My Message to Derrick Thank You 🙏 for all you done. I’ve remember the memories of Andre , Tom and Derrick in 2013 .There were only 3 members at that time. I still find it hilarious when Derrick though that Smash 4 leak of the Character menu was fake but of course it wasn’t. I think in all honest, your work was great and help the channel grow to a 50k channel to 1 million Subscribers channel. We are all going to miss you for all you done these 7 Years.
Summary on weapon fusion(including things that weren’t covered in this video)
- You start with one skill slot.
- Lv 5, 10 and 20 gives you an additional slot
- When you fuse a weapon into the next slot level (eg 9 going 10) it will inherit the skill from the first weapon you select.
- Fusing same skills will improve the skill level. When this happens, the skill will glow.
- Different skill types have different shapes. When you have 2-3 skills of the same shape on the weapon, it gives you a +5 attack bonus. When you have 4 skills of the same shape at level 20, it gives you a +15 bonus.
That’s about it

So, this video has some misinformation in it, to the point I'm dumbfounded this video was made without crosschecking with the HW discord, the reddit, or anywhere really, where there's been rather extensive testing with how the blacksmith works. I'll be correcting each bit of misinformation based on the order it shows up in the video.
1:10 The green number IS NOT adding to that attack stat of 34. The UI is very misleading in this regard. It's in fact, how much of the attack your weapon is getting from weapon skill matching bonuses. A pair of 2 skills gives +5, if you have two sets of 2 pairs, you get +10, and if you match all 4 skills you get a +15 (more on this later because it relates to another thing they got wrong). These values MIGHT increase as we get stronger weapons, but for now, a match 4 for a +15 is the highest we can get.
1:30 You got how skill matching works right but.....there are only four shapes. And diamonds isn't one of them. At least in the demo. There's spiked, square, circle, and hexagons
2:12 Another inaccuracy caused by not leveling a weapon to level 20. You get new slots at levels 5, 10, and 20. Not every 5 levels due to 15 being skipped over.
thank you
Got a link of a resource or wiki with the known skills so we can get cracking on planning out weapon builds?

If there's any way to directly message each other, I'd be happy to oblige. [Also thank you for the clarification since I'm trying to build up my weapons for once the game releases]
@Boe Jiden Gonna guess lvl 20 isn't the max lvl. I imagine higher tiers of weapons exist with a bigger max lvl. Or Hestu increases the slots as well as max lvl. too lil info to know what end game looks like.

I always thought it would be cool if you could use ores to craft your own weapons in BOTW. I guess this is the next best thing.
Thats just minecraft..
@@no-um2mk you must be new to games. Because there alot of RPGs, survival games, sandbox games, etc. which have weapon crafting. Genshin Impact ,Dragon Quest 11, Animal Crossing, ARK,... just to name a few well known examples.
No other game can't have crafting system, eh?
@@MegaKBang I liked weapon crafting best in Vagrant story. You'd find a weapon. And just dismantle into its parts of hint, blade and guard. And you'd use parts you took from a spear, sword and axe. And what type of weapon you got in the end is decided by these parts.
This sounds really cool! 😎
I feel like this means there will be a blacksmith in botw2. Hyped to say the least
Unlikely seeing as how the blacksmith is a carryover from the first Hyrule Warriors.
@@Super60429 it may be, but i still think there will be something similar in the sequel
I'd honestly love it if they'd add a blacksmithing feature similar to cooking where Link can craft his own weapons/armor.
It'd make sense especially if the weapon durability mechanic is still in BotW2.
But I'd still want unique weapons (like the Champion's weapons) and unique armor to be restricted to either plot progression or clothing/item shops.
@@_Just_Another_Guy the weapon durability system was absolutely ridiculous when it came to the master sword and the champion's weapons I'm fine with the weapons you got out in the world breaking but a weapon that was built by master smiths can break after a couple hits is absolutely ridiculous
@@petratyraanderson Those can likely be worked around similar to the Master Sword with a cool down timer where it doesn't break but just becomes temporarily unusable but still in your inventory.
