    Hey Bill -
Thanks for showcasing my timepiece! For the ones thinking about getting a multipurpose Patek Nautilus is the way to go.
It's a robust piece, sporty and classic. Definitively a good value pack.
    Great talk about UN.
I never explored the brand in details but on the other hand I've also felt they do a honest work in terms of cost benefit.
Thanks for helping us learn more about them.
    Best,
    Amintas

Hey Amintas, how's it going? I never knew much about Ulysses Nardin and found their history very interesting. Some of their new watches are very captivation. I love this video of the Marine Regatta ( czcams.com/video/avnlke9OqtE/video.html ) That makes this watch doubly exciting with a backward moving hand in countdown mode. Kindest regards, Bill

Hi Bill great show as we have come to expect from you.👍. I always thought of U.N. as marine tool clocks and out of date designs of watches, you have just shown me the error I made in that assumption. Boy do they look beautiful and by the sounds of things they are right at the cutting edge of watch development. Thanks for the wake up call sir, education as always. 👍

Hey Paul, I thought the same thing! Because they had used ETAs, I thought they were high horology "wannabes" but the more I leaned about them I realized that they had come a long way, and I had been wrong about my assumptions. (I never learned anything new when I'm right!) Check this out: czcams.com/video/avnlke9OqtE/video.html It was a mind blower and one of the best watch videos I'd ever seen. Cheers, Bill

I always wanted the UN Marine Chrono on the bracelet. Not sure they still offer it. I really like the dial and the way the case tapers. Good show!

Hey thanks JR! I think that once I get things settled with my current watch expenses, I might start looking for a Regatta on the used or gray markets. UNs are very well priced and innovations seem to be springing out of there in high order lately. Kindest regards, Bill

The Regatta is too busy fo rme. I like the Marine Chrono and the MaxiMarine Diver. I don't think either are in-house, but I like the looks better than most of the others ...

J.R. Regenold Most sports watches are too cluttered for me as well but the Regatta is just right--check out the video that accompanies the GPHG entry in the Sports Watch category.😳

Boss what do you think of Marine Torpilleur? In white, just like the naval chronometer that you’ve post a pic of in the video. Regards !

Hi Andy. if you like that style and don't mind a solid case-back, you can find some good buys on that watch. Here's a decent offer for a new (Condition 0) one: worldofluxuryus.com/watches/ulysse-nardin/marine/marine-chronometer/1183-310-40-ulysse-nardin.html Other than knowing that UN-118 is in-house, I don't know much about the movement. Learn as much as you can about the 118. Good hunting! Cheers, Bill

boss, thx for the answer. found www.chrono24.com/ulyssenardin/marine-chronometer--id7802829.htm for 3.650 euro only. too good not to buy. it is however a see through case-back. with the new beautiful 118... but how god it is only the time will tell... robbreportedit.files.wordpress.com/2017/06/ulysse-nardin-movement.jpg?w=1024&h=576 . don't wanna annoy you with my personal questions, but if u had to go for the new navitimer 43, would u choose the black (reverse panda) www.breitling.com/multimedia/images/configurator2011/images_all_2014/ipad_hd/_transparent/asset-version-cefeb41e28/AB012121-BG75-450A.png or the blue + with the black chrono sub-dials stylefellow.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Navitimer_1_B01_Chronograph_43_with_blue_dial_and_stainless_steel_Navitimer_bracelet.jpg thanks a lot ! truly appreciate an opinion from such an expert of watches!

The Grand Deck looks nice. I have no idea how to read time from that dial. The long hand seems to count minutes, but where is the hour counter? Overall, they seem to come up with some really innovative ideas.

Hi Frantisek, check out last years (2016) GPHG. They entered the Grand Deck and lost to the Eberhard, based largely on price. However, they have a great write-up on the GD. Kindest regards, Bill

Hi Bill, you have merit by doing a video on UN, I read somewhere that they sell mostly in Russia. UN designs are not my cup of tea but I think they are going in the right direction with their recent models. Their Marine tourbillon, an entry in the GPHG is neat and priced well (all things being relative ;-). I almost voted for it before seing the Schwarz Etienne. Have a good weekend.

Hey Roman, thanks man! I really liked the Ul ysse Nardin Marine Regatta for the Sports watch but ended up opting for the Chopard. (I'm a sucker for high beats.) The Russian Navy used UN chronometers for a number of years, and they have an impressive history. That Regatta is my idea of a sports watch. I prefer to watch sports! Cheers, Bill

For a watchmaker, you skipped over many of UN’s technical masterpieces, perhaps the greatest of all being the Ludwig (Oechslin’s) Perpetual. One of the few great rotary QPs

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  Před 10 měsíci

Good point David. Often tempted by one of Oechslin’s PCs but probably wouldn't wear it. Take care, Bill
