      Forty Years in Training
      Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors-the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob-has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.
      -Exodus 3:15
      Moses was stunned, to say the least. He thought he was done. He had been living in relative obscurity, thinking he would never do much again. After all, he hadn’t heard from God for forty years. But suddenly one day God was speaking to him from a burning bush.
      What Moses didn’t realize was that God had been preparing him all that time. By watching a little flock of sheep, he was in training to lead a human flock, numbering over two million, to freedom.
      So there he was, standing before a burning bush. Moses had spent a lot of time in the wilderness. He saw a lot of tumbleweeds. He watched bushes catch fire and burn out. But this one was different. It continued to burn yet did not dissipate.
      Something ordinary was doing an extraordinary thing. In other words, God was doing something to get Moses’ attention. And then He spoke.
      God told Moses that He had seen the suffering of His people, and He was appointing Moses to go to Pharaoh and take the Hebrews to freedom.
      Moses was an older man by that time. He was seasoned. Wiser.
      In effect God was saying to him, “Moses, look at that old bush. Do you see how it keeps burning? That is what I’m going to do with you. You will continue burning until My purpose is accomplished. Are you up for that?”
      God told him, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors-the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob-has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations”
      (Exodus 3:15)
      We tend to look at these men through rose-colored glasses. Abraham had his lapses of faith, as did Jacob. Yet God was saying, “I am the God of men who have failed. I am the God of ordinary people who have accomplished extraordinary things. There is hope for you. I’m not only the God of Abraham. I’m not only the God of Isaac and Jacob. I am the God of Moses.”
      He was calling Moses and giving him a second chance. He had been seasoning Moses and getting him ready for what was ahead. Moses didn’t know when he woke up that day that his life would change forever. It came unexpectedly.
      When something out of the ordinary happens in our lives, it may be the Lord trying to speak to us. When we have an unexpected change of plans, when something we weren’t preparing for happens, we think it’s the worst thing.
      Maybe something like this has happened to you recently. There has been a change in your plans. You wonder what’s going on. Maybe the Lord is trying to get your attention.
      It just might be the hand of God trying to say something or direct you in a certain way. And what may seem like a coincidence actually may be Providence. Disappointment is His appointment.

    PSA here's a comment dooby left because meal preps can only last 4 DAYS in the fridge and rice shouldn't be eaten after 2 DAYS old: "I couldn’t fit in all in one video for the freezing part sorry!
    For soups and stews they freeze incredibly well. I usually divide them out into individual portions and freeze it for quick meals. Meats I usually end up finishing pretty quickly since I don’t prep too much of it, but another good way is to let it marinate overnight; then portioning out and freezing so meat has time to absorb the sauces & be tenderized.
    Rice as well, i usually do half in fridge to finish within 3-4 days and rest in the freezer.
    Broccoli and fresh veggies I don’t freeze since I finish everything. Eggs usually last 1 week since it’s high sodium and pickled. Kimchi lasts months when stored in the fridge."

      You can keep rice until it smells off or there's weird shit on it. It's way longer than 2 days as long as you don't cover it with the lid entirely, especially in the fridge. Unless it's disgusting, 4 days is perfectly attainable.

    To all the "not asians": make your own Kimchi!!! It lasts for month, it's so tasty, healthy and cheap. Fast Food: Rice +Kimchi - yummi.Don't worry to buy the strange ingrediants. They stay good for many month and are basics, not only for korean kitchen.
    When you live in a country with a long cold winter, the "fresh" greens often don't keep their promise. Don't hasitate to choose frozen vegetables. Healthy, no dirt, no prep time. Just prepare your meat and sauce dishes, freeze them as needed. Have the veggies cooked while you heat up your sauce. I prepare veggies for 2 or 3 days, when I need a lunch "to go". Thanks Dooby for sharing this.

    I live alone and it’s sooo difficult for me to use up ingredients in my fridge before they go bad. This is a good introduction to meal prepping for people who enjoy not eating the same thing everyday. Thank you so much!! Korean ingredients are not easily accessible and expensive where I live right now but this is so easy to tweak to cuisines I’m used to cooking and to what is available around me 😁

      rice, marinated chicken, broccoli and jajang sauce can def be frozen for the second week. Kimchi is preserved by nature. The rest I would say probably should be finished within the first week.

      You should keep rice for max 2 days, as far as I know Koreans usually freeze their batch cooked rice and then reheat it.
      You can freeze most of what she made, and I wouldn't keep uncooked meats for more than a day or two, it's always better to freeze what you won't immediately need.
      The pickles/kimchi can keep in the fridge for weeks though.

    I've been meal prepping for about 1 year as a student, great video by dooby but I don't think it's really practical to meal prep so much at one go. A great tip is also freeze some portions since it wont be fresh to just be refrigerated for 2 weeks!

    • @yulikhoo1891
      @yulikhoo1891 Před 6 měsíci

      Hey!! i don't follow any channels in particular for meal prepping, my recipes are purely the food I am craving for and feel like eating! you can almost meal prep literally everything. I make my meals less boring by making 2 recipes to mix and match every week, sometimes I'll make extra for the 2nd week which I would freeze them so I will have even more choices for the next week. Hope this helps!@@zeynepduysak7931

    • @Jabberwocky869
      @Jabberwocky869 Před 6 měsíci +5

      Yeah, two weeks is a stretch for most prepared foods. I always meal prep for one week. Though soups and sauces, bread, shredded cheese, stock, a lot of vegetables and fruits can easily be frozen. Soups kept in the fridge should be boiled again after 3-4 days. Meal prep cooked grains, rice or pasta for no longer than 2-3 days; it doesn't take much time and definitely tastes better fresh. Fermented food can keep for 2 weeks in the fridge.

    • @chrissynickel
      @chrissynickel Před 6 měsíci +1

      I feel like the only things she prepped that absolutely couldn't go two weeks would be the eggs and chicken. The fermented style can probably go longer. Rice miiiight be questionable without freezing just because of its potential for bacteria.

    • @Doobydobap
      @Doobydobap  Před 6 měsíci +13

      I couldn’t fit in all in one video for the freezing part sorry!
Kimchi lasts months when stored in the fridge.
      Hope this helps!!

    Thanks for your intro on Korean meal prep. Definitely going to give it a try. Just want to ask about storage ... typically tofu don't keep well & turn sour in a couple of days, they also don't freeze well as it turns rubbery when defrosted. What would you recommend??

      When Koreans say they keep their cooked rice in the fridge that means in the frozen section.Such a well-known nationwide hack.. reheat frozen rice in the microwave, as it can actually reduce the amount of carbs absorbed by your body and prevent blood sugar levels from spiking. Plus, the rice tastes as if it has just been cooked for sure.

    • @mattie3897
      @mattie3897 Před 21 dnem

      Turkey bacon is fine, but the better one to use would be beef bacon. Pork and beef bacon are both made from the belly portions of the animal, so they're more similar to one another than turkey bacon is, which is made with ground up turkey meat.