Or they can just simply crank up the durability values for unique weapons so it lasts a really long time before breaking. They could even make them last longer than the Royal and Ancient weapons which already have super high durability (my Royal Claymore survived 2½ blight Ganon boss fights)
Here are some useful tips:
1: Weapons gain slots on levels 0, 5, 10, and 20.
2:There are 4 slots currently, with room for 2 more on the menu. Likely levels 40 and 80. (It doubles each time.)
3: 150% Fuse Bonus can't be passed between weapons BUT a 20 level one will offer level 20 with the 150% bonus.
4: Damage reduction bonus doesn't work well given we each heart appears to be 4 health. Also we can cook a better one.
5: Lizal weapons give Link a different base charged strong with more range but are lower in damage overall.
6: See a monster tree with their structure or a skull rock? BOMB IT. It destroys it, kills most things in it... and for trees drops the treasure so you can get it much faster. If the treasure falls in a weird position where attacks won't open it stand next to it an a prompt "Y to open" will pop up. While stationary press Y.
6: Link benefits well from most, Damage every 100 kills with his natural range is great. For regular enemies his 3 weak into strong into hold strong combo leaves him air born letting you get off more attacks and covers a great distance. His 4 weak into strong is the best combo to open weak points from what I've seen. His dash is pitifully weak unless you chain enemies in it for a time.
7: Impa benefits from most, Damage every 100 kills is great especially with her Dash Attack. (Play like this as a joke.) Her 2 weak strong gives her insane invulnerability frames. (Position well and you can detonate barrels safely) You're vulnerable at the end though and the controls will function based on her initial facing if you rotate the camera during this skill. You'll have to let go for a second to fix it. As Impa DODGE OUT OF STASIS. You can get your clones to attack and aren't locked in place anymore.
8: Zelda benefits from Attack Speed and Range. She is slow and lacks a lot of mobility. She also lacks a proper dash attack so you desperately need speed. She has difficulty dodging too because of how long her attacks lock her. Her 2 strong does seem to have invulnerability frames though if she gets far enough into it. Her slate bomb can be exited and it will automatically stay or move ahead based on the location. She can also manually detonate Magnesis and Stasis. Magnesis can open up the weak point immediately while Statis can open the stagger phase without waiting for it to end like Link/Impa do.
9: Hunt for the Korok seeds, you can do this at any point during mission 1. During mission 2 the best time to do this is after you activated 1/2 of the objectives when the threat is no longer chasing you. (Not specifying to avoid spoilers.) There is a notable area in the bottom right of mission 2 which only opens after clearing the Lizal arena in the bottom right. A rare blue rabbit which drops rupees if you can hit it from range appears there and the only Korok I'll spoil.
10: Make the following weapons
Link: 4x Range on a Lizal weapon. best range to capitalize on range.
Link: 4x Damage on 100 kills. This quickly builds up damage on major missions where weapon choice matters
Link: 2x Monster part drop, 2x Battle field exclusive drop. For item grinding later, a formality more then anything.
Impa: 4x Range, she does have good natural range but if you spam her invuln this is powerful.
Impa: 4x Speed, you'll lose some of your invuln time but her lag heavy attacks won't punish you as much.
Impa: 4x Damage on 100 kills. Get this and dash attacks on her become scary. Same as Link otherwise.
Zelda: 4x Range. She needs something to compensate for how much lag/commitment she has.
Zelda: 4x Speed. Same as above.
Zelda: 4x Perfect Dodge window. If you don't like her... this is your safest way to fight dangerous enemies.
Characters you dislike: 4x Battle Exp. Characters are mandatory on some missions, this will let you level them with minimal effort.
11: Have fun!
I noticed you can give upgraded skills (they have a small green "+" symbol in the bottom right) to weapons if the material is an upgraded weapon, but i can't do it consistently. Got any info about how that works?
Actually, for Zelda (or every character for that matter), you can pretty much cancel her moves with the Dodge button.

What can you do. Ash is part time in and out cause he keeps getting other jobs that pay more and with kids coming John and Derrick left. Andre is the only mainstay and he obviously is too busy to do anything besides discussions unless it’s a game he’s hyped enough to take the burden.
It’s just bad luck John and Derrick got their girlfriends pregnant at the start of the year
@@masteroflag I'm confused what happened?
