What gear are you using for music production when travelling?
iPad Pro with a mic plugged in for quick decent quality sampling 😉
Logic Pro X! Once there is major 3rd party plugin and instrument compatibility, I will use Logic for Ipad!
I use the voice memo app and tell myself I use the ideas later but never do.
I'm a Windows/Android user. B) Anything by Apple is overadvertised, overshilled and too expensive for me. I don't like paying 80% of the price for the brand and that posh "Apple exclusivity'. Besides: I'm REALLY used to the Windows workflow and some of my favorite tools I use I can't find the Mac version of.
haven't been anywhere in 20 years!!
my laptop still has windows 7 on it! 😆
I've recorded a live show with full band with iPad Pro 1st gen. with Cubasis. 24 tracks through a Midas M32 and worked excellent. Probably I could do it with my iPhone too 😂 I began working as a audio engineer in the analog era with Studer tape recorder and Neve and now you can do it with an iPhone, that's insane, Cheers!
It's incredible what you can achieve today! Indeed. Glad you think so and thanks for sharing
Yes it really is!
@@Beatledave7 Yay! Agreed
As a Reaper user I 100% support this. Haha one thing I love about logic is I can come back to it 7 years later and still click around and figure easily where things are. Very intuitive / simple software.
Great point! I'm sure I will be doing the same as time goes on. Thanks for watching
Better keep the subscription up to date.
That was FUN and so good to have Jude on camera. He's kind of a natural!
He is! Thanks Lee
You’ll love it Warren! It’s amazing you can have a studio in your travel bag! I never cease to be amazed by what can be done in Logic.
Thanks ever so much! I really appreciate it
Anyone else nervously watching the 12% power icon in the top right corner of the iPad screen? 🙂 Great work as always, Warren 👍✌
Great video! Thanks for jumping into this Warren
Thanks ever so much!
Finally ! Looking forward for the next episodes.
Glad to see this is on the radar for you and the team. I don't use Logic Pro on desktop, but I am considering using it on iPad, which I use quite a bit for music, but waiting for the hype splash and desktop vs. iPad debates to settle down until things become more objective. This channel is all about the stuff and no nonsense, so looking forward to more on this.
Thanks ever so much!
Great run through Warren, looking forward to more!
Thanks ever so much
That is amazing. To see how far tech has come is a joy sometimes. Think that song will be in my head all day long now. ha ha. Thanks very much for the great video
Thanks ever so much Joey!
Warren, you’re so much fun to listen to and learn from. Thanks!
Thanks ever so much
We’re definitely living a wonderful place in tech.
The fact that making music can be done on a device like an iPad is just amazing.
A few years ago, this would’ve been unthinkable!
Always great seeing you create!!
Also, may I ask how do you have your new Audient console setup with the Carbon?
It’s setup that I’ve been eyeing for myself lately.
🙌🏻
Cheers.
I just started a new album project on Logic Pro for iPad. Full tracking, editing, and mixing I’m doing exclusively on it. I’ll then I’ll finalize on Mac. It’s been a DREAM so far! Took some getting use to doing things a bit different from Logic on Mac, but i’M IN LOVE!!! Especially being able to just work on stuff out in the world. It’s a game changer for productivity!
Great video Warren
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much
As a channel who only focuses on mobile music production to see Logic Pro come to iPad is like the biggest thing in the world. For those of us who have been investing in the mobile ecosystem for a while by buying all these AUv3 apps we now have a DAW worthy of being called Pro and I couldn't be more excited.
That’s wonderful to hear! Thanks ever so much for sharing
Great video. Wasn’t expecting you doing a video on Logic Pro for iPad, so respect!
Appreciate it!
@@Producelikeapro You are welcome!
I love that feeling of wonder when you discover an ancient recording you'd forgotton about. I recently found a live recording on a minidisk from 2009, couldn't remember what I played on it and took 2 songs before I recognized an effect cymbal I had on the drums around that time.
Kudos for what may be the most straight forward "getting started" with LP for iPad to date!
Great, now thousands of people have this song stuck in their heads for days. Thanks a lot Warren. 😭
Haha! Sorry!
