    Digital stenciling deserves its own video. I really do appreciate your video though. I just cerakoted an M1A magazine and I used female patterns. I made my own patterns in Photoshop and then made an PNG to be used in Design Space for my Cricut. Halfway through I was thinking about how I could use the male patterns because my finished product could definitely be better. My patterns don't flow as good as yours. My patterns are solid, it's just the way I did it that I don't like. The color and material looks fantastic though. I sand blasted at work and then brought it home to my apartment. I cleaned out my Masterbuilt Smoker completely to give me more space and it's perfect. I used an 8 gallon air compressor from Lowes, the quiet comfort or whatever it's called with the same air brush as you. That airbrush is perfect for Cerakote because I see so many people with HLPV spray guns and they just waste so much paint it's nuts. This little airbrush can push a ton of paint through if you needed but I got mine dialed waaaay back to barely push paint. Lets me get more precise. Not sure if you had to bake duracoat but I fucked up by not letting it cool down and some paint peeled off when I pulled the stencil off. I'll try the male method next time cause I'm a perfectionist and this is bothering me

    Gone are the days of throwing a leaf on the stock and blasting the olé rattle can. Digital patterns have been proven to work best, and darker color scheme as well. Dropping large $ on a riffle build should have have a good finishing touch, regardless of it’s toolbox function out there. Thanks for the attention to detailed video,,,,,,,

    That came out great man , I’m almost finished with my charger 22 build . Are you doing a form 1 for the SBR stamp ?
    Also which stock is that ? Looks great 👍🏻

      Yes it is a Form 1 SBR. AGP Arms stock. It is a blem from the first batch they ever did I think. I couldn't tell anything wrong with it.

    I’m just getting into using stencils, I’ve done solid cerakote jobs. But for some reason I’m a little nervous or overwhelmed by it. You do great work though. How much practice or long have you been doing stencil work?

    • @skidmorecreek6267
      @skidmorecreek6267  Před 2 lety +1

      I've done it just a few times. It's not hard- just practice before you do something you care about. Different materials and smooth vs rougher surfaces will change the results. Just keep that in mind. Don't get discouraged if some practice pieces don't come out well. Sometimes it's trial and error

    I wasn’t able to comment on the engraver video. Do all these machines that look exactly a like perform the same? I was wanting to get the 200 x 300 mm machine. Does it just do letters and numbers or can It do patterns? Thanks in advance for your help.

      The one in the video is the only one I've used, so I don't know. I only used the text function, so not sure on the patterns.

    About how long do you wait between put on stencils and spraying additional coats. Thanks

      I did 2 colors a day- one in the morning and one in the evening. That gives it enough time to dry and apply stencils.

    Did you get 4oz of each paint? Did you have any extra?

    • @skidmorecreek6267
      @skidmorecreek6267  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, I think they were 4 oz bottles. It was pushing it doing this many pieces

    Don’t understand the blue tape stenciled it looks like there isn’t/ design all way thru it, looks like blue tape stuck to a stencil. Do you cut the design out in the blue tape? That kinda threw me off, rest I understand I’ve done several myself I can’t post pics nor do I know how to make a video abs post it in utube or I would do one. Don’t hv a lot of money to spend on video equipment that’s another hobby and my wife bitching about all the hobbies I’m doing now lol
    Always wondered about air dry duracoat I use cerakote and hv to bake it on. Just seems like it would be better than air dry wonder how air dry holds up to cerakote? Only thing I don’t bake are optics great vid a few things I couldn’t understand like the name of other stencils otherwise good vid bud

      Some the blue stencils are a different brand, so they look like solid blue tape. The yellow stencils with blue tape are to protect from overspray. I'm always budget minded as well- I film with a phone and made a stand for it out of scrap wood to film with. Same reason for repurposing the small stencils as female stencils- don't have to buy as many sets. I don't abuse my things, so air dry Duracoat works well. I have had others Cerakoted to hold up to field abuse when needed. I do Duracoat on designs I want to do myself