@@Nosretep like they’ve said in podcasts Derrick and John got their girls pregnant like around Valentine’s Day and both even have the same due date.
John ended up leaving cause Nintendo Life is also a UK based place so it’s better hours to allow him to be around for the kid more
Derrick is taking it as a sign to move on to the next step in his life as a creator or whatever. But both are now gone with Derrick officially out next week.
This is why Andre suddenly has 3 new employees and made one of the part timers full time. He may have getting more popular to hire more people but not double his staff. So Joey and co are basically the replacements for the old hosts
@@masteroflag Thanks for the info.
Thank you so much. This game, much like the first one has a problem with not explaining very well how the weapons system works.
Woah, I didn't know you can fuse at least 3 different skills into a single weapon... I wonder what will be the max amount of combinable skills in one weapon (if it's not 3)?
As an add-on, I'm so happy Tris is covering most of the HW:AoC game so far! He's become one of my favourite new member!
If you fully level it up you can fuse 4
each weapon in the demo at least can have 4 skill, 1 initial or a empty slot and three more when you reach the levels 5, 10 and 20 ... if you combine two skills whit the same shape the attack bonus is +5 and if the four are the same the bonus is +15 but for this +15 all have to be same skill or two skill repite twice for example 4 normal atack or 2 normal attack + 2 special attack ... sorry for the bad english btw XD
@@evdestroy5304 Ah, so the max is 4. Thank you!
@@fedez3676 Wow, I didn't know this! Thank you for the detailed info!
By the way, your English is fine I understood it well 👍
I wonder if the fact that it's specifically referred to as the *Hylian* Blacksmith Guild means that's we'll also get blacksmith guilds for the other races that will fulfill the missing functionality like removing skills from a weapon.
Bit of info for others. At level 20, you have 4 slots. If all four seals are the same shape, you get +15 from the base damage, Which is reflected in the attack total. Best way to hit level 20 that isn't actually said is finding fuse exp seals on weapons, and leveling those up to 13. If you have two, this is actually pretty easy. Make sure to level the first to level 7-8, and have the same shaped seal to boost the bonus to 165. Then fuse that into the level 1 fuse exp weapon. The seals don't carry over in this case, but the result is an easy 1 to 20 fuse item to use on your choice of weapon. Afterwards, add the seals you want on it as needed, that weapon will have all three open, four if it didn't have anything.(Though the seal weapons have higher bases usually.) Very quick compared to just grinding and fusing without care.
I have two goals. A level 20/20 Exp 16% up weapon. And Fuse Materials with that fuse exp bonus so I can integrate new seals in the main game. Along with primary combat weapons. Zelda's is down with 30% window for flurry rush and 4% more range.(She is not the best when it comes to close combat.) Link might need a new one, but his current setup is built for mowing through enemies. Impa... Well, the EXP weapon is what I am getting her, since I only need 1 more seal for it. Maybe 4 of a kind will give +20, who knows yet.
It might have been worth mentioning how ability symbols match and grant +5 _ +15 base attack.
this was pretty confusing when i played the game, thank you
I am grinding this demo
Impressive
I like how the blacksmith looks somewhat like the one from Skyward Sword on Skyloft. I wonder if that's intentional or it's just me.
It's the dude from Hateno village who gives you the tour. He was a blacksmith before the Great Calamity and afterwards turned to selling armour and clothing.
@@bedroombunny9529 100 years?! Nah, I think it may be their ancestors
Nice, just gotta hope they improve the framerate by then or at least with a day 1 patch cause this game is gonna be something special
Finally, someone else has reached the skill ceiling
There are two things that weren't gotten quite right: 1 is that new skill slots are added at level 5 and level 10, but not a level 15, so it isn't every 5 levels (I do not know if one is added at level 20), 2 is that not all skills need to have the same shape to get the +5 damage bonus. You only need a pair of skills with the same shape. The third (and fourth if there is one) can be a different shape
There is indeed a skill at level 20. You also gain another attack bonus at level 20, though I've only made a level 20 weapon using all the same shapes for the bonuses, so I don't know the specifics on the bonus attack at level 20.
