The best tip I ever got was from an old boy (Bernhard) in the pub who told me to keep my head still. Now, I didn't even know I was moving my head but he'd noticed on release of my dart that my head moved. So I consciously made sure my head remained still (bit awkward at first), and after I got used to it, it came/comes natural and my aim HAS definitely improved. R.I.P Bernhard xxx So, yeah, my tip: make sure you keep your head still.
darts players are like magicians with the magic circle - they could tell you some specific things if they wanted to but they want to keep it secret otherwise they're worries anyone can do it - say it's about "natural talent" either you got it or you dont. ..
***** i dont think so. once you get great at darts im sure your main thought is, "why the hell doesn't everyone do this, this is easy" and the truth is, it is easy once you know how. and they know how, and they sure as hell aint gonna tell anyone else how
***** sorry mate, the second part of that sentence doesn't logically follow the first part of that sentence. that's two unrelated statements you just made, because thinking what I was thinking wouldn't prevent someone from being good at something.
Yup, with every sport it's actually about knowledge and practice. Leaving your opponents in the dark is exactly the advantage you need as a top player. Now of course there are players that are simply clever enough to figure out the best technique by themselves, then they call this 'talent'.
my problem is that if i hold the dart the way i naturally do i cant practice a lot or my middle finger starts hurting. yesterday i played for like 2 hours and all of a sudden my darts started turning red because my finger started to bleed :D that never happened before but the pain still is very annoying and doesnt help my throw either
Lol completely forgot about this comment :D I dont hold them particularly tight or anything but i mainly use thumb and index finger to hold the dart with the middle finger stabilizing it from below. And there it lies right on the transition from nail to skin which turns out to be a rather sensitive area if you repeatedly put friction on it with a piece of metal with edges on it :D
@@jaja-yz3vh nah, could hardly be further from it :D At this point i basically just play a couple times a week during the month that surrounds the world championship. Do you happen to play somewhat regularly? :D
On the web all information says stand right with both foots on the ground, thats really misinformation and not true at all. Since i leen foward to the bord like Van Gerwen does my trow feels much better then standing right with your hole body.
Why in all these years there has never been a pro with a video who cleary shows and explains how he GRIPS a dart? I guess they don't want to give away the secret, because it's the key to succes.
I've been playing darts for around 15 years and never have i seen any two players grip the dart the same, i have been through multiple grips and stances winning local comps and now running my own league it is down to how comfortable it is for yourself and no one else
There are a few, Bristow's 'The Crafty Cockney Way' video from the 80s goes into how to grip the dart quite deeply. It also points out that what Eric does isn't right, just right for him, and tells you to how to find a good grip for yourself. Taylor also goes into it a bit when teaching people in promo bits like this. John Lowe actually went into some detail about grips in a little book that Unicorn would send you if you wrote off for it in the 80's. That is how I learned about the different styles of grip and how to find out what works best for me.
Practice is the key to success, without practice nobody can win anything. Nobody has ever just got up from the couch won anything, in any sport it's all the same it's all down to practice, practice is everything.
The interviewer has no follow through. I kind of throw like Van Gerwen. I lean forward and sort of cock my shoulders. It feels comfortable and my throws seems more consistent.
great dart player, awful dart instructor, just throw however and keep practicing, Idk where I release it, hereish, hereish, hereeeeish, you bad at dart huahuahua I am bald wit zee red lipz
what he's trying to imply is that you have to hold your darts , position yourself , throw in what ever way makes you feel more confortable, and try not to be all frozen up in front of the block just be yourself , it's really good advice
This is solid first-time advice. Notice how stiff the man is. First thing to get rid of is this stiffness of his. Seems like he's afraid of the board lol.

Follow through.
Excellent mate
It would be nice if they were lit like the board. Part of the mystery.

Any dummy can be told the ‘perfect’ throw. Executing consistently is another thing completely.

Idk I kind of disagree the beteer players you play the better you become so why not try to help someone get bettert?
