    Thanks Dude you showed this perfectly and explained the operation in depth. There are Dart 1.4 videos that copy the dis-assembly and adjustment but dont explain how it works- probably because they dont understand it.

    This is great to know, I hadn’t even thought about the stock waste gate getting no load because of heat cycles and driving!

    Was one of the first things I did with my 2013 Abarth because I was constantly getting p0299 check engine lights. Fix them almost entirely. I still get an occasionally if I leave sport mode on and I'm not flooring it in 4th gear, but that's really about it

    • @stevey500
      @stevey500 Před 2 lety

      Nice. I keep getting p051c, seems to pop up when on light throttle at highway speed going up hill. I’ll do the wastegate preload check, though. Also running a short ram air intake that doesn’t pull proper air through the factory intake box. Evap purge couldn’t possibly be working correctly without air running through the factory box. Update: this was entirely caused by previous owner installed "hot air intake" that didn't properly utilize the tank purge- this also left the PCV sucking in unfiltered air when off boost- terrible products. Returning to factory air intake resolved.

    Hi! I recently got the turbosmart Wastegate, I set it at 2mm from base position (2 full turns) I feel the car is under boost, no codes just feels sluggish. It is the 7 psi actuator. Also the dash gauge on idle stays way below zero

  • @ThePupil

    I have a punto evo 1.4 turbo. It has a wastegate rattle. I saw there was a crack in the heatshield, not sure if that has anything to do with it. But I will definitely check the load on the actuator. Clear instructions, thanks! What would be the possible difference you would notice from, no (or negative) load to propper load? Less turbo lag/gap? *Edit, i just saw it in the last 3 min.

    • @TorkMotorsports
      @TorkMotorsports  Před 2 lety

      Same car with rattle, i've shortened the waste gate arm by 3 mm I think ( 6 half turns, or 3 full turns), (from the neutral position where the arm goes in without pulling it). rattle is now gone. Is this bad for the turbo /engine? Xx

    hey john, thanks for all the hard work you do for the kia/hyundai scene. do you think you can do a video explaining the new process of installing the EBCS upgrade for 1st ten VT’s? since you changed to MAC it looks a little different and i’m planning on buying one from your website tomorrow

    What is the factory pre-load for the 500T? I know it was 1mm prior to 2014, and I’ve seen info saying it’s 4+ from factory after 2014 but I can’t find anything to reinforce that.
    So far I’ve set it to 2mm of preload under the assumption the car came with 1mm. I don’t have any plans upgrading the car, just wanted to turn the turbo up a smidge for better day to day driving

    • @TorkMotorsports
      @TorkMotorsports  Před 2 lety

      Checking different cars, it would appear that they didn't have a setting from the factory and were just taking them out of the box and putting them on the cars. I have seen a little as 1mm and as much as 10mm. I recommend setting it to the 3 to 5mm as stated inside of the video and checking to see if the car runs good after that adjustment.

    Will this possibly help with a p2261? I’ve already replaced the diverter valve and the boost control solenoid and I’ve replaced all vacuum lines with the boost controller. Just installed the GF+DV adapter and removed the larger spring. I’m stumped

    • @TorkMotorsports
      @TorkMotorsports  Před rokem

      Possibly, never tested to see if that would help that code.
      You noted that you replaced the boost solenoid what about the BOV solenoid?

    • @Vbeast
      @Vbeast Před rokem

      @@TorkMotorsports I fixed it. Apparently, the turbo was creating a magnetic field that would not let the oem BOV solenoid open. The fix was installing the turbo smart kompact EM dual port BOV.

    fiat punto evo 2010 sporting m air, i've shortened the waste gate actuator by 3 full turns(or 6 half turns I guess, from neutral position) because I ve had that waste gate rattle when decelerating. Rattle is now gone,. Is it safe for the turbo, engine this? Tnx xx

    So I did this on my 2013 Abarth, completely stock. Adjusted it to 5mm (was at 0mm) and I started having an issue with it stalling.. I figured it was because the ECU needed to relearn everything, but it still does it. Seems to do it occasionally when accelerating hard or more often when using any more than half throttle when the engine isn’t completely warmed up.
    I’ve adjusted it down to 4mm, changed spark plugs, coils, air filter, multiair filter, PCV valve, cleaned AOC, and changed my oil.
    I think I might adjust it back down to 2mm? Is 4-5mm too much for a stock car?

    • @kostagoudis1170
      @kostagoudis1170 Před 2 lety +1

      After changing to to 4mm did you see a difference? I am curious why you are stalling though. I would suspect either an air hose is getting blocked or it is affecting the exhaust manifold in some way. Curious to see what you did... I was about to adjust mine as well.

    • @TorkMotorsports
      @TorkMotorsports  Před 2 lety

      You could have a different problem. Now... cold engine and full throttle on a 1.4 turbo multiair engine, will always have some issues. The multiair brick is driven by oil pressure and if the oil is to cold, it will overpressure and cause a few issues.

    • @gratigo1
      @gratigo1 Před 2 lety +1

      @@TorkMotorsports turns out the issue was faulty coils. It’s so it with any more than 20-25% throttle when cold at first, then started doing it at full throttle acceleration at full temp. I threw my old coils on there and all is well again 🥴

    Hi we checked my 2013 preload. Seemed like 0 preload ,we then turned about 6-8 . But by psi will fly up to 18 but holds more like 14-16 but only for about 2-3 seconds then the psi starts falling all the way down to 6 . Any suggestions. Maybe leak at solenoid or need new wastegate solenoid? Help

    • @TorkMotorsports

      @@TorkMotorsports we ended up checking cam shaft solenoid and switched waste gate accuator from our 2014 abarth and changed out the ecm from 500 madness and the wire harness that 500 sends and then it seemed to get better then we noticed a leak now at the brake vacuum pump it was spraying. So we bought the new crush gasket ,and now it always has a drip. But the boost seems to stay at 18 in 2nd and 3rd 4th. So I just ordered a new brake vacuum pump . But I dont think the exm was helping so we are getting it re flashed . And changing out the brake vacuum pump