I kind of hope this feature appears in the sequel.
Nice
I got a soup lette from the pre order bonus in the demo

@Sunset's Channel i mean they haven't even said what the lucky ladle does besides being a ladle. If you can find the only preorder bonus they are advertising in game for free then what's the point
@Sunset's Channel, the only thing it has is more fusion exp
I was so upset that when I got the tutorial I immediately forgot it. Literally went to look for the tutorial again and it wasnt there. I was so upset.
Question: if you played the demo and want to carry your saved data, do you have to purchase the game digitally or can the data be carried over to a physical copy as well
I would imagine physical would work just like with the Dragon Quest XI demo.
I got about 90% completion rate before I realized there was more to fusing weapons than just upping the level/attack power. So frustrated because now I'm grinding for specific items for the last few quests with no money to fuse new weapons to help...all my rupees are going to leveling up my characters for the last few battles. Also, now I guess I know what the lucky ladle and training sword were meant for...I fused those in with a broad sword pretty early on.
i did not realize that the next slots came at level 5!
I found that skills are only added when fusing a weapon up to levels 5, 10 and 20, so not quite every 5 levels as 15 did not give a skill.
You get another attack bonus at level 20 too, but I don't know all the specifics about that, my level 20 weapons had all their skills with the same shape to maximise the skills stats.
Also, fusing a single high enough level weapon with multiple skills onto a level 1-4 weapon which then goes up to 10+ with the higher level weapon will only receive the first skill from the high level weapon, it will potentially miss out on the skill gained from reaching level 10 as such.
the attack bonus is based off skill matching, not the level of the weapon. a pair of 2 matching skills/attributes gives +5, 2 pairs of 2 gives +10, and a full set of 4 gives +15. Note the video got something wrong about this however; the green number is NOT adding to the number on the left. Rather, its how much of the attack stat on the weapon comes from the matching bonus. It's unfortunately a case of bad UI. This means that, aside from Impa's weapon that starts with 21 attack, which you can only get one of, the highest damage a weapon can currently have is 52 attack since the highest attack a weapon drops at is 18 since you get 19 attack from leveling up weapons and 15 from matching bonuses.
@@Vexal50 I figured it would have something to do with skill matching, but as my level 20 weapons have all the same shapes on them, I couldn't confirm everything to the same extent as yourself, I just knew that level 20 gave the 4th skill and the added attack bonus came with it.
I hope this video gets remade with more accurate information, right now it's not a good informative video as such. I'm not a fan of the lack of research done for this video, especially with how long the demo has been out for now at this point.
Also, yeah, I forgot to mention that the bonus attack is already added to the main stat, it was confusing at first, but was quickly worked out by leveling more weapons and noting the attack stat based on which shapes were added.
I wish you change what weapon you are equipped with at the store.
I already know I’ll be obsessed with crafting...can you undo anything, like let’s say you wanna change a weapons abilities?
You can chance the abilities again but I think you need to be in a certain part of the game
I need this game now come on nintendo why November 20th 😔
How does the "Raise Weapon-Level Limit" option work?
Hmmm... can you still fuse to install skills on already max lvl weapons tho. Otherwise its gonna be really annoying to plan out builds for weapons. In a similarly annoying way to fairies in hyrule warriors-and I know this since I'm fairy raising right now. Its not a good time since 1 fk up means you start again or close the game before it saves the results. More importantly can you remove skills to make room for others?
If there is an empty slot, definitely. But at this point that would mean only fusing no-ability weapons till max level, which (I think) give less exp.
Faster and cheaper to just fill the slots with useful abilities as you level it.
The full game might have a way to remove abilities to free up slots which can allow you to fix a build, but no confirmation on that.
The Calamity is the framerate of this game...i really hope they will do something about it...
it won't be in time for launch. I can assure that. They wouldn't show it like that if that had a day 1 fix ready to go.
He actually is.
Spoilers ahead:
Ganon is playable, and he lags so much
Okay thanks the symbol system confused me and I just discovered the in game guide.
I wonder if this feature is going to be in BOTW 2...
You didn't mention how the symbols give a larger boost if you match them.
