The problem with food in the US is that it has been modified, added preservatives, sprayed with pesticides so it can last a long time on the shelves. Once you travel abroad in Europe and Latin America. The food is tasty, the fruit is not as sweet as the American ones, and the vegetables have more flavor and are fresher. The same goes with meat, seafood, chicken and others. The size of the chicken is half the size of the US chicken, I'm sure those chickens were fed with grow hormones to grow fast

I have ironclad rules for myself when it comes to fruits/juices, sugars of ALL kinds, and ALL processed foods. I don't go NEAR them!! I eat only grass-feed meat, pasture-raised chicken and eggs, and low carb frozen vegetables (since produce aisle vegetables have lost a lot of their nutrients by sitting around too long) that I prepare myself... which means I never eat out. If a food comes in a box, carton, can, jar, or other package and the ingredients list is not one or 2 items that are proven to be good for you, you shouldn't eat it. How many people do you know with rules like this? That's how many people you know who are healthy.

I'm 58, 6'2, and weighed a whopping 264 lbs back in October of 2023. My body was riddled with osteoarthritis, and I've recently endured three major reconstruction surgeries as a result of it, two spinal fusions, and a partial left shoulder replacement. I also have a bad right knee that's bone on bone that the doc says will eventually require surgery. I've had to have five teeth pulled due to gum disease that no matter how much i brushed, flossed, rinsed, dental pic, etc. I just couldn't seem to get on top of the problem. I was a hot mess and fading fast. I heard about the carnivore /keto diet last September and decided to give it a go. I also stopped eating out as often, no alcohol, moderate exercise. Long story short, I've lost 36 lbs since October and feel great! I've got another 30 to go, and there's no doubt that I'll get there. My gum disease all but vanished, and my arthritis is not as big a problem as before. I still have to take the occasional
Tylenol/ibuprofen cocktail for pain, but nothing like before. The best part about this diet is that it's not really a diet at all. I would consider it an elimination diet to be more accurate. You can eat as much as you want. I never really feel hungry anymore. I could go on and on about the benefits of carnivore/keto and how it saved my life. I've read hundreds of cases of people with stories similar to my own. So, check it out if you haven't already!

Doc, I'm so happy you made a video like this! I've been watching and reading other doctors in the last 15 months since I had heart attack, 2 stents, learnt I was diabetic type 2, had essential hypertension and a 19 x 25 mm tumor in my right side temple. In 7 months following this same information, without pills, I dropped over 90 pounds (from 108 kg to 68 kg now), cured completely my diabetes, my A1c from 10.4 is now 5.3 - some months even 4.7, fasting insulin from 11 to 1.64 to 2.60 (trying to keep it under 3), CRP 0.3 to 1 (I do extensive blood tests with many other markers every single month on the same date), cured completely my hypertension, and surprisingly cured completely the tumor (this happened after my second 5 day water fast - autophagy at play I guess). And I'm keeping these results for 7 to 8 months already.
Right in the hospital I decided I won't follow the pharmaceutical medicine and instead I'd turn to holistic medicine, and that's how I landed in the keto diet camp, the intermittent fasting and the occasional extended water fasts. I stopped all wheat and sugar products right after hospital, and I watched my weight dropping like stone every week after week.
I hope, I'm almost certain, that my atherosclerosis is getting better with low carb high fat, intermittent fasting and extended water fasts (which I do bunch of them every month - from 36-48 hours to 10 days and anywhere in-between). I'm saving money to make the 3 tests - CT scan, CAC score, and carotid ultrasound. I stopped the statins 8-9 months ago, also the baby aspirin. Eat lots of omega 3 and other anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory fats and foods. I hope to prove my cardiologist wrong, he's still stuck in the cholesterol statin paradigm like almost all of them, not wanting to hear anything else about my health and about what doctors like you have to say like in this video.
Btw, your video about your atherosclerotic cure was among the first ones I stumbled on when I started self-educating myself and since then I watch your videos regularly. I keep reading books and articles by other like minded doctors like you, and watch videos of them speaking every single day for the past 15 months.
Thank you so much doc! God bless you and your family!!
Btw, I'm from Bulgaria :) I'm writing and quoting you often on my facebook page and people like it.

Fructose intolerant people may get NAFLD, and if not reverse, can lead to Steatohepatitis (NASH).

Most of those foods can be made healthy with proper limits & substitutions. We must think & learn the details. For example, steel-cut oats instead of oatmeal. Mostly understand that >1/2 of us 18 years & older have undiagnosed prediabetes. Given that, keep glycemic (processed) carbs to 100 gm/day. Then substitute or decrease the largest sources of glycemic carbs in that diet. It will usually be processed grain products.

The human body is extremely resilient, and in moderation and will be just fine. I guarantee you, we come in contact with elements deadlier than sugar, and our bodies corrects them unbeknownst to us every day all day long. MODERATION. Enjoy your life.

