  • Tested with small square and found base is not perpendicular spirit level side
Also placed on a table on it's side and spun 180 degrees the bubble should be stay in same position. For example if edge of bubble is right on left line when it is spun 180 degrees the edge of bubble should still be on the left line.

Hi. This level spirit is designed for installation in the camera on a special holder. The remaining sides of the cube are not intended for measurement and are very inaccurate.

This cube bubble spirit level isn't accurate on or off the camera on all 3 axis. Here's a link to a video czcams.com/video/GBMPcuom15Y/video.html with the cube on the camera comparing it to the camera built in level and also showing the bubble shifts position fitted the two possible ways on the camera hot shoe. Even placing this cube base on a level table the bubble is not showing level
A well designed bubble cube spirit level will be accurate on and off the camera hot shoe. As a cube by definition has 6 square faces and three squares around each vertex. So if the 3 bubble chambers in the cube were parallel and perpendicular to the cube base where it is mounted to the camera hot shoe and gave a accurate reading it would naturally also be accurate using any of the other 5 sides of the cube. As this cube is deformed not being a regular hexahedron, it is unusable even the feet on the cube which slides into the camera hot shoe are different thickness.

I have 4 such cubes and had a similar impression at the beginning. One is not very accurate but not bad, the other work properly only on holders that the producer predicted. Make sure the surface on which the cube lies is leveled properly. Use another spirit level to check. In my case it helped.

Yes, I have found these to be totally useless too. Add movement in the hot shoe to the above flaw.

The bubbles on the spirit didn't match either, rotating the spirit level around to compare bubbles the bubble position moves making this device unless if trying to level the camera. Here,s a video I did with the spirit level on my camera comparing it to the cameras digital level czcams.com/video/GBMPcuom15Y/video.html. Even rotating the level 180 degrees in the hot shoe the bubble moved to a different position as the spirit levels lugs that go into the hot shoe at not the exact same thickness. I purchased the spirit level on Trademe. I now use two level I have on my tripod, they match the digital level in the camera.

i just saw your video using the DSLR to measure spirit level's accuracy...and well, honestly for me, the spirit is very far from accurate.. and the bad news...i ve just purchased one (before i saw this channel) from china...now i ve known my spirit will be totally useless... -_- anyway thanks for uploading the video

So they're a total waste of money

Yes this spirit level is useless, the different bubbles on the spirit level don't even match, the lugs that go into the camera hotshoe are different thickness as rotating the spirit level 180 degrees the bubble moves to a different position. Can be seen in this 2nd video czcams.com/video/GBMPcuom15Y/video.html

Thanks. Just saved some money. Something so simple to manufacture shouldn't be so flawed.