In my opinion more attack range is the best perk so far. Normally I would go for more material stuff but I don't feel like it's so big of a deal in HW2 at least so far. And even if it will be a big deal, it will probably be some sort of boss material and is probably boostable with food recipes. More experience is tempting too but there are probably not that many playable characters like in HW1 so the leveling should not be that problematic. If there won't be oddly specific super effective against boss perks I think attack range will be the best. Faster mass kills, faster taking over bases, faster grinding^-^
Zelda definitely wants speed or range since she has no combat mobility... that being said for Link and Impa I find Attack Speed and Range worthless since they are not only mobile but have a great range as is.
Damage per 100 kills is better for Link/Impa imo, that 2% boost going to 3%, with it being a total of 12% every 100 kills is ridiculously powerful. Link's natural huge AoE and Impa's dash attack with good AoE for her base.
It only gets better when we can get 6 slots.
@@Buglin_Burger7878 I see your point and I aggree that Link and especially Impa(without clones) could benefit from more strenght(Zelda too but one problem after another^^'). However the question is, do they really need it? Sure the mass enemies have a lot more health than usual and that attack boost does make it easier to kill them with less hits but I don't think that's necessary. The mass enemies don't tank a good combo so in my opinion more attack range to gather them is better. Once Impa got all her clones she can send the enemies in the air and take them down easily. Link can get in the air with the first combo and has a great AoE stomp attack finisher that already has a ridiculous range and does enough damage anyways at least in my opinion :D
I think that the games difficulty won't spike that much because there aren't that many characters like in HW1(probably) so I don't think it's bad to go for one specific Perk set or another^-^
If you think Zelda have no combat mobility, that’s probably because you are not playing her correctly....
What she needs is not speed or range. What she needs is a player who understands her mechanics and getting used to her tempo.
@@raywing00, She still needs range, because of her other moveset that I won’t get into as it’s a spoiler.
@@catalyst539
She really doesn’t, especially with the YYXXX.
The only thing that requires some range would be YXXX, which isn’t used that often anyway since the damage is low.
What does the weapon level do?
Id like a better understanding on how the game chooses what bonus you get. I usually have to shuffle the 5 weapons around till i get the right one but some bonuses always overwrite others. Ive been have somewhat good luck with putting the weapon with the bonus 1st of the 5. other times nothing would be chosen. Ive also noticed that the game will choose only after 3 or more are picked, unless a weapon is leveled up. Hopefully theres more info once the game is out
What has always worked for me... is lets say I want bonus X.
I'll combine weapons till my weapon can fuse with the X weapon to level... and do a specific fuse with that exclusive weapon. This is level 5, 10, and 20. Every time it has worked without flaw. There are limitations.
1: If X has 2 Attack speed ups on it, it seems like it will only pass 1 on even if it gives the new weapon two slots. This is the same of all traits to my knowledge. I'm unsure if it works with 2 different traits.
ridiculously
@@Buglin_Burger7878 i have gotten the option to get 2 bonuses at once, but i dont remember ever getting 2 of the same ones. Personally, I didn't like the first Hyrule Warriors. I didn't like the art style, the story was very boring and it didn't make sense (in my opinion) and the characters were ok. But this one is so good. It's canon to Breath of the Wild, has nice cinematics, it fleshes out the characters a lot. Every character is very distinct to one another. If you played Breath of the Wild, I highly recommend this one instead of the first Hyrule Warriors.

The preorder is a lucky ladle, I think its different from the ones we get in game
@@lucarioriolu7651 it’s the same thing though even if it’s named different the ones that pre order should get something else
@@doyouwantfrieswiththat7682 ohh I didn't know it was the same 😅
True
@@doyouwantfrieswiththat7682, it’s not the same. The lucky ladle is metal. The soup ladle is wood.
@@catalyst539 I know I noticed when I got the game
I have a 47+10 soldiers broadsword, and a 41+10 slate. What do you guys have.
41+15 sword, 51+15 Kodachi, and 46+15 slates.
Tris got the damage increase wrong.
The increase increases base damage.
Your Broadsword would be 37 damage without that increase.
Does anyone know which Ancient device is stronger: Ancient Memory Part or Ancient Power Boost?