He didn’t really answer your question 🙋‍♀️ so I will try 🙂. Here’s what I eat. Meats (and any animal product) sourced from a local regenerative farm; French or Irish cheeses; low-oxalate, organic, non-GMO, whole, unprocessed plant products, such as squash (all varieties), cucumbers, lettuce, avocado, mushrooms, cabbage, olives, capers, nonsugary pickles, Granny Smith or other old-fashioned apples, berries, peaches, and apricots in season, sauerkraut in glass jars (read the label to ensure it doesn’t contain junk). Find einkorn flour (ancient wheat, non-GMO, low in gluten) in health food stores for very occasional baked goods. White rice occasionally. Make your own house vinaigrette, mayonnaise (use only the yolk), and tomato sauce. Eat only wild-caught fish. Oysters, sardines, crabmeat in cans are okay, but read the labels. Lemons, limes, apple cider vinegar, Redmond salt. Spices and dried herbs sparingly. Local honey, sparingly. High-quality dark chocolate (Lindt 85% has no soy lecithin). Keep unsweetened, whole-fat Greek yogurt and sour cream on hand. Use olive oil for salad dressing, not for cooking. Make your own tallow and lard. Eat nuts preferably packed in the shell still: pecans, walnuts, pistachios. Steer clear of peanuts and peanut butter.
I use the “carb manager” app to make sure I keep the carb intake to 20-50 grams/day. I also don’t have breakfast until 11 am and don’t eat past 6 pm whenever possible. Hope this helps! ❤

The sugars in fruits may be harmful if you're already eating a lot of ultra-processed junk food and refined carbs, but on their own they're pretty safe. It's also pretty much impossible to over eat on fruits. The thing about craving and people can't be eating just one slice of a fruit is a ridiculous statement because you can apply it about pretty much any food, like no one's eating just a slice of steak, or a single prawn.

As for fruits, I strongly disagree as well since all the scientific evidence we have suggests that eating whole fruits reduce the risk of chronic disease, including diabetes and NAFLD despite the sugar content, maybe because the low calorie density and fiber content, who knows.

I typically eat some raw mustard greens, turnips, etc in winter with my sardines. In summer I eat cucumbers, raw okra, raw greens...whatever I can get to grow. It will be a lot healthier if you make the yogurt yourself. It's super easy and you control what kind of milk to use. I use grass feed whole milk, and Bulgarian yogurt as a starter. No sugar or additives, only half a cup of starter for a gallon of milk:
1- heat up the milk to 180f be careful not to let burn at the bottom of the pot.
2- let the milk cool down to 115f.
3- Add the starter and mix it well to remover lumps from the starter.
4- pour it into glass jars ( I use 8 ounce jars) and close them tight.
5- place the jars in a warm place then cover them with a blanket for up to 8 hours. I let mine ferment for more than 12 hours because I like my yogurt tangy.
6- after you reach the desired taste and texture, put the jars into the fridge. Yogurt thickens as it cools down.
If you don't want to ferment it in glass jars, you have to use stainless steel pot.

      Honey is just what?
It happens to be the most natural and beneficial SWEETENER ever created by the Creator of the Galactic Heavens...And So if it's not "RAW HONEY" then you can say or make such a statement...The Almighty Creator of the Galactic Heavens doesn't make mistakes and according to the (Original BIBLICAL TEXT) Honey had a tremendous amount of benefits for humanity ... So a lot of what he's referring to is "I'm sure" processed foods because nothing created by the Creator of the Galactic Heavens for us to eat is harmful except for those things with man has added chemicals and so has been processed by man etc.etc etc...
How long did Adam live ? "900+yrs" And what was He eating? So over time men had changed the laws from its original state of affairs and things that were meant for our benefit...
But it's funny how people can change Things and it's funny how peoples Things can change...
Just like the biblical text has been changed from its original state of affairs to that of 3.000 differently CHANGED VERSIONS of the biblical text...
So who is to blame but one's own SELF who is not truly seeking to understand the reality of the Truth...
      So seek it out and

First I had an orange juice habit, by the gallon, until I realized (months into it) it was a full blown habit, then years later I tried kombucha, which became a daily habit which tore up my gut, oh the pain, finally, the light bulb went on, this stuff is not good for my gut. Its good you are featuring this because no one else is. Oh and bread, the constipating food for everybody. My Italian mother made bread like a sacrament. She knew I was chronically constipated and she would tell me that I had to think about having a bowel movement. Lord have mercy let God deal with her. I dont eat that or pasta any more. Everything is working. I drink water. I'll have a rare coke when out to eat. This is a good video people. Pay attention.

I'm a big fan of Fage Total 5% fat yoghurt. 3 grams of naturally occurring lactose sugar per 100 grams. I perhaps eat too much of this stuff. I have started making my own plain yoghurts, fermenting for 12 hours + to try and reduce lactose further. I do wonder if cheddar cheese may be a better option, but I feel better on yoghurt.