Logic for iPad looks AWESOME! Such a great tool for music creators all over the world; specially, those who travel often!
Great content as usual Warren!
Definitely! Thanks for watching!
Only problem is you can't buy a licence
@@DarkTrapStudio I’m also not a fan of subscription services. Nevertheless, this definitely brings down the barrier to entry for most people getting started with music production which is definitely a plus!
@@homestudioacademy Tottaly agree but you could pay a daw with Alma (x3x4x12), Reaper is very cheap, fl is free forever for upgrade, Ableton as a standard version that can be used professionally and so on
I love the concept of the software package. I am still using GarageBand and want to learn all of the ins and outs of that before I go onto another package first learn the basics then move up is my motto. Thank you for the video.
Thanks ever so much Patrick!
Outstanding production guys and great tutorial video.
Thanks ever so much
Thanks. Didn’t know this was out. Looks interesting and that was a great demo.
Thanks ever so much! I really appreciate it
Welcome back into the light Warren!
haha! Thanks! You will see Logic Pro a lot more in the coming months whilst in Europe
@@Producelikeapro There is one MAJOR bummer about Logic Pro for Ipad...... You cannot do Quick Swipe Comp Editing on it (yet anyway), and THAT is what Logic does better than every other DAW IMHO
@@bradleyhagen4564 not being a Logic expert I'm not going to miss that! haha
Looking and sounding better than ever Warren! Excited for you guys to be in Europe!👍
Thanks so much!
There is so much cool tech and advancements to quality of life stuff to make things easier and automated. Thanks for sharing a new way to mix while doing mobile work! I have considered getting a tablet for sometime, and I like the option to mix like this out in the field. Now I am curious how it does with like 24 channels and during a whole tracking session. Looking forward to updates Warren!
Fantastic video!
Thanks ever so much!
Nice! I have a iPad and always wanted try logic. I gonna give it a try. Thanks for sharing. Cool demo. 🎸. Thanks!
Thanks ever so much
Garage Band hasn’t been the only option we’ve had on iPad. There are some pretty good iPad DAWs as well as AUv3 plug-ins. But Logic (at least for me) takes it to another level.
Great Logic demo and that song has a super-catchy chord progression 😎
Very cool! I also use Logic for iPad and an Apogee Boom interface. My first attempt wasn‘t very successful as l recorded with too little gain. Will have too record once again. But I like this way of recording away from home.
Jude Rocks!
He does!
I Always play bass thru a my vox and guitar same setting jeje
Marvellous! Great minds think alike!
Looks really great, I do love the soft edges of Logic visually. 10.8 is out now, worth an update!
Fantastic demo Warren!!! Looks like I’m upgrading to a new iPad to run this lol!
Go for it!
The program seems to be running really well even with the iPads at only 8-12% battery! Really cool, gonna have to give it a shot
Let me know how it goes!
GarageBand on phone on the start, then we switching to Logic Ipad to finishing the concept idea for the track and get to desktop version of Logic to finalize the track, this is the perfect combos for producers who mainly on Apple Music ecosystem!
Thanks ever so much for sharing
Never thought i'll see this day warren cooking up straight fire.
haha thanks!
Cool video! Logic Pro definitely has pros and cons, as does the iPad version. But it's still my favorite DAW because it's a great combination of power and ease of use.
Power, ease of use, fully integrated ecosystem and best value among professional DAWs!
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
@@BobBobbo-cv2nl marvellous!
@@BobBobbo-cv2nl The ecosystem alone, despite some people's resistance to the idea, is even greater than the sum of its parts, an invaluable feature unto itself. I have such an abundant of riches, tools, scenarios to work with it's almost impossible Not to get anything done unless I truly opt for distraction or laziness.
Excelente! Falta agora fazer um vídeo testando o Logic para mac ❤.
Super practical - Genius
Hi, in logic pro ipad we don't have third party plugins, native instruments for example, but that forces you to use the stock plugins which makes you more productive since you don't waste so much time looking for sounds in so many external plugins.
