This is perfect! As an intermediate/somewhat advanced guitar player, I have the 'chops' to play this, but my ear is seriously underdeveloped, (I grew up with tabs spelling it out, hey, I can admit it). I see a lot of people in the comments section demanding 'tabs', but in my opinion, they're creating their own handicaps. No shame, I've done it for years, but the more you rely on that crutch of tabs and established patterns, the more you limit yourself. This is an epic acoustic solo, but in the grand scheme of things, it's really not all that fast. This is the type of solo to be learned by ear... because it's tasteful and manageable. I love how once you get into it, Stephen rarely plays on the the "One". I understand needing tablature for a Joe Satriani solo... but this is an excellent lesson, take the 2 hrs to dissect each part, because the guy playing it has it down perfect. Watch, listen, play (slowly). It's the only way.
still on of the best tutorial of this solo on youtube. thank you!
Dude u r amazing... Never thought anyone will make a detailed lesson on this and that too an indian.. You have come a long way since ur first video.. Way to go
"It's a feel thing"
bro your playing is really good n i dont mind the guided tutorial, but i would've really appreciated had you included a portion of the entire solo with a lower tempo.
Great tutorial. I noticed one change makes it a bit better. At the very beginning, instead of hammering onto the 5th fret twice, if you slide from the 3rd to the 5th for the first time instead, it sounds better and closer to the original overall.
Lovely Tutorial! Thanks Da , wanted to learn this solo since so long and this really helped! 🙏🏾
wow!! That needed a lot of patience on your end.
Wow.. stunning skills!

Can you make a video on how to play trains and time flies by porcupine tree. It would help a lot
can you provide a tab to the lesson?
it would be very helpful.
Thanks!
Very nice
really like your lesson
can you please give me a tutorial of "open car by Porcupine tree" in acoustic guitar .... please
Nice
awesome Holmes....great tutorial. I would be really grateful to you if you could help me with a query....I have been playing guitar for a year and a half and can play opeth and p.t songs. I am lost since I don't have a plan to further hone my guitar skills. Another thing does music theory really help.....thanks in advance ...much love
+ramandeep singh Theory is such a misunderstood term.Theory is never complete without practicals. So without theory no one can go beyond a certain limit and i feel even those amazing guitar players who never learned guitar, unknowingly use the notes that theory teaches thus its always better to be aware of what you are doing.Once you know the rules then its easy to break as well in order to have your signature sound. This is my point of view,im not the best thus i am not open to any arguments..
I can provide you a guideline if you are not aware..watch the vid below..

Sure..that is my ideology..to go with the feel....but still there is so much to know....for example I may not know jazz chords because of their intricate complexity....same goes with any other technique....I simple wanted to know whether practicing different songs is the best way to learn guitar.....thank you...and you are a great teacher by the way....learnt the trains solo!
Is it he same solo tunning of the ambient version?
tabs would be really helpful, tam
Just put tabs along with it. Jesus this was hard to follow at times.
This was a really good video.. That guy is literally breaking down the Riff into so many parts that too with a slow play along. Gosh just pick it up by ear man. Tabs for such an easy solo? 🤷🏻♂️
Nope you are just very impatient . Don't pass the bucket .
Jesus is hard to follow.
what guitar are you using?
Cort I think
Good video but very frustrating because your bright white shirt is camouflaging with the pause button >.
is this solo in standard tuning?
Is there any way you can give me tabs?
he looks like the bassist of PT.
just give us the tabs ffs
Have you ever seen a program called '' google '' ?
