Wow Stuart. What an amazing town. I've spent quite a lot of time in Castilla la Mancha but this beautiful place has escaped me. Having lived and worked in this part of Spain I can honestly say that I never once had a bad meal. Great video Stuart, thanks for sharing it with us. 😀👍
I love Castilla La Mancha. It's a very unknown place for tourists.
Food is great and the people are really friendly.
Love the video tour, wow what a lovely place. Really appreciate your efforts Stu, puts a different perspective on the places you visit and hear it as it is .. Top man best regards Marco 😎👊🍷
What a splendid town!!! And the picturesque river! I love your town walk videos. Authenticity at its best. Keep up the good work! 👍
Amazing. I love the tours you give us around these places.
Thank you sir! You do such a great job as our willing and talented tour guide! Thank you!
❤ Bringing back lots of memories. Went there about 50 years ago... I was a kid but I still remember the view. It has changed for the good and look much more thriving. By the way, the Júcar is Valencia's river.
We had a coach trip from Torrevieja to Alcala, we went in the caves. I agree with you about the food, had a delicious meal there. An interesting and very picturesque town. Great video.
Thanks for the adventure Stuart ❤
Amazing Stuart! Thanks for taking us along.
27:34 I'm pretty sure Stu edited the video because named the town the English way: Alcala of the Hooker
a lot of us English speakers would call it alcala the hooker!! Right @stuart? ;)
What a fun walk - thank you. The park at the water's edge seemed like natural place to picnic or bring some take-out food there to enjoy (seems counterintuitive to prohibit it). And I would need a restroom for one of those long walks. 😄Yay, a Roman bridge! Thanks again...
Wow. A nice place, definitely somewhere I would like to visit. Thanks Stu
I had friends over a couple of years ago, thinking now it must be about 5 years ago it was BC / Before Covid! Alcalá del Júcar is a beautiful place to visit Stuart, so try to go to Alcoy while you are in the region as well it’s stunning!! Enjoy your stay!
Wow, I didn't know about that one! It's just up the motorway from me and it's definitely on my list for a weekend away.
I have been told there is no public land for free camping on in Spain, if so it seems only fair to make organized camper parking accessible to all. That aspect around the country would be an interesting side study as you go. Thank you again. Great job!
Loved this town! Kinda reminded me of Cuenca. Seemed a bit expensive, though (except for the parking).
Appreciate it 👍
Informative tour 😍 🇪🇸
Ahhh have to say Stu for us ex pats who returned home myself back in 1987 you sure take us on a little journey back down memory lane just needed a trip to the bakery for my pastel de cabello de angel lol , well done x
I so agree! so fun to do the walk with you!
Debería ir a Alcaraz, Albacete. Es una maravilla.😊
Ayna es buenísimo también. Yo fui allí hace 2 semanas.
Are they cellars or caves? 😀
You're probably the first Aussie that black cat has ever seen. S/he was not impressed. 😂
Amazing looking town. I wonder how it looks at night with the street lights on.
Truly thanks, even the accommodation really retains its cave reality
That was interesting, we visited Alcala several times about 10 years ago but had never up into the older narrow streets. The drive to Alcala is impressive too, from both directions. Have you been to Letur, also in Albacete? It's even more picturesque than Alcala. Letur also has lots of water, impressive scenery, wonderful walking and an amazing old town.
Best wishes, Jenny
Very interesting walk Stu. 😊
Yesssss ! Our favourite place in La Mancha !!!! A well hidden secret for sure. The restaurant EL MIRADOR is amazing !! The view from there is out of this world, food and service exceptional …
Oh my goodness , I would have total anxiety walking in those tide little roads and not sure how to get out. Or sleeping in a cave 😮, so small ! The town is nice though and all the Restaurants.
Yesssss awesome episode
Great video, great place, thanks
It looks like a beautiful place to visit. Thanks for making the trek for us and sharing. Question: is there a Mrs Stu on your trips or do you do all of your visits solo?
I ❤️ Alcalá del Jucar, I have been several times and I am going again next week on a day trip.
Fabulous tour of a fabulous town. Thanks , Stuart !
Very interesting thank you
A very enjoyable and interesting video of an intriguing town Stuart. For information, the Jucar runs down to Cullera where it enters the Mediterranean. I used to fish just inland from there as it passes through a village called Fortaleny. This part of the river has been used to hold the Iberian Open where anglers from all over Europe compete for the title.
I visited Cullera last week, what a beautiful view there is of the sea and surrounding buildings.
I spent some time around there looking at fishing places , I was shocked by the amount of rubbish left by the river , as well as being shocked by the amount of rubbish I was even more shocked to find it was the Spanish that left it . Some family’s were picnicking along the river. which was a stunning setting , I couldn’t believe how they just left all their rubbish ..
So enjoyable when it is uncrowded! You have an excellent voice for your work. Are bicycles or metal detectors allowed to be used here?
Gracias
I drove up there about a month or so ago and plan to take hubby before it gets too hot soon.
Love the vlog tonight Stuart 👍 looks like a really interesting place I'm sure you're enjoying it there and enjoying a few glasses of the red stuff I'm sure😂🍷🍷 cheers mate 👍 🍷
Absolutely beautiful as is the Cat.
Great video Stu..A bit taken aback by some of the restaurant prices..I pay that in ireland!
Not too expensive as it probably includes a drink and prices in restaurants have risen sharply since Covid , Happy St.Patricks Day from a fellow Irishwoman in Spain🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
Not sure if you are talking about Dubliln, but being a Dub, I have rarely eaten like i have in Alcala del Jucar; 4 lads, with 2 bottles of wine, around 6-7 dishes shared and 3 desserts, cost us 130€...... All the best!
@@harriettt9857 see my reply above - 2 bottles of good wine and enough food for 4 - €130! good value still in Spain!
Stu I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible to get a car through those narrow streets. Also if you park at the top n work your way down( as you suggested depending on how fit you are ) how do you get back to your vehicle ? You’ve got to climb back up ! The car park price of 3€ per day seems quite reasonable . And the restaurant prices too seem inexpensive as menus are all around 19€ n that probably includes a drink . Thanks for the video
Reminds me of Venice
But to start from the top you have to go to the top first. Well, one may say, you can drive to the top. Sure and then have to walk back to the top to get the car? I dont get it.
Great place to visit just up the road from me. Bring a towel for the beach and don't forget to visit the devil's house only a few euros with a free beer. Miles of tunnels a dance floor and bars amazing cave house
One curiosity. If I JOIN your community does the corporation take a cut?
Looks like a maze
3 Euro camping! very fair anywhere =)
A cave! 🤣
Is there a KFC or McDonalds restaurant there? 😂🤣