Thanks ever so much for sharing
I’m pretty excited about having Logic Pro on the iPad, and I’ve signed up for the year subscription. Just two issues for me, both of which I’m sure will be resolved at some point: I need some of my go-to third-party plug-ins to do any mixing. And I’ll need a compatible 8-channel interface to record my acoustic drums (my Apogee Element 88 won’t work with an iPad). So for now, it will be for composing and maybe recording some guitar, MIDI, or vocals.
haha, I liked the Tot ziens at the end. Nice quick walkthrough and greetings from NL. I'm always bringing my iPad and little Native Instruments M32 keyboard when on holiday. And when I have my macbook with my I also take my Maschine MKiii with me. Thinking about upgrading to a Maschine Plus and iPad Pro and let these be the two things to carry. That would give me anything to produce on any couch and still have a compact setup.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
I’m going to be bringing this with me to Europe!
Wow! That's a very nice studio there. Minimalistic but compact.
Yes, indeed!
Love my iPad Pro! It’s nice seeing more powerful apps coming to it. It felt like it was way overpowered with the M2 chip and the future is looking very bright with developers utilizing all that power.
Thanks ever so much for sharing
Great review.
Glad you enjoyed it
I’ve been using Auria on iPad to record band rehearsals. I’ll have to check this out. Pricing really doesn’t sound bad to me.
Fantastic video, but I had absolutely crushing battery anxiety watching the top right corner! Also, what desk is that?! The integrated controller is awesome!
Yes! We love this deal! Purpose built
What most people don’t seem to grasp, is that if you pay monthly you really only need to pay while you need it. Get it for when you go travelling etc, then don’t pay anymore until you need it again. Although its getting amazing reviews, i cant see most of those people using it all the time. At least you don’t need to buy something you hardly use.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
@@Producelikeapro no problem. I’ve learnt so much from your channel, but I’m quite new to Logic (both Mac and now iPad). I love that I can take my
iPad to gigs and record a multitrack from the desk, then do a rough mix on the long drive home 😁
Great review! I'm a Logic user on Mac and sometimes get frustrated with the cluttered layout, and of course, the over-reliance on arcane keyboard shortcuts. Logic on iPad seems to be much clearer & better organized. $50 a year subscription isn't bad. I wonder if MainStage for iPad is coming next?
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
iPad version of MainStage is what I’m holding out for.
I knew it would have happened sooner or later. I play live in cover bands and use a huge amount of virtual instruments with a host called GigPerformer. A killer application.
Now I can dream of a light tool like an iPad. Waiting the good guys (Arturia, Native etc) to port their instrument to iOS. Sadly the apple instruments cannot play outside Logic or Garage Band
For the Amp designer you probably touched like 5% of what it does (just the presets). If you open the Amp Designer main UI, you can edit microphone positions, change cabinets, tweek all params and so on. And then there's Pedals, with dozens of virtual pedal FX...
That edit window, looks just as the Captain Epic Plugin suite, it's quite easy to make drums, chords, and more from Mixed in Key (payed version) great stuff.
Thanks ever so much
Music production is getting more and more compact. I can totally see a future where instead of investing on a high-end desktop or laptop, people are just gonna use an iPad or their phone to produce tracks that sound as professional as if it were produced on a computer.
This already sound pretty much professional and super clean, Logic has everything on board to produce decent sounding tracks.
I think you'll like logic pro very much.
I have to get in to the thick of it but it's intuitive enough to get started and write this simple track.
@@Producelikeapro you do not use logic? 0o amazing. why not?
@@RedButtonTV1 he uses pro tools
@@RedButtonTV1 I've been using Pro Tools for around 25 years! Haha I know it inside and out!
@@cured_bacon647 yes, indeed!
Not sure why anyone would use anything besides REAPER - I just love that DAW & company. They are the best features rock solid performance and masterful in total support and training - all for a literal fraction of the cost of PT or Logic.
The new studio keeps looking better! I don't use apple products, so it wouldn't work for me but understand the "logic" behind the move ('skuze the pun). I'm happy with my trusty laptop and Cubase 12 Pro, it's not just my mobile studio but my main studio too 😂 I'm quite happy mixing in the box and thanks to PLAP my results are starting to resemble decent mixes 🤘
Thanks for sharing!
