literally just become army last year and i'm 23 and i have never seen a fandom as organized and strategic (and philanthropic, diverse, widespread, etc..) as army in my entire lifetime.. it's really incredible. literally this fandom spans ages, language, ethnicities, countries, and BTS eras. its insanity
ofc there are going to be some toxic people in the fandom but i don't think they compare to the majority of the fandom. just recently ARMY has been making donations for COVID relief in India and organizing food drives/donations for the BTS meal promotion. the charity is unheard of and unmatched honestly and the fact that it is done without solicitation speaks volumes

That’s been my experience in Twitter and IG, yes. Absolutely. Not saying we are perfect as Army, but the majority is other fandoms trying to insult BTS, us defending them, then other fandoms playing the victim, a good portion is like that. I have seen a thread over and over again where an artist , doesn’t matter reaches #1 On BB, then instead of those stans celebrating the #1 of their fave artist, they start laughing how BtS is not #1 and how BTS success is inorganic and rather forced by bots ( referring to Army). So we , as army defend them, then the antis turn around and play the victim/woman/race/ you are meanie/ armies are toxic, etc. and then they hide or delete the tweet to start the cycle again when BB or the chart stats start tweeting how so and so has reached number one and thats how it goes the merry go round

in my opinion, armys aren't just powerful because of it's quantity. this fandom is very organized in so many ways and we listen to each other unlike other fandoms. we do have a lot of bad apples tho. but most of them just clap back to the haters, a lot are baby armys and 12 year olds.

The organization is unreal. When I started stanning BTS and then 'Butter' was released, I was quite surprised to see how ARMYs would send instructions to others on how to stream (this is information I didn't know I had needed). Plus, how to vote on the different awards the group was nominated for. Most of these awards I'd never heard of and wouldn't have known to vote if they hadn't passed the message along. And that is just the basic. Sometimes you hear of all the activities ARMYs are engaged in and for real, it makes you so proud to be part of such a fandom.
We may fight amongst ourselves, but when it comes to our boys, we band together like nothing else.

Egbe Nelly Lately I've been paying more attention to Western fandoms, too, and.. it's all the same. The toxic people are in every fandom, and they all behave in the same negative ways. It's almost an illness, honestly. I feel like it must be so unhealthy for the people who keep putting out so much conflict and negativity into the world. And we'd all be better off if we stopped blaming individual fandoms for such behavior, and just called out the behavior itself, no matter who's doing it. 💜
Recently, other fandoms were dragging BTS for being ambassadors of Mc Donalds. They were saying their favs were ambassadors of famous brands and etc. Karma came and hit them when BTS announced all 7 of them were ambassadors of Louis Vuitton (Which is the biggest fashion brand right now). They also teamed up with western fans when BTS “lost” the Grammy. They hate on Dynamite because of what it has achieved. However there are a lot of armys who are toxic, but most times people just call us toxic for fighting back and protecting BTS from them. I will say there are a lot of toxic armys who starts the fights and hate on other groups (they can’t handle criticism). I’m usually the one who stays on the side and only interferes when it’s necessary. Other than that, armys aren’t toxic unless u say something bad about BTS, we’re like family, we protect one another and wouldn’t want anyone being disrespectful and rude towards our family. You could say we’re like the overprotective siblings of all 7 members.

Most are amazing, most are lovely, most of ARMY are the kindest people you will ever find. But not all. Some are racist, colourist, classist, sexist etc, and some will definitely hate on other groups or idols to get a response or send death threats to people who they disagree with. (I dont mean dt that actually draw a response from companies, I’m talking dt on instagram, twitter that the artists or fans will see which may not contain a credible physical threat to their lives, but are still damn despicable and cruel). If we ignore these actions (which are done in the name of ARMY if not by actual ARMYs) then we can’t combat the stereotype and we will further the reputation of being toxic and blind to the community’s faults.
Hypothetically, if I sent you 1000 ARMY accounts, would you swear in your life that none of them have ever done a single ‘toxic’ thing in their life (including but not limited to hating on other artists, hating on other members of BTS, hating on other fans for opposing views, doxxing other fans, dt to other fans/artists, gaslighting people who fairly criticise BTS/ARMY etc) and that last one doesn’t include responding to hate.
I understand that people play the ‘ARMY is toxic’ card an awful lot. People also play the ‘Blinks are toxic’ card as well.
Some ARMYs are toxic, some Blinks are toxic. Some of every single large group of people are toxic. But most are nice and the nice ones are the reason i enjoy this fandom and respect people who enjoy other fandoms. I’m glad you have had god interactions with other ARMYs, a lot of people don’t. But Armies nowadays and even back then try to stay always educated on matters around them, because we don't want to be rude or hurt annyone 💜 I think that's the thing that makes us so "powerfull" and big - we just want to be a family and kind to eachother, I think we're one of the most nátuře fandoms out there (tho there's always ppl who act rude and literally hate on others without a normal reason and call themselves very proudly "ARMY" 😟)
I hope I answered ur questions and just to be sure, this is my opinion after being in this awesome family since 2018 only, I've never even had a chance to see how fandoms acted before that, I've never taken part in those "fandom wars" that were in 2014-16 etc.

