Save As, continuous saving in logic iOS? … nah , I’ll pass this is unpractical and could do more harm than good.
It is still subscription-fucking-based, isn’t it?
Correct
I paid £50 and forgot about my "subscription" it will no doubt creep up on me early next year but I highly recommend paying for 12 months if you want to use Logic Pro seriously...
"Sweaty Hands"?!?!?! Are you aware of the derogatory rhyming slang for Scottish people? I'm 1/4 Scottish so I'm not being rude (well not trying to be at least) ✌
You’re thinking of sweaty socks, not sweaty hands pal.
....................Gender study major? Life is a worrisome place being like that.
Logic Pro update? More like a Garageband update.
The more I hear AI being added the less I'm interested.
What specifically about these AI features turn you off?
@@TheLogicProGuide Are they really the features we want in a Pro application. I mean it can be handy I guess and it could save time for some but do we really rush things even faster. Just go back 50 years (when they made the best music of course :p) Producing a song took time and skill and somehow people got it done and made the best songs ever. Than we went to digital and everything was supposed to be easier and better. Plugins still don't sound like the old analog gear it's trying to emulate. So even that didn't work out as we would've thought. And now we're getting AI which basically means any person can hit a few buttons and another song is born. That's why I said this is more like an update for Garageband than it is for Logic. It's not even a small update. We're going from 10 to 11 after so many years of waiting. It's so underwhelming. Sorry for the long rant. But really I'm thinking of switching DAW after more than 2 decades of using Logic Pro.
@@JustDoIt-xq9pido whatever floats your boat dude. No one's stopping you
When you hear there's a week wait for this and the videos only been up 7hrs so it's literally a weeeeeek!! !! 😫😩😫
Core users don't use these idiotic session players. Automation is still broken in 10.8.1 and they dared to launch Logic 11 wtf?
No one uses them, they haven’t been released yet.
@@TheLogicProGuidehe means apple just added useless gimicks but not much to make it a better daw