How do you rate Cubase out of ten?
great vid warren! can you let me know what desk you are using with space for an keyboard? love your stufff!
It’s purpose built
Unrelated to the iPad, but I love the Doepfer keyboard integrated into the desk!
Marvellous
@warren.. Could you do a comparison with Cubasis? I think Cubasis is pretty similar. I use it all the time. I have a small production studio in the house using Cubasis, which I then transfer to my main studio - one to one - no fuss onto Cubase Pro. We are living in the future we dreamed of as kids back in the 80‘s. Phenomenal. Thanks for doing what you do Warren.
I currently use Mixcraft on a laptop when traveling. I don't need anything more extensive/powerful than that.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
Have not tried it yet and don't have an iPad now because MacBook Air is very portable, has great battery and familiar form (and more RAM if one needs it). I'm really curious if ppl will prefer an iPad instead of a MBA.
Thanks ever so much for sharing! I really appreciate it!
Love me some Logic pro
Marvellous
Cubase has an iPad version called Cubasis (There is also an Android version). It's priced as a one off payment of £50.00 so is price comparable. I've certainly used Cubasis effectively when I've been travelling but I can't do a direct comparison between Cubasis and Logic for iPad as I don't use Logic. I suspect people who's main rig uses Logic will use Logic for iPad and people who use Cubase will use Cubasis.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
That was cool. 😊
Warren I’ve been using Logic Pro for iPad for 3 months. The stability can’t be beat by any of the other iPad daws. But where are you getting the “logic x” from? This is Logic Pro for iPad v1.x not to be confused with the tenth iteration of Logic for Mac.
Huge Logic fan...😎👍
Marvellous
An iPad file management video would be nice. Or can you put projects on an external SSD while still using an interface? It would be good to get into this area as a follow up. Thanks
Thanks for the idea! Once I get to know it better I might be able help! Haha
I've plugged a USB memory stick into my ipad pro using a cheep USB-C to USB adapter from Amazon and it shows up in the files app right away so I can’t see a problem with an external SSD especially with the great NVME enclosures you can get now.
@@ministryinsong cool, good to know.
@@ChadWork1 You probably need a powered usb hub, if interface and ssd is connected at the same time. I had trouble connecting peripherals to my
iPhone SE, so had to use Apples usb3 to lightning camera adapter. It also feeds power to the usb bus.
funking fun i dig it.
Thanks ever so much!
Logic is not just the best music software I have ever used, it is the best software, period.
Thanks ever so much for sharing
I did a video on this as well with a $50 Behringer interface, a U87 clone, and an MPK mini. Results were surprising.
Thanks ever so much for sharing! I’ll check out your video!
@@Producelikeapro Thanks!
@@PAINFULLYHONESTTECH marvellous!
@@Producelikeapro Thank you!
Surprisingly good or surprisingly bad?
Garageband is just an abridged version of Logic Pro X anyway. Both can do the job for recording demos perfectly.
I started on a 16 track Stevens machine at studio West in San Diego. I was on ProTools for a decade. Now I am using logic for the virtual instruments because all my band mates are dead.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
@@Producelikeapro I use Adobe Audition for my audiobooks. I was at The Village Recorder from 1979 to 1982 and got to work with artists Supertramp, Zappa, and Fleetwood Mac.
digging the deep house vibes
Haha thanks!!
It's really great, I prefer to use it with a duet3, and it works great
Two questions from a novice.
1) If you were getting back into recording after a long break (ProTools LE user with original Mbox many years ago) would Logic have an easier learning curve?
2) How difficult is to overdub on a project that was started on ProTools from Logic. I've never quite understood how that works.
i am Logic user since they came out with the Emagic audio card for PC
Thanks ever so much for sharing
Sounds really cool! I saw it imports ool garage band sessions but does it open old logic sessions? Does it also update/use the same plug ins we have in our Logic rigs?
I hope this is a step towards Apple making MainStage available for iPads now.
Maybe!
Makes sense that would be next. I’d pay for a subscription to MainStage
Although I'm a Windows guy for just about everything else, I've been using Macs for music production simply because I like Logic so much.
