I recently got my 2nd beagle puppy 2 weeks ago. My first beagle had terrible anxiety. He’d throw up due to the stress and at times even faint because of the anxiety. This was the norm every time we stepped out.. well he hasn’t done this since our 2nd beagle. We’ve seen such a positive change in him, he seems even more in control of himself.
We had a two year old male Beagle and were asked to rescue the same age female Beagle. I never considered whether they would get along, but after only a few days, they were becoming deep friends. For us, two beagles of opposite sexes was a good decision. They each have different personalities, but also tag team the humans quite frequently for play time or treats. We had never had two Beagles at once before, but i wouldn't have it any other way now.
My wife bought a beagle 2 yrs ago & he is the softest, most needy dog I’ve ever had. He hates being alone & im going to try to borrow the neighbor’s beagle to leave with him during work hours…to see if this makes him more emotionally stable.

@Kyle Chen Yes. I assure you this will stop as he grows. A way to prevent this is by giving him a toy. Meaning that when he is biting re-direct his biting to the toy and not to you. Let me know if this helps. I tried it and it worked for my beagle. Sorry if it doesn't work.
We got a brother and sister 2 years ago, which was great! They are best buddies, for sure. Love having them so much, we went back to the same breeder and got another. Same daddy as the first 2. Now, having 3 - it sounds weird - but we should have gotten another (making it 4 beagles!?) The 2 yr old, and 6 mo old boys have so much fun together, Piper (our girl) feels left out. If we get another, it’ll definitely be another girl - and a lot more land. And I wish they made beds larger than a king LOL

I would worry about two beagles fighting for my attention, see they are such attention hogs. My girl is not mean about it, but does not like the Maltese around me. But we have been working on sharing. Going pretty good actually.
One of the biggest reasons not to get a second beagle-twice the hair! I love my rescue beagle, but he sheds like a demon. Beagles have two layers of hair, so they constantly shed. I have wood floors, and at the end of each day have a thick coating of hair on the floor.

I walk my 2 yr old female, Sloopy, a combined 4 miles a day in two different walks, just to keep her on an even keel energy wise. She can pull like a bloodhound and we move at a rapid pace. There is no way I could walk two, it would be a goat rodeo of tangled leashes and skinned knees. You don't walk hounds, you handle them. Unless you live on a ranch or have help walking and training, one is plenty. Just my two cents, but I've seen too many people get beagles and be overwhelmed by the amount of time and commitment they require. Their small, their cute but they are flat out hound dogs!
Yes they are better in groups because the Britishers used to make them hunt in packs Also I have beagle and she is 8 weeks old she is biting me and now it really hurts we took her to the vet and they said no treats or anything now because her digestive system is not that great so how can I teach her
I want a beagle but there are some days, not all days, during the week where I'm out of the house for a long time and I know that's not good for beagles. So is there a way I could train a beagle to get used to it or should I not get a beagle. I might be able to get someone to watch it but I know if I can't it wouldn't be happy on the days I'm not there
I wouldn’t do it if you’re going to be away from home a lot. Unless you have another dog who would get along with the beagle. Beagles are REALLY hard to train. They need lots of attention and play time. Also they get separation anxiety. My beagle is 6 months and technically he’s fully house trained. But if I’m cleaning around the house and not paying attention to him, even with two other dogs who are crazy pit bulls, he still pees when I’m not around.
All dogs are different, my beagle wants nothing to do with other dogs other than a quick sniff in passing, and even gets jealous anytime another dog gets any attention. My dog is well behaved, non-destructive and not aggressive. She spent the first two yrs of her life in a med lab. She was easy to train even though she was basically grown before any training started or even had a name. She is not the overly affectionate dog beagles are supposed to be, she cuddles and snuggles on her own terms not on anyone elses. Make sure you know your beagle before you accept any generalizations as true. Every dog is different.

Beagles are food motivated that's a big win. Also they have tender feelings, yelling does nothing but make them avoid you. Also beagles are ADD dogs thier attention span is about that of a gnat so it takes time. If you haven't owned or trained dogs before I would suggest finding a good trainer to at least get things started.
We have two females who are great dogs but...periodically maybe every 6 months they get in a pretty good scrap over food or dominance or whatever...not fun!!!
