- How to make a watercolor quilt pattern for beginners. Watercolor quilting uses a gradient background by blending colors to create a watercolor effect with fabric, just like an impressionistic painting.
It's a SUPER easy and fun sewing project you absolutely need to try!

Watercolor quilts! Who knew it was a thing? Not me!!! But I loved it, absolutely loved it! So much fun!! Enjoy!
That is so cute 😍
Carina!
Years ago, I once bought a new book on watercolor quilting at a book fair.
After reading the extremely detailed instructions, I never made one.
When I later met a friend of a friend who was an enthusiastic watercolor quilter, I presented her with this book. Turns out she had been searching for the out-of-print book and actually squealed.
Twenty years later, I'm going to give it a try after watching your video. The smaller size seems manageable and way less fussy.
Thank you 🍄🍄
That's so awesome, you've made my day! ☺️
I love making black and white quilts with a splash of colour in each block. Very dramatic. Red is my favourite.
Have you tried randomly adding a narrow strip of solid black when sewing a spider block? Mine are 12 in squares of diagonally sewn scrap strips that I then cut into four, ( 6 in) squares. If you include the batting and back fabric, the blocks can be done quilt-as-you-go.
The occasional black strip piece just gives an extra punch for the eyes on scrappy utility quilts.
Love that
Beautiful quilt. When you look at the colors in nature, all the colors look great with each other, no matter what color they are. I think the same is true when sewing scrappy or watercolor quilts. All the colors of fabric look good together.
Beautiful ❤
I liked it very much, but not sure I like it better than just plain scrappy😊
Beautiful 😍😍!! This is something that children could do. A great first back to sewing project for my children ❤❤❤ oh...and I will be doing at least one as well....so many themes to choose from....
Yes! The potential is unlimited! I'm doing so many more of these!!
Beatiful!!
That is so stinking cute 😍 💖, I have to make a baby quilt with a water theme and this is gust the inspiration I needed. Thanks ❤️ 😊
Right??? I got it on my wall and I keep staring at it 😁
Black is great for a stained glass look.
I recently did a simple quilt for a niece, squares of small black and white patterns, arranged checkerboard like, but sashed with bright aqua. It was lovely.
Sounds beautiful ❤️
Great idea.....thanks for sharing
Very cute.
I love it! The apliqué is beautiful 😊
I've done water color effects to make the front pieces of vests. I didn't know that pattern had a name! I had the pattern meet at the B inner section of each piece. They came out beautiful! I've also been very creative for the back piece. I used black/ grey bias tape to finish them.
Sounds beautiful
I have seen a watercolor quilt but never knew wat the style was called. It's a piano quilt kit that someone pieced for a friend of mine. Great job on yours its very sweet and pretty!
Thank you 😁
Super cool ! Love it 😍😍😍🫶

I hope that you never run out of scraps!

Lovely xx❤️❤️
I'm sorry but I didn't notice what size you cut your little blocks. It's a beautiful project .
Hi. It's 2.5 inches 😄
Love it🎉
I'm always looking for new quilt patterns and techniques, i don't think I have made the same quilt twice.
That's awesome! How do you search for your next pattern?
@@seweasybysandy just found you, and starting out. Could you please tell me what you would use this mini quilt for? Thank you.
@@freespirit3891 hi, welcome. Well, this one I put it on my wall as decoration. It could also be a mini placemat or a hot pad or a mugrug.
But you can actually make this in any size you want, just make more squares or bigger ones and you're good to go!
Cute
I love this 😊
By the way I started watching your videos month ago and what I like about you is the simple way and beautiful patterns you make.I watched hundreds of videos but I understand yours better thanks for your efforts
My name is abla from Saudi Arabia and new in sewing and quilting 🤗
How would you put together one square large square to another before binding? To make a larger quilt.
Hi. Do you mean in quilt as you go? I find the best way is to sew the top right sides together and the.backing sew it by hand so I'll be able to hide the seam. I have a video about that I made in September I think where I explain the ways to sew quilt as.you go squares together without any seams showing.
Sandy do you have a template for the cute fish?
Hi. Sorry, I don't. I drew them directly onto the fabric
How were the corners done?
What do you mind? The binding mitered corners?
Thanks. I should have waited for your answer but I made my own square but didn't add anything like the fish. I messed up the corners but it's not bad for my first time
@@juliesmith2970 I'm sure it's the cutest thing, the first of many! I hope you had fun 😀
@@seweasybysandy thank you!