That’s great to hear! Thanks ever so much for sharing!
pc is just absurdity for music
Geee that track brought me back to when I went to watch The Beach in the late 90’s or 2000!?
I would like to try this set up.
Marvellous
I really think we are looking at the Logic Pro 11 in demo how it will final look and we won’t have ssd drive but using iCloud storage and transferring from one device to another and emerse in spatial audio and apple vision pro ❤😂 can’t wait
awesome !
Thanks ever so much
the logic stock compressor are as good as any fancy software options.
Very cool
My OCD is kicking hard looking at the iPad Battery Percentage! 🤪
Warren, I am curious why you don't use the Apogee Duet or their Symphony Desktop for traveling since these interfaces are built from the ground up as part of the Apple ecosystem and have great preamps.
LOVE Apogee! Own many things by them! However, every unit I use plug and plays instantly with Apple products, never had any issues with any companies. Never had to download a drover, they just plug in and work!
@@ProducelikeaproPro That's usually par for the course with Apple's third-party products. Love your new console and waiting to take a listen!
@@BobBobbo-cv2nl yes, it seems everyone makes their products Plug and play with Apple. I'm sure that has to do with Apple's standards etc.
In fact I know it is as many Plug In Companies complain how Apple puts them through the ringer! At the end of the day that's better for the user as they are less likely to have major issues.
It's absolutely neat, but for those who own a MB Pro, is iPad more portable....MBP goes everywhere with me and it's comparable portablilty isn't enough to push me to iPad Logic vs the on the Mac, for those who only own an iPad, definitely a good move.
Another vote for mainstage! Mainstage with third-party plug-ins would make half of the instruments on the stage iPads… Can you imagine having your favorite, third-party, plug-ins and instruments in mainstage on the same screen where your set list is, sheet music is and where your lyrics are and your tuner !!! All on one 3 pound tablet or maybe a couple T7 SSD’s. Done plug it into whatever your favorite amp is or use an app in the iPad and send it out to the PA.
Apple, if you’re listening Mainstage will take over stages all over the world if you do this!!
The iPad with mainstage would become one of the most used instruments in the world.
Cool technology and cool video too! Just curious, how does the physical keyboard connect to this setup?
Most commonly people go for bluetooth keyboards for these setups
What do you think about Garageband? I love it for getting down a few ideas. It’s beautifully simple and easy to use
Always a winner for me!
So Holy Shit. This changes music.
once more 3rd party guitar plugins jump on board it'll be great. I don't think anyone would use the stock logic sims out of choice
They sounded good to me. However, of course third party Amp Sims would be great!
Logic is awesome. Mac in general. 🤘 I always said I’d never switch to Mac.. now that I have I’ll never go back
Thanks ever so much for sharing
Well, as a pro i might subscribe but working with cubasis on my Ipad since years and export the skribbles to nuendo, even collaborate via vst connect. FCPX is sort of complicated overkill for the average user, Lumafusion does the job also since years. So what is fundamentally better here except for Logic users? A gemechanger would be adapting it to vision pro next year (i bet its in the pipeloie)
How many tracks could you record at once? I realize that's interface dependent...but wondering if you could track 10 tracks at once (for drums) without it burping?
Hmm good question! Considering how powerful the new iPad Pro’s are I don’t foresee any issues at all
I've used Logic for 20-25 years or so and I've always hated it. I started out on Cubase on an Atari ST 1040 and then Cubase on a PC and Mac. I honestly don't know why I switched but I know it got less fun once I did. Someday I tend to switch back :) Actually I recently got Ableton Live Intro and FL studio to try them out.
It is just a matter of time for Apple to apply spatial audio mixing and mastering to the newly announced Apple Vision Pro, with its stunning spatial visual experience as demonstrated on yesterday's WWDC presentation. This new spatial technology will eventually find its way to Logic Pro and make it an indespensible audio tool. We have gone from mono to stereo to Dolby Atmos and Apple is about to raise the bar with its Vision Pro. As I stated in my previous post, Logic is already the best "bang for the buck" DAW in the industry and may become the new ubiquitous audio tool!
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
