Brilliant! I have been looking for a video for about 4 weeks to figure out how to empty my water fountain without it going into nearby planter because the soft water would kill my plants. Thank you sooo much!
Never found a connector that would fit the threaded drain outlet on my old Craftsman shop vac. I'm thinking about drilling a hole and adding a rain barrel spigot.
Me either! I have rigid and it’s the SAME issue. It’s ridiculous they purposely change the threading so you can’t just get a regular pvc adapter. I’ve been running around all day and couldn’t figure out why the threading wouldn’t work with any pvc threaded pipes anywhere.
I ordered a 3/4" brass garden hose bulkhead fitting and drilled a separate hole in my shopvac container to be able to attach a garden hose. It came with a hose cap too so when i don't need it i just cap it off. Also thinking of getting a little pond/fountain submersible pump to stick inside the tank and attach to the inside of the fitting (cause its got 1/2" female threads on the inside of the fitting) to hopefully help it keep up. Just gotta figure out how I wanna run the power cord to keep it sealed. Don't think it'll be that hard tho.
yes and no, we have the footer drains snaked but it still seeps in at one corner. I'd like to add a sump pit in that corner to help the footer drains manage the water.
I couldn’t get it to screw on. Tried on my ridged too. I’m pretty sure it was a thread issue. Really wanted to force it but didn’t want to ruin the vacuum.
Much simpler to drill a 3/4 " hole in the cap, put an o-ring on a brass drain valve, screw into plastic hole, put epoxy on the inside around the brass pipe or you want to be able to change the drain in the event of failure, put another o-ring and a 3/4 " romex connecter nut and tighten. easy peasy the 3/4 adapter he uses is not made for hoses and the fittings are too bulky.
Gamechanger! Well played and well made! Thank you for doing this video!
Heading to the Depot! Thank you so much for this. I can't believe I didn't think of this!
Glad I could help!

Thank You!!! Exactly what I needed to know.
and 3/4" brass drain valve
just use teflon tape and hand tighten
Necessity breeds invention. The never ending fun of home ownership. Hopefully the only time this season it’ll need used.
Lots of rain coming this week; we will see 😀

Good idea!
Awesome!
could also buy a rigid vac that comes with a pump to attach to the drain.
Ever get the water issue fixed? I’m in your boat so this is very helpful. Thanks!!

THANKS THAT HELP
Thanks
You are welcome!
I made this thing but the fitting wouldn’t screw onto my vacuum. Used the cap to find the right size but no luck.
Is it bigger or smaller? If it’s bigger, try a few layers of Teflon tape on the shopvac

@@mezenman I am in the same boat. Different threading. Did you ever figure it out?
@kevin I did not.
The female thread is NPT and a smidge smaller diameter then the thread of drain.
Sounds like a cool idea. Make a video!
We also used the cap to measure but the threads of the shop vac drain were too large for the female thread.
We were so excited to get this to work as my dad was constantly dumping the 12 gallon shop vac trying to get the water off of their lanai in Florida.
