For many years, a legend grew that during world war one a battalion, charging towards a woodland had vanished into a mysterious mist and not one soldier had come back.
They had simply all disappeared…
But what really happened?

The question is, what kind of danger the Turks have for British people? Nothing. It was a war between arrogant figureheads that only led to pain and suffering and the second world War.
Not really, a lot of the european nobility did fight at the fronts, and taking over that beach was a strategic advantage to cut supplies to the frontlines, don't try to defend the ottoman empire they did awful things as well
If anything, had the British have taken over that part of the Ottoman Empire, the people up in the north might not have been discriminated as much.
Not to mention, officers in the armies at that time died at a higher rate then normal infantry per capita. They were taught to be inspraitional and fearless for their enlisted ranks, so they often didn't duck or seek cover when the bullets started flying.

This reminds me of a story about my Great grandfather Sgt Bernard Keating, an intelligence operator (Morse code) ordered directly by Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery. At the beach of Dunkirk during the retreat, sgt Keating left his platoon to relay a code on his motorcycle. When he had come back not so long later, they were all killed on the beach, I suppose afterwards he zoomed off knowing the Germans were nearby. He also fought in Normandy, El Alamein, Algiers, Monte Casino, etc. Great men died on that beach and those who knew Montgomery always claimed he was an unfit leader with Napoleon syndrome. (No disrespect, thank our heroes today for tomorrow🖤)

Great video, keep up the good work.
I’d love to see a video on the retreat from Kabul by sir elphistone on this channel. One of the worst catastrophes in British military history because a British officer treated his enemy with too much mercy
The elderly Elphinstone showed all the warning signs that would now be recognised as the onset of dementia, and was completely unsuitable for command. Which proved disastrous, as his command was deep in enemy territory and none of his officers dared relieve him of command
its more the typical British ignorance, seen in the present UK government!

As usual, I found your video both informative and quite interesting. However, there are a few relatively minor errors that you might want to keep in mind for future productions.
1. Unlike the prefix "USS:", one never puts the article "the" in front of "HMS." It's grammatically incorrect and sounds clumsy. One does not say "the Her Majesty's Ship."
2. As you mention, Churchill was First Lord of the Admiralty from 1911-15. As such he was the civilian Cabinet minister ultimately responsible for Admiralty and Royal Navy affairs, but he was not actually in the Royal Navy itself and thus did not wear a RN uniform. Sometimes he donned a yachting reefer and white cap at this time, but is was not a Naval uniform.
3. "Allies" is a term from WWII. In WWI, they were the "Entente."