Be realistic. Who eats 6 tablespoons of honey in one sitting. That is not normal - a teaspoon in a herb tea. A quarter teaspoon to suck in the mouth for sore throats.
Do people know that in America it is very difficult to find honey. It is legal to call sugar syrup, honey.
I was totally with you until that point. bye

Be skeptical, use your analytical thinking skills, for example I am debunking the Homemade fruit smoothies , it retain their fiber content even after blending. However, the altered fiber structure can lead to quicker sugar absorption. Including protein or healthy fats in smoothies can help slow this absorption and improve satiety.

I was surprised that you did not include white rice with a GI in the 70's or 80's. Maybe because most Americans don't necessarily consider rice "healthy". Yet, the Japanese who seem pretty health conscious in most respects consume more white rice per capita than in the U.S. AND have a lower rate of diabetes AND have the longest life expectancy on earth (excluding Hong Kong and Macau which are not countries and could be expected to consume a lot of rice anyway). So my point is, it all seems to be a lot more complicated than just what the glycemic index of certain foods is.

    • @ownpetard8379

My guess would be that the Japanese consume far less sugar in their diets than many other cultures. They can tolerate the impact of rice.

Diabetes is on the rise in Japan. It’s one of the nations most affected by it. China, India and Pakistan also eat a lot of rice. They are also listed 1,2 and 3 of the countries with the most diabetes.

    • @LuisSanchez-cz6op
      @LuisSanchez-cz6op Před 3 měsíci

Yes, t2d is on the rise in those countries. Along with obesity. But you have to realize that it was not the case when traditional diets predominated. Most of the world is now being hit hard by giant corporations marketing ultra processed western junk food. I have no problem with Doc’s arguments in that respect. My problem is with his over simplification of food’s glycemic index. Another example: sweet potatoes. Normally considered healthy their glycemic index is 40-80 depending on preparation method. Healthy? Doc would have us believe that straight table sugar is better with a GI of 50.

Quick oats or quick-cooking oats are rolled oats that go through further processing to decrease cooking time. They're partially cooked by steaming and then rolled even thinner than old-fashioned oats ( 1 ). They cook within a few minutes and have a mild flavor and soft, mushy texture. "It's a common misconception that one type of oat is healthier than another," said Rizzo. "They are all actually identical in terms of their nutrition. The difference is how they are rolled and cut."

Almond milk is loaded with lectins 18:13

    • @shotelco
      @shotelco Před 3 měsíci

@@janealdinger2235 Let's be clear and FYI: Lectins are sugar-binding proteins that are found in many plant-based foods, including grains and legumes. There is little research on the effects of different lectins on human health, animal studies suggest that lectins may act as antinutrients, interfering with nutrient absorption and causing inflammation in some individuals. So for some, this "may" be a concern (I don't have that particular concern).
However, it’s important to note that not all lectins are bad, and many *plant-based foods* that contain lectins are also rich in beneficial nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Since I make my own Almond milk, I use fresh, raw, organic blanched almonds. Then blanch, rinse and blend them using 4:1 water:almonds. Strained via cheesecloth which removes remaining solids. This minimizes the lectin content in the almond milk anyway.
I use (about) 200 almonds per quart...primarily for the 64g protein and 3.75g dietary fiber, with just 16g carbs, which equates to about 8g plant protein + 11g of protein from the Yogurt + 7g of protein from the oat bran per serving (total 25g protein/16g simple carbs/12g fat). I calculate there are a maximum of TWO almonds (based on the protein indicated on the nutrition label) of any store-bought HALF-GALLON of Almond milk.

You can have rolled oats and soak them overnight and add what you like to them to taste better (like nuts and seeds and even a few berries) as long as they are not sugar-loaded. Also eggs are good for you. It may come as surprising to many but there is only a little more saturated fat in eggs per 100g as there is in avocados. And eggs have so many great nutrients in them - as do avocados.

My previous breakfast was three eggs, bacon, and whole milk. I had a blood test and ApoB was 170, which was too high. The only other item high was LDL-C at 220. I've been told that my plaque levels are at the 70% percentile level for my age (0% good, 100% bad), so my conclusion is I need to lower my ApoB and LDL-C in the next blood test in 6 months.
I'm searching for an alternative breakfast that lowers my cholesterol.
Maybe I just go to 2 egg whites and skim milk, or maybe there is a better breakfast. I'm trying to sift through all the information to find that out. I want to see the scientific studies.

Most salient content. Ahh…the oatmeal controversy. This food appears to be the most controversial food out there. I have settled into an oatmeal regiment that seems to work for me.
Start with 1/3 cup organic sprouted oats, soak in boiled water and drain. Add chia seeds, hemp hearts, almond butter, Ceylon cinnamon and top with blueberries. This concoction provides a nice balance of carbs, protein, fat, antioxidants and fiber. Thus slowing down the digestion of the carbs resulting in a more controlled glucose rise. Plus the added benefit of being satiated for hours.