The thing here is...some of the other kpop fandoms started acting very exclusive and defensive when BTS was on the come up because it caused competition with their favorite groups. They took their feelings out on BTS. Army were never intentionally as gruesome as some of the other fandoms but when things got personal there's only so much someone could take before they retaliate with that same energy. Fandoms started to clash with each other and it wasn't the prettiest of scenes. Fanwars spread out and then it got to a point where it was just ridiculous. Some other fandoms even try to catfish as army and pretend to be BTS fan accounts, to say some out-of-pocket shit and make us take the blame. They'll put all their efforts to make us look bad and insane, instead of towards helping their favorite artist grow within their career. They're also are the sasaengs which are stalker-like obsessed lunatic "fans" that will do anything for attention, we don't associate ourselves with them or tolerate that kind of behavior within the fandom. Some other fandoms actually try to be nice for the most part now but since ARMY are considered the "largest k-pop fandom" and the "face of the kpop community", despite not being a part of it, we get blamed for quite literally EVERYTHING, nowadays. So we just mind our own and try to get together with BTS and help each other succeed and be happy.
Just remind that toxic ppl is everywhere. But please remind too that there are still positive and
Open minded too. That ppl from others who said those things are jeloused and tried to uplift their own artist in wrong way. I'm an ARMY for a year now. Honestly, I'm not engaging in fan wars or being a toxic Army, But whenever I read hatred comments about BTS that's the time that I will defend them proving them don't try to mess with ARMYS!

Honestly I don’t even know why these kpop Stans even try to downgrade BTS. Just recently, they made tweets about how their faves have a partnership with famous fashion brands and BTS has a collab with McD and army did clap back at them saying they are musicians and not models, and also the fact that BTS has rejected many offers from these top brands and supported the small businesses instead due to covid, there have been many articles about it.
But exactly 2 days after that, Louis Vuitton announced their collab with BTS, all 7 of the members being the global ambassadors of LV. And now suddenly the entire kpop Twitter started saying that “I thought they were musicians”. Like there’s nothing that BTS has NOT given to us.
There is toxicity everywhere. There have been times where I was ashamed of ARMY, but honestly in this day and age it's hard to tell which comments are coming from true ARMY or Blinks or another fandom, and which are fake accounts just to start shit. The best that any ARMY can do is to stand up to the toxic ones in our own fandom because in the end the fandom represents their idols and BTS deserves better.
People tend to dwell on the negative aspect of the fandom but ignore the worldwide efforts of humanity constantly being made by ARMY who are trying to make the world a better place. There are so many under appreciated projects that can really show the positive influence that BTS is making.

I think you were spot on that ARMY don't do unprovoked shit. Sure, there is a subset of our fandom that is toxic on its own, that's bound to happen in any setting, but in my experience over the last 4 years or so, anything that ARMY have been involved in on a bigger scale was talking back to people. I can even give you the concrete example of Keemstar, that one drama youtuber, provoking us and then when people (obviously) retaliated, he took on the whole "see this is why you're so toxic and everyone hates you" attitude. It's all about freedom of speech until we talk back lmao.

Like srsly guys.... i personally don't get why there is reasons for fandoms to hate on one another other than jealousy. they are jealous that there is an artists out there getting more recognition and more awards than their artists. especially if bts was newer. the idols themselves are usually friends and like each other, there's no reasons for the fandoms to be at war. Like im a part of many fandoms including army, and i flipping love it when any of them achieve massive things! How hard is it to be happy for artists achievements! Like srsly?!
In my opinion, people call us toxic because we're protective over the boys, admittedly sometimes overly so. Since our fandom is successfully big and sincere, people really have nothing bad to talk about us. That's why they use the word 'toxic' and dismiss all the actual good things we have done, like charity work and education help 🤷♀️
BTS suffered enough in the beginning. Is it really toxic that we want to protect them having to experience anymore negativity? I don’t think so 🤷🏻♀️

Also, talking about other fandoms, there's always going to be bad apples in the bunch. I'm an ARMY, MOA (the group TXT), Engene (the group Enhypen), and an AROHA (the group ASTRO)
Astro and BTS are my top two groups, yet they're not nearly as well known as BTS. Btw you should totally react to their videos, just saying. Anyway, going back on track, there are bad ARMYs, bad Engenes, bad MOAs, bad AROHAs, and so on. The crazy crazy ones are called Sasaengs, but these idiots in this video are just.. well.. idiots and biased fuckers, no more than that.

BTS and BigHit die the right thing by taking the bad people to court and let the law handle it. Also writing songs and dishing those kind of people. They were/are dishing those people towards those people's bad behavior.