Power Boost and Overclock Unit (mainly Overclock Unit) they’re her Tier 2 and 3 weapons for her first moveset
Who else has max everything and is waiting for the game to release?
How long did it take you? If so, what's your recommended level?
@@Daniel328DT I started grinding ever since the demo came out so it took a VERY LONG TIME. Almost every hour of each day was spent playing the demo. I played it on very hard from the beggining and I tested it on the other difficulties. I finished a lot faster since I now have a maxed out weapons and characters. If you want to grind a lot more quickly, I reccomend playing easy mode.
@@darklink6892 So you played mission 1 in chapter 1 on easy mode to level up quickly then? I know very hard gives you higher based rewards, but I guess that would take too long with lower levels and stats?
@@Daniel328DT I leveled up quickly and got lots of weapons from doing the side quest "Explosive-Handle with care". I did it in hard mode and it doesn't take much time to complete. I complete it in about 3-4 minutes. It's best to grind in this level with any character. It's really easy and a fast way to grind.
@@darklink6892 I'd recommend grinding in the first mission, you can clear it in 6-7 minutes getting the outpost treasures and the chests hidden in the tree without wasting any time. You just have to make use of ordering the characters. This will get you good weapon drops to get the best weapons built and decent Exp.
Year 100 ago map?
It's weird I don't see it anywhere. Has anybody else dropped the wooden spoon ?
How do you get boomerang?
Chests
What is the max level anyways in this demo?
20 for everyone in the demo. Likely at least 100 in the full game.
Whoa...that’s rad yo
Can anyone tell me where I can get Bladed Rhino bettles, I have the electric and the other version too but not the bladed
Probably not possible in the demo
It is apparently just incredibly RNG to get it. There is a lot of say people finding them in Chapter 2 from one of the skull chest and its incredibly rare of even finding one. I hope this helps at the very least.
@@rosebro7428 yeah that's what I thought since my brother got all the beetles in a first causal playthrough, while I've playing this game for 20 hours already just farming and can't get a single one, an example of this is Mighty Thirstles (extreme rare drop chapter 1) and Amorraths (rare drop chapter 1). Just that since I haven't gotten a single blade beetle I have no clue where, so Ch. 2 you say..... Thanks man.
@@GunnaKaiokenit funnily enough it got it incredibly fast in under 25 minutes. I think it drop faster if you cut flowers. I think at least. I even found 9 mighty thistles once from a skull chest. But heres a good tactic i found out in chapter 2 to grind faster, dont open any of the chest until meeting the guardian and after the cutscene, then just have everyone go to the skull chest. If you didn't get the Bladed Rhino Beetle then just die by the gaurdian, all the chests reset and give something different.
@@rosebro7428 ahh nice, yeah ik cutting flowers does give drops, along with grass. Neat to know it resets after death, will do. Thanks man.
Wait can weapons break in this game
No.
Could this be setting up a similar feature for BotW 2?
The skills of weapons are already there. We did get an idea of how to repair weapons with the Champion weapons, but it required diamonds.
I'm probably going to reset when I get the game because link is stupid strong.
I accidentally fused over some of the champions weapons because I didn’t really know how the mechanics worked properly and I’ve lost them :( if anyone knows how to fuse other weapons to make another one or if it’s possible to get another version as a drop pleeaassse help a gamer out and let me know :( :(
You don’t fuse to make other weapons.
Do endgame missions- the champion weapons are just their tier 3 weapons
One of the firsts ones here!
This will be my first Warriors game
If only there was more to do in the demo
You could grind your characters before the game comes out.
Wait what if I don’t want it to carry it over I’ve replayed the missions loads cuz they’re fun but I don’t wanna have a like lvl 15 sword when I get the game
Ya wanna gameXplain seals? no? just surface level content? aight...
Just a reminder that by the time it's BotW or the game is over this guy will be dead (Cedro)
Oh God! I just used all of them and wasted all my rupees 😅. I'll do better when I get the game
You are getting into spoiler territory with your thumbnail. Come on man.
Is this sarcasm?
There is literally nothing spoilery about the blacksmith’s face.
Sad....
So.. are all the old hosts gone? If so I'm unsubbing.
