- 2006 Nissan Pathfinder LE Oil Change and Oil Pressure Sensor Repair
I originally purchased a cheap eBay Oil Pressure Sensor for about $20 and regretted it. This is the second bad oil pressure sensor I purchased from eBay and ended up buying a genuine Nissan one afterwards that worked as expected.
Video is broken in a few parts:
1) Oil Change (1:20)
2) Oil Pressure Sensor Replacement (11:20)
3) Bad Oil Pressure Sensor Result (19:44)
4) BONUS Blooper (23:39)
WOW, I just put in a ebay sensor and oil pressure was low and light came on also. I was in panic mode for like 4 hours until i seen you got screwed with 2 crapy sensors also. Thank you for posting
Teflon added backwards. Need to put on clockwise
Thank you for being detailed.
Same here, had same issue, saw your video. Fix it. Helpful video. Thumbs up
Hope this is my problem. Dealing with this exact scenario right now. Thanks for the video to give me hope.
Same
@@soshamike1718 I for sure got a bad sensor off eBay and bought the scittco brand one off Amazon and it fixed the low pressure reading.
The first sensor was correct. Nissan changed the sensor so it will always show mid range pressure. In other words dealers were tired of getting owners complains about the low pressure level and Nissan made a dummy pressure gauge to stop the complains.
Felicidades por tu video y paciencia en tu demostración y enseñanza
Muy util tu información
No need to add oil to the filter. I also changed my oil pressure sensor but you can crack the oil pan unless you torque it right according to the specs
the moral of the story is if your sensor is dirty clean it first before you attempt to remove- unless you like getting dirt back in your engine
I just bought a 06 pathfinder v6 today with the same issue, I'm hoping that's all it is, i wasn't sure where to find the sending unit. But now I do!!! Your video was incredibly helpful. THANK YOU. a mile from getting it home from the dealership the check engine light came on. I was planning on pickup up a sending unit on my way home anyway, so I swung by the Zone, and pulled the codes. Completely unrelated. p0420 p0430 for both cats, and p-(12)?--11, timing issue, camshaft. Shady dealer. He even mentioned disconnecting the battery to reset the light when I asked him about the Oil Pressure being pegged at High.. DEAD GIVEAWAY, but I missed that flag. Least to say, I was PISSED when I pulled the codes. How can I tell if I only need to replace the O2 sensors, vs both cats, or are there four? What are your thoughts?
You would hook up a high end scanner and watch the upstream and downstream o2 sensors and compare the 2. If they are doing the same thing your cat isn't working. You could also put a 5 gas analyzer in your exhaust and see if it is or isn't burning off excess CO and HC and converting it into CO2. The ecu in these cars is usually smart enough to know if it's a cat or a sensor, unfortunately it's probably your cat.
Do you need to drain the oil if you’re only replacing the sensor pressor?
YES or no ?? I'm about to do this
@@Vgk36 Yes you do. Otherwise oil will come out throw the hole where the pressure sensor screws in.
I think the first sensor was good they are made to fluctuate with RPMS, the oil pump is mechanical not electric so it is driven by the engine that is why it changes with higher RPMS.
Hi I have a 06 pathfinder preassure was fine all of a sudden when hot needle started to drop and go up been like that for about 2 years now. I change the oil every 5000km. When accelerating normal pressure when at idle dropped. Today it started dropping lower and oil light would come on for a sec or 2 then off when going again. No leaks noticed under the truck. Any advice? Weather is also hotter than usual about 38 degrees Celsius. Could it be oil screen clog?
Same issue, lose oil pressure at idle and pressure builds as rpms climb. Bout to replace to oil pressure sensor
Good video. ALL of the mechanic repair videos I have seen, No one has a hands free camera device (gopro etc.) I would like to see the full un-cut repair. No offense, I like your repair video. Thanks for sharing.
Can I reemplace the oil pressure sensor without changing the oil
Does a oil shindig unit cause a light to come on.
Did you end up not going with Teflon tape and the gasket maker, and also the spec sheet said 4-1/2 on the oil?
I bought two cheaper sensors for 2006 pathfinder and because I thought me oil galley gaskets were bad I spent 1000 dollars replacing them. Still didn't fix it, all it was was a bad oil sensor, make sure you replace me year and exact match because each year is different
Did the faulty sensor/switch ever cause the "service engine soon" light to come on? I have an SES light that I've cleared twice and continues to return, wondering if my faulty sensor (marks high pressure) is the cause of it. Replacing the sensor tomorrow, so hoping that's the issue.
Amazing phone filter btw lol the easiest way to never have something go wrong is to never do something lol but life ia a adventure and we need to do things for our self!! Here's to you fellow bloody knuckle wrench turners!!
That last bit was great.
Thanks brother
Does a oil shindig unit cause a light on.
I have a 2.4 liter engine light is on can a sinsor cause a light to come on.
Very nice video. Thanks 😊
having the same issue. bought What I thought was a genuine part off EBAy and it reads low.
how much it cost?
Note. the 05's had a gauge that showed the exact pressure. so it fluctuated. I.e. , when at idle the needle would drop and then pick up when the rpm's were raised. They changed it to a fixed gauge in 06 or 07. So, if you have the earlier model, the needle will drop down a good ways at idle, this is normal. But, if it gets too low the oil light will come on.
I bough one for my Nissan fronteir 2006 I pay $90 something auto zone and went the truck is in park or neutral it stay down went I press gas it go up you think is normal to?
same here i bought an oem nissan sensor and its doin gthe same thing..when i hit the gas it goes up when i stop it shows low
I did the same thing, bought 3 different
Faulty sensors, spent 1000 dollars on new timing gaskets, still didn't fix the oil pressure and then got the correct sensor which I bought to match my 2006 model year and its been fine since last summer. What a headache, nissan sucka
We’re did you bought the sensor?
Bro I just spent 800$ in labor to a mechanic to changed the oil pump water pump timing chain and a gasket and my 06 Nissan frontier still showing low oil pressure my dad told me he changed the sensors like 3 times 2 sensors from Amazon and 1 sensor from oreilys so I’m not sure if I should buy 1 from Nissan or what to do
Having this issue along with burning oil, could be cause by sensor ?
Do you have to drain the oil to replace the oil pressure gauge sensor or can you only replace the sensor and have a normal amount of oil leakage like you experienced
It will leak alot of oil unless you do it fast , for me since I drained it first it took me about 1 minute to screw it back since its in a short space place
No, if you jack up or drive the a ramp on the passenger side of the vehicle.
My pathfinder has a similar issue - but it fluctuates depending on idle ... might it be the same problem?
My xterra had a fluctuating gauge once. It usually means its due for an oil change.
Same problem except oil is still gold... lmk on that one
Yo tengo el mismo problema con mi Nissan frontier 2006
$110!! WTF! I just bought one for my 08 Infiniti g35, and it was $25 at the dealer
It's not even hot yet let it warm up completely it will drop and oil will come on
Smh ebay got another one!!
Thanks for the times!
I stay away from eBay parts they are fake. I had bad experience. Atleast you can return fake parts to auto zone if u buy from them
Full gasoline tank....😳
